If thousands, or even hundreds of civilizations from the past used plans from before their own time who is to say that plan wasn't implemented by the Reapers themselves?
Supposedly the Crucible was a collection of plans from all of the cycles before, yet the Reapers didn't destroy these plans when they obviously destroyed the people who were working on it?
They also stated that those against the plans were indoctrinated so this gives further proof that the Reapers knew about the Crucible.
The Reapers have a large list of things they left for the next cycles to use in relation to the plan that they will then follow a certain guilded path. Evidence is Sovereign: "Your civilization is based on the technology of the mass relays. Our technology. By using it, your civilization develops along the paths we desire. We impose order on the chaos of organic life. You exist because we allow it, and you will end because we demand it."
If the Reapers had numerously stopped the plans of thousands, or millions, whatever, of civilization's past attempts to create this ultimate weapon against the Reapers why would they allow the plans to survive for the next civilization to somehow find it?
And the naysayers may say: well, perhaps those civilizations were lucky and just managed to hide it, or whatnot.
Sure, yes they may have, but Vigil said they were very thorough in making sure anything about the Reapers would be destroyed in order to have the next civilizations be completely side planted when they did indeed start the cycle of extinction. So with that in mind, do you really believe that the Reapers just happened to not catch wind of getting a single IDEA of what the organics were doing? Which has already been proven when evidence by Javik: (paraphrase) A Prothean Cereberus were indoctrinated and fought against the creation of the Cruicble.
There you have it. I'll add more to this once I find something of value. Everything above were really just a memory dump.
Tell me what you think!
