"I need you to believe"

Anyone else find it weird that all of the sudden TIM was set on making Shepard believe controlling the Reapers was the right way to do things?

Well he also said the "not looking for your approval" line in ME3 too.

I don't think he did change from ME2 to 3. In 2 he was always trying to make you see things from his perspective, no different here really.

He was indoctrinated, and the reapers were keeping him from letting the crucible dock.

In ME2 i was never sure whether he came clean with me, or if he'd stab me in the back later on, but yeah he's definitely different in ME3, because you're no longer in contract with him and obviously because he's revealed to be indoctrinated.

TIM used to be cool on ME2, on ME3 he was just lame.

I wonder if his way of thinking changed at all when the ancient genocidal space robots took over his brain.

The Illusive Man is a liar, plain and simple. Whenever someone says they don't want your approval/opinion, but they goes to the trouble of making a real-time holographic link so they can talk to you face-to-face, they're generally lying.

He wants control, he wants validation (hence all the effort into crafting his image) but when someone goes against him, he tries to hurt them with words.

He's basically like a kid on the internet with a manifesto. Hell, he has an internet manifesto.
