I don't know. I'm not sure how others would think about this game. Personally I just couldn't finish my second playthrough. I lost my interest 30 minutes after the introduction. How is DAII as a video game? As an RPG? How does DAII compare to DAO? Please, do share your opinions.

I tried to replay DA:O several times and never managed it. The most furthest I could get to was sleeping with Morrigan.

I've tried to play DA II once but didn't manage it. I got to Act III, saving Bethany quest.

People who replay games are strange.

To restate you position: You liked DAO and have just killed the Archdemon but lost inerest in DA2 in 30 minutes but are on you second playthrough?

How is DAII as a Video Game: I had fun with the combat and I think it is a good video game.

As an RPG: Ah, that's different. Probably not as good as an RPG but it has Stats and abilities. you change your sex, and appearance so that part is good compared to some other games.

How does DAII compare to DAO: I think it isn't quite as good as DAO.

Yes, I think DAII is not really as good as DAO, but I just can't tell why. Something about RPGs...

PS: haha is it so hard to understand the title? Well, I've finished the DAO campaign many, many times, more times than I can count. But I've never been able to finish my second playthrough for DAII. I was just wondering why. Like you said, the game isn't so bad.

I actually despised DA2 when I first played it after expecting it to be like DA:O, I even wrote a ****** take review about it for a gaming website and everything, but I gave it a second chance and started to warm to it. For me DA2 is one of those games where the more I play it the more it grows on me. Granted, it will never be as epic as DA:O but it still has it's charm and the characters are awesome.

Once I accepted it for what it is I got more enjoyment out of it.

I'm actually replaying both at the same time just now, with my 16th BeardHawke and (my very, very first) FemWarden (my other 8 odd Wardens were dudes)

I've been wanting to do it for a while, to compare the two.games and It's been kinda fun. It's actually made me appreciate both games far more, and I honestly cant help but read all dem codex entries. I HUNGER FOR LORE! LOOOOORRREE!

Are there any other RPGs that you can easily replay or have difficulty replaying?

Diablo, for example, I played through about three times. Skyrim I couldn't finish because I'm a completionist and I got exhausted trying to do everything. The original Deus Ex I've played twice. Vampire: Bloodlines I've started playing several times, but I always stop near the end when the combat gets tedious.

I've played DA:O twice, and that was enough for me, at least for a long, long, LONG time.

DA2, I played about... five, six times in quick succession. But the novelty has worn off now, and I have other games to play. Also, a ****ton of school assingments. I still haven't played the DLCs because of that.

Well, my situation is unique. I played DA2 first at my brother-in-law's house. I loved it to pieces. But it was at his house, not mine (and I didn't have an xbox). I heard there was a prequel, so I found it and bought it. I played a Noble Human Warden over at his place.

After awhile, I convinced myself to buy an xbox. I had DA:O, so I played it again on my new (refurbished) xbox (Dalish Warden). I was bored and had no other games, so I started another playthrough, my now-canon playthrough, the City Elf Warden. I went ahead and played Awakening with him, too.

Finally, I broke down and bought DA2 for myself. I imported my City Elf playthrough and haven't replayed DA:O since.

Since then, I've replayed and completed DA2 I think six times on my own, and a few more times on my brother-in-law's xbox.

I don't mind DA:O, but I find the voiceless protagonist a real turn off, plus a couple of the quests are ridiculously long and boring.

DA2 is definitely the better game for me, but obviously YMMV.

I've played DAO eight times and DA2 five times so far, so I guess I find them both quite replayable. Planning two more runs on DA2 before DA3 comes out.

Well, I see that we have a lot in common haha. Except that I've never
played the original Deus Ex, I basically I did all the things you said,
especially Skyrim. I completed all guild missions and so many side
missions that there was really no point replaying. (My Breton character
has practically become a deity in the game, 100% resistance to magic for
example)

I've probably played through Origins at least 5 times, including all dlc through Witch Hunt.  I think I'm on my 5th or 6th playthrough of DA2, with this being my 3rd consecutive as a rogue.

I think it's easier to replay rpgs if you enjoy the whole "experience" rather than mainly playing for the story.  I like playing as an adventurer and being the hero of the story.  Also, I usually find rpg combat fun, as I like building a character from scratch and then going off to kill the bad guys, slowly developing into some kind of super-warrior.  When I start a new playthrough, usually after a break, I get to relive the journey all over again.

I've tried replaying DA:O and DA2, but I can't seem to do it with either of them. I think my problem is I see my original Warden and original Hawke as the "real characters." If I try playing a different character, it just doesn't work for me.

It also doesn't help that both stories are still too fresh in my head.

I am finding it very hard to replay either one right now. I guess, I have played them enough to where they are no fun anymore so I hope DA3 hurries and comes out to give me something else to play 9-10 times!

With DAO, I played it with my warrior Warden, and hated it. Than I discovered how fun a cunning rogue could be and the amazing world of mods, so I played it again. Than before DA2, I played it a third time to make sure I had every quest done and every decision perfect(lol). I tried a 4th time playing a Mage, but got bored.

DA2, I did a mage playthough and a rouge playthrough. Mainly, I wanted a save with Carver and Beth living. Also playing as a mage and rogue was so very entertaining, After that, I hated the game because of it falling so short of what it could of been. I recently played through it a couple months ago as a mage, with heavy modding. Than, I couldn't resist, so I played through half of it with a female protagonist for the very first time, and just got to the third Act last night.

DAO - 3
DA2 - almost 4
I will never play either of them again without mods.

Off topic, but now that I think about it, my female Hawke was never hit on by Fenris or Anders, yet my male Hawke was hit on every time during my first 3 playthroughs. Strange.

I can't stand the combat in DA:O after playing DA2. I just went back and finished a playthrough with my dalish elf so I would never, ever have to go back to it again.

Agreed. I've replayed a few games in my time, but RPG always start grinding on me when I replay them.

I think, think, I've replayed DA:O twice fully. I've tried to replay it loads of times though and tend to lose interest around the deep roads (because it's sooo long).

DA2 I've had more sucess with, simply because it's shorter and I wanted to try out all the dialogue/romances, so I got through it 3 times fully. And I'm on a fourth playthrough now because I want to try out the DLC Legacy (which I still haven't finished) and for some reason, I must of deleted my completed saves, so I have to start again.

I only really replay games once it's been a good 6 months - 2 years since I've played them to be honest.

It's the same with books, I can never re-read books nor can I understand people who do. :pinched:

This, a thousand times this. I always end up downloading a bundle of mods before I replay either (assuming I deleted the mods off my computer at some points - which I always do).

I started multiple simultaneous playthroughs in Origins after my canon fem elf mage was done. Then I tried DA2, was aghast, and tried and tried to finish it at least once. It took me a while, but when I was finally at the end-chapter of the game, it got too much a burden on me. I only played it because Origins was a fantastic game. Though I didn't expect anything in particular out of DA2, and didn't want it to be like Origins, it was so radically different, appealing to a different spectrum, and spoken frankly - dumbed down, that I'm really really mad at the devs. They lost one fan and customer (and for the first time in my life I began to frequent an internet forum - only to take part of the debate about DA2 being a sad sad thing for Bioware corp).

But then again, I don't find "entertainment" in flashiness or simplistic (you can read this as (overly) "customer-friendly") games, nor am I interested in romances only for the sake of stating them or seeing cut-scenes (I am interested only in the choices, and the encouraged thinking process behind creating my character through them - be it romance or otherwise - in one word, involvement (and poetry)) so maybe I'm not the target audience. Anyways, DA2 (and consequent playing of ME 1&2) took away all my interest in Bioware games, and I'm not motivated anymore to re-start the alts in Origins (I get a bit sad playing it right now).

So I never really completed any of my (more than ten) characters in Origins, save the first, main one.

I can't re-play either of them any more, for very long anyway. I know what happens too well and it gets boring quickly. Not the game's fault, anything familiar gets that way after a while. I have a rule of not re-reading a good book at least a year after the initial reading.

I can replay Origins just fine. I've probably replayed the game about 20 times since it came out. Sometimes I have long bursts of interest and can play 3 playthroughs back to back, then I'll get bored and not play for a couple months, but I always go back to it.

Those who play mainly for the story seem to be the ones who struggle replaying the game. I would get bored reading books over and over too.

I enjoy the combat, exploration, and various adventuring aspects of a rpg, in addition to the story.  These parts help me feel more immersed and involved in the game, and I don't just play to see what happens next.  My playthroughs tend to be longer than the norm, as I'm not in any real hurry to get everything done with, as I'm enjoying the adventure.

I've played them both several times and will continue to do so in the future. My ratio of DAO playthroughs to DA2 playthroughs is about 3-1 though.

DA O is by far the superior game, and has more replayability charm to it. I find it vexing when people say they 'get bored' with DAO or that DAO drags. If I were a betting man, I'd wager that 99% of people who say this are console players, who are (even though they might not know it) more criticizing the port of DAO than the actual game. And I'm not a PC player myself, I've never played a PC game in my life, but I see the beauty behind the somewhat unstable port of DAO to consoles. It's still a masterpiece on any playform and that's saying something.

I will admit I do find myself getting bored with DA2 sometimes though: Oh, another fed-ex quest. Oh great another group of enemies. Kill them. Walk 30 feet. Another wave of enemies. Kill them. Delivery message or package or rescue somebody etc. Collect my reward. Find another fed-ex quest. Repeat.

It's not a bad game but it's not great either, and definitely lacks the replayability that Origins had.

I think ive done DA:O over 10 times. And i think ive replayed the origin stories 50-60 times over the years (man the one thing i wish they wolda done differently was making the origin story longer, and more immersive). The origin stories is what i love the most about DA:O, that and the chars which are really strong (except the archdemon which coulda been played on alot more). What i want more then anything for DA3 is if they want a family connection, and background for you char, to actually connect with them (which was lackluster in DA2, and coulda been alot better in DA:O) i think they need to make it at least 4-5 hours long, and they probably have to start off ala fable when you are verry young. Maybe its a strange notion, but i think it could make the game extreemly godd if you actually feel verry strong for your background and/or family.
