What do y'all think of Leliana's personality, both the hardened and unhardened versions? My first play-through I didn't harden either her or Alistair. In another thread a lot of people were saying he gets much more insteresting if hardened - I'm wondering if the same is true of Leliana?
Leliana - hardened or unhardened?

The OP means there are triggers in dialog that will change Leliana's and Alistair's personalities once you've completed their companion missions

The foursome has AWESOME dialog. So Yes Hardened.

Sorry if I'm being dense, still not sure what you all mean by hardened?

Basically, instead of encouraging her to leave her past behind, you convince Leliana to embrace her past as a bard. She still remains the same person as she was before, but she'll be more accepting of certain decisions.

After doing the companion missions for Alistair and Leliana, you will be presented with dialog choices. Certain choices will harden their personalities. Alistair will no longer be, "Mr. Nice Guy" making it easier to talk him into taking the throne. Leliana will revert (sort of) back to her assassin ways - the only real benefit of which is if you want to have a threesome with Leliana and Isabelle; or a foursome with Leliana, Isabelle, and Zevran.

You'll know if you hardened Leliana or not at the very end of the game as well.
Before you open the door to get to the end credits, if she's wearing her Chantry robe, she isn't hardened. If she's wearing armor, she's hardened.
Small but subtle thing, but I noticed it on my 3rd playthrough.

I always thought i hardened her when she killed Morjalaine (or how you spell it) went back to check my final save and she was in robes. Hmm.. ...

What are the choices because i never really figured it out. But eh i think i can do that

I'm pretty sure the way to "harden" her is after you kill Marjalaine. You tell her to embrace her past as a spy instead of telling her that she's a good person now. Or words to that effect.

So she doesn't really change her dialogs when she's in group and stuff, or does she?

no you have to say along the lines it natural to want to kill she called a darkspawn a poor bastard when she killed it. it was so funny

After her personal quest is over and you go back to camp, when you talk to her, make sure you pick the choice that tells her "Don't punish yourself for something you enjoy", and then "You're not a Chantry Sister, you are a bard, a spy", and finally "Go with what your instincts tell you". She'll end the conversation there.
Talk to her again and pick "You're not meant for a cloister, you never were"
That should harden her. It may not be the only way, but I know that way worked for me.

From the thread title, I was expecting something completely different...
Still, my answer remains hardened.

If you let her feel bad about killing Marjie and tell her she's still a good person, she'll remain a softy.

Cool info about Lel. Couldn't care less about Alistair. I'm sure even when hardened he's soft as a wet noodle.

Does hardening Leliana have any effects if she leaves after the ending?
I only tried 2 versions:
Love with Lel + hardened -> she stays with you
Friendship with Lel + not hardened -> she leaves to the urn of Andraste
What about "love + not hardened" and "friendhsip + hardened"?
What happens there at the end?

Love + not hardened she will follow whatever you do.
Friendship + hardened she will continue adventuring IIRC
also, have a look here : dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Epilogue
