I read somewhere that they are refilled when Shepard's grenades are refilled. But what if Shepard doesn't carry grenades? Also, how are Shepard's grenades refilled? I played as an Engineer so it wasn't an issue, and I just started a second playthrough as a Vanguard - also not an issue. But I think I'd like to keep a grenade user with me and I just want to know how much I can/can't spam them

Some ammo dumps have grenades next to them, so when you pick up ammo from there the squadmates get them too, I guess.

Squadmate grenades work just like Shepard's. Every new mission restores grenade capacity to the max, and can be restored throughout the mission by picking up grenades. Grenades can be found lying around, or in ammo dumps. No matter what class you are, grenade pickups always appear.
