Even if the DLC ending fixes every cimplaint you have, will you still feel differently about the series and Bioware?

Like most of you here, the ending to this game absolutely crushed my enthusiasm for the series. It was a cunfusing mess that left me with a million questions, most of which can't be answered and shouldn't have existed in the first place. Now, after all this time, I've settled securely into the acceptance stage, but I'm not sure if this is a good place to be, for me or for Bioware.

I was mulling over a Q&A post relating to the ending today, but after all this waiting; I just didn't get excited. Honestly, my own reaction surprised me. Now sure; it was extremely vague and in my opinion stated that the major issue (space boy) wouldn't be fixed, but it's still a glimmer of hope. My main issue with the ending wasn't plot holes, because if those were such a big deal to me, I'd have hated ME2 like Smudboy. No, it was the fact that it nullified all my accomplishments and stranded my crew.

Anyway, back to my point. I felt nothing over it. That's when I realized I just didn't care about this game anymore. Having waited a month for any serious response from Bioware, meanwhile trying to burry any and all throughs about this game, I have finally succeeded. At this point, even if my major issues were fixed-- which they clearly won't be-- I doubt I'd do anything but watch the new endings on youtube for the sake of curiosity, then go back to ignoring all of it.

Mistakes happen, and sometimes those mistakes are responded to poorly, but this entire thing was so horribly botched from start to finish that I don't think I'll ever be able to forgive it. I used to be the Bioware equivilent of an Apple fan, but that's a day long saince past. I appreciate the fact that this 'ending dlc' will be free, which is an excellent gesture of good will, but how much damage control will come out of it is yet to be seen. I really hope it can be salvaged so we can all move on and go back to chucking money at our screens.

I remember the days of posting that Fre meme picture fondly. No other company ever hald such good will with me. Bioware, bring that back.

TL;DR
What I believe may be irrepairable damage to my ability to care about the series and developer has been done. Do you feel the same, and why?

I don't feel the same. If they fix all major complaints I will immediately start another ME3 playthrough.

I will not feel the same, but in a more positive sense.

I didnt HATE the endings like so many here, but I found them a bit lacking, and I am really impressed that Bioware is considering our feedback so important that they are willing to use money & time to make it better, at no expense to us.

If I wasnt a Bioware fan before, I sure as hell am one now.

Heck, I dunno. Seems to be a very tall order for nothing but cutscences. Guess I won't know until I see it.

Forgive and Forget.

If they really address every complaint (what I highly doubt) they re-gained all my support.

Yep, bioware is not same company for me anymore.
Luckily there are still some other great companies, so it's not a problem.
And now it's not even about the endings.
It's about lies.

I should think they'll have learnt their lesson about trying to be too artsy with ending and be more mindful when working on a project of this magnitude where players are quite emotionally invested. So, assuming they do a good job of the extended cut, I would be happy to buy more BioWare games but I'll almost certainly never buy on day one again.

No.

Didn't listen to what fans asked for. We wanted a fixed ending, not an extension of same crap.

I agree, that if a lot of work and thought clearly went into the extended cut, I'll probably buy Bioware's next title. That would be enough to show me that they understand their mistake and value us as customers.

I say "probably" because it might be DA:3... I'll need to hear the real reviews of that first, not IGN's worthless opinion.

If they fix the problems then I wont feel the same, however I will trust them more to fix up problems when they mess up.

The way they have addressed the whole debacle is my main concern here. It's their attitude which has changed my feelings about BioWare, not the ending of ME 3. It's how they have handled their fans. I've never seen so much distance between fans and creators as I have with this.

If they fixed everything I would feel more loyal to them than ever. Sure they dropped the ball, but you hardly see major companies in any sector being willing to go back and admit it by fixing things.

I would feel much better about them, but I'll also not let myself fall so in love with a universe that they create again, at least not until I've seen the ending.

BioWare has already ruined their reputation. Fans aren't going to buy blindly from them anymore like they used to, which means that their pre-orders and overall are going to suffer. Personally, I'm going to wait until I read user reviews before I purchase anything from them in the future. I used to buy from them at release, but I can't disappoint myself like that anymore.

I'm willing to forgive, but not forget. However, if they fix problems with the extension, I'll certainly have a much better opinion.

^ This.

I have major concerns with their almost condescending (in my opinion) reaction to the whole thing. It left a bad taste in my mouth that I'm going to remember next time.

Oh, I don't know. It hurts their reputation, obviously, especially coming on the heels of DA2. But if they can clear up most of the ending issues with the DLC (very difficult, but anything is possible), then they will have done a good thing that will help repair some of the damage to their brand.

Basically, this video points out why I wouldn't buy from Bioware/EA again:

But will 'some' be enough? -Can- they actually reason themselves out of a major plot point that they clearly didn't reason themselves into?

Yes, I will feel differently. Their name on the cover of games will no longer hold the same weight as it did before :(
I will no longer expect the same quality of work that I enjoyed from previous games . . .
Times are changing I guess. Hate to see something evolve when it doesn't need too Image IPB
