Why can we see mutilated genitals, but our LIs are covered up?

You didn't warn you'd be showing a picture of them.
No worries though, I agree with the things you are pointing out.

A panel, which interestingly enough, had no opposition whatsoever and was cut to after Geoff was dispensed. Geoff was "given opportunity to speak" for one minute out of the entire six-minute segment, opposed to a psychologist, and was precluded from offering a cogent opposition point via numerous attempts at deflection and distraction. That's not called a "debate"; that's called a "straw man". Otherwise known as "typical Fox News strategy".kleindropper wrote...
Now you are mixing in the comments of the guest specifically brought in as "opposition" to the gamer with the rest of the panel. That is called a "debate" and if FNC disallowed liars in their debates then no politician would ever be allowed on FNC. In this case Geoff was given ample opportunity to make his own counterpoints.
"Full" nudity implies visible genitalia and/or fully-depicted sex characteristics with erogenous associations. In which case, yes, Fox News' point is untrue. "Graphic" sexual content generally implies depicted penetration and/or explicit sexual imagery in the same, prurient vein as penetration. In which case, again, Fox News' point is untrue. As for "full digital nudity", it sure doesn't look like they are wearing any clothes in the cutscene, so that is a factual statement., and yes they are obviously shown engaging in sex, so that is also a true statement.
You're attempting to equivocate by deflection and engaging in pedantry. That's not going to happen. The sexual content that occurred in Mass Effect is clear, what Fox News attempted to represent the sexual content in Mass Effect as is clear, and that is a blatantly false representation whether engendered, again, by either journalistic negligence or willful deception.
No degree of appeals to relativism or perspective is going to change that fact, so I put it to you a fourth time; how is Fox News' coverage of the game justifiable?

There are plenty of places to find porn. Video games shouldn't be one of them.
Who said anything about porn? A romance that leads to a mild sex scene is not offensive. Taking showers fully clothed and during sex is much worse.
I notice you don't complain about extreme violence. A head shot that blows people's brains out is fine, right? But a naked human body... oh the horror!

Disturbing indeed!
The ESRB rating, which says there's "partial nudity" in the game, states that you can see an alien butt and breasts in a romance scene (Liara's).
Players can also initiate brief romantic encounters between characters: dialogue choices are made, leading to kissing and caressing on a bed—sexual activity is implied. In one of these sequences, an alien character's buttocks and breasts are briefly depicted.
Which is pretty dumb because you can also stare in awe at the bare butts of the Reaper brutes, but since it's not in a romantic context, I guess it doesn't matter?
I just wish they'd make the love scenes for Human characters more like what they did for Liara, because I don't think it matters if nudity is shown on a Human or an alien with basically the same body as a Human.. I think partial nudity applies to Liara just as much as it would for Ashley or Traynor, so that can't be the reason the Humans keep their underwear on.

He just said that Porn is okay, but that it should not be in video games. That in and of itself doesn't make sense, but suppose he said that it didn't belong in Mass Effect.
If that's the case, then you're saying it is okay to watch two people copulate, as long as they don't appear to love each other.

Your right! Games should only be comprised of things that are guaranteed not to offend anybody!
Violence is out!
Nudity is out!
Moral and Religious disputes are out!
Lies and Betrayal are out!
Let's strip it all away until every game is Tetris! I'm sure gaming companies will still make millions and as a bonus we won't have to worry about whether or not Video games should be considered "Art"!
In all seriousness, I like adult content in my video games because I am in fact an adult. I've been playing video games since the early 90's and I'm sure many here will point out that they have been playing even longer then that. I think it would be really sad if games only catered to children and teens.
I'm not saying that all video games should have nudity in them. I just think that it shouldn't be something they avoid to the point of detriment. See Dragon Age: Origins sex scene's for an example. Personally I think the Mass Effect Trilogy would have benefitted from a bit of nudity. When the situation called for it.
My 2c.

Yeah, his argument is a bit strange but I've heard similar before. There's a train of thought that no sex or nudity should be in video games, even if they're for adults. Violence is fine of course. I'm not sure where it comes from. Maybe they play games in front of family members and get embarrassed?

Well, the issue is whether the nudity in question is (dramatically) appropriate.

That's a possibility. I'd rather not play through sex scenes with my entire family watching..
Violence is a much bigger issue to me. I try not to play games in front of my daughter, she's only 3 years old, but when I watched the ME3 cinematic trailer with her sitting on my lap, she cried for hours that "the spaceships are killing everyone".. I don't know why people are so focused on nudity and love.
Then again, I was raised in France, where nudity is not frowned upon, and where you see naked people in just about every commercial on TV..

It's because Asari are "sensual" creatures, so they actually undress for sex, as oppossed to humans who are probably all from the planet "sexually repressed, conservative, christian americans gather here", as evidenced by Shepard keeping his/ her clothes on even when he/she is in bed with Liara.

As someone who owns and has played games with plenty of nudity and sexual content, I have no problem with it being in games, obviously. It's when people openly demand for longer and more gratuitous sex scenes that make me scratch my head and wonder why anyone would want that.
And yes I am aware of the issues of characters wearing clothing during scenes in the shower and bed and what not. Those can be easily fixed.

I''d be fine with that, as long as Bioware provided artistic endings that lead into lots of speculation from everybody!

In the ending, they could go eat a vegetarian dinner so that no animal is ever mistreated in the making of the game. They would have a choice between a blueberry smoothie, spinach, or tomato soup.

I'm against the mutilation and digestion of harmless little vegetables who never hurt a soul. Not even if they come in three colours:crying:
If Bioware did that I'd never buy a game by them ever again.
I think they should draw a nice picure witrh crayons in the end and you could choose to either draw the sea, a field of grass or a nice red apple.
And you could speculate wonderfully if there was an art contest and if there was, which picture would have one?
That would be so artistic!!!!!!!!!! Wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!
