Why can we see mutilated genitals, but our LIs are covered up?

For some reason, in American media violence is more appropriote than sex.  It's screwy when you think about it, but there you go.  I know Mass Effect was made in Canada, but anything that wants to be successful in America has to follow those rules of decency.

And Bioware has plausible deniability with the Banshees.  Maybe we're not seeing what we think we're seeing, we're just seeing... something else.

I always found that funny. A game can have tons of violence and gore and nobody gives a damn, but god help you if they show bare boobies even once.

Personally, I'm glad. BioWare's character models and animations are (mostly) improving, but the romance scenes are awkwardly mechanical. It's like watching the R-rated after hours lives of those animatronic performers at a Chuck E. Cheese.

Uncomfortable.

Why does that image bother me more than the Banshee image...

Regardless, I'm not nearly enough of a pervert to want that level of sexuality in a video game. I worry for anyone who does.

Banshees are bad example since Asari don't really have anything down there.

I'd rather pay for that than the gun-lotto.

Cosmic Horrors, Body Horrors, good American home grown violence, complex moral themes... and of all things Bioware thinks that a woman's naked breast are too much for people to handle.

The Catalyst makes more sense than Bioware and video games aversion for nudity in context.

IE who takes a Shower with there damn clothes on like really if you did want to show anything just build a damn shower door and have fog up from the hot water.

Aww, don't sell us Americans short. RDR was completely groundbreaking for nudity in a triple-A game! And, you saw how that worked out.

I don't think I'm seeing things. That Banshee has a peach.

Also...

This is why it's so hilarious to watch Game of Thrones with my family. The violent parts we'll have like "Damn! Awesome!" reactions to and the nudity theres awkward laughs... the show has actually gotten us more comfortable with cracking jokes about... that.. lol and such. It's actually kind of nice.

ME1 happened first for the partial nudity sex scene (which was so mild it's ridiculous), and after DA:O for the bi-sexual romances. I kid you not.

Bioware and Nudity never went hand-in-hand after a certain media outlet decided to pick on them during a slow news day.

but hey, thats what your imagination is for...

But that event happenned after ME1. Or are we talking about something earlier than that?

Happened after DA O..which did have bare breasts

There weren't no boobies in DAO, what you on about?

Don't tell me the Desire demon's toplessness was a figment of my imagination.

Shh, it's more entertaining to imagine asari babies explode out of their "mother's" chest like a xenomorph. That'd explain quite well why they mate with other species', too.

Yeah they do.

Not the "Does Liara have a Vagina?" debate again...

I think it's silly that Bioware can design these fantastic alien creatures, but they can't design genitals.

Am I reading this correctly? Did you really just start a thread to discuss banshee genitalia?

I guess they could have something down there to for liquid waste and a birth canal but nothing sexual.
