I wouldn't mind Protehans in MP, but they'd need to be super-rare (rarer than ultra-rare) so that you'd hardly ever see them.

The current rumor mill says there will be a Prothean MP choice in the future, odds are it will come attached to one of the 'paid' SP DLC in the future.

What were the Geth looking for in a Cerberus lab in Firebase Glacier? And why were the Geth on Tuchanka in Firebase Giant? And why were the Geth on a Cerberus fighter base in Firebase White?

pfft.....so much for "LORE".

It's not so hard to explain - Cerberus experimenting on Geth, who then escape, or Geth overrun a facility, or a small team of heretics wind up on Tuchanka to aid the Reapers. Big planet, after all...

As opposed to thousands (heck, even dozens) of Protheans suddenly wandering around - while at the same time, it's stated pretty clearly that they're all extinct, and there's a huge fuss about Javik being the last of his kind.

The former is easily 'hand-waved'. The latter undermines some major story beats in a big way. BIG difference.

Methinks you might be trying too hard to miss the point...  Image IPB

Know how many were alive before we knew about the one who was alive?  None.

How many more protheans might be found in stasis?

As for thousands, that's not necessarily required.  If protheans were introduced into the multiplayer then the maximum number you'd ever see would be four though I doubt they'd actually put a number on how many protheans were found.

I'm open to having Protheans in multiplayer - they can always think up another secret stasis pod base to justify it. Prothean adept with Dark Channel, Slam and Pull would be great fun, especially with the Particle beam rifle.

That could just make Javik the only Prothean you play as with no customisation options and limited amount of powers. Plus, only allow one person in a game to play with him :P

For all we know other protheans could still be alive that Sheperd didn't discover or know of yet. Just saying. :) Prothean multiplayer selectables for the win!

Fine, but we nerf them until they only use pillows for weapons, tissues for armor and only have 3 skin tone options.

i could care less about lore in multiplayer. they are already out of enemies and playable characters are getting slim. i would love to fight merc groups, collectors and all that other stuff in multiplayer. following lore limits the already very limited multiplayer.

The merc groups are on our side now so they would need to be added as playable characters.  That would stay within the lore too. If you read all the stuff in the SP campaign it tells you that Aria's merc groups are hitting different locations & supplying weapons & ships (or maybe Hackett said it). So they are perfect for new playable characters.

And Collectors definately need to be added as enemies.  Just because Shepard blew up one base doesn't mean they're completely gone.

Merc groups use the same classes we already have. Even though MP might care about lore, it doesn't really care about timeline - you can play all those MP maps even if your Shepard hasn't secured them yet. In different playthroughs you might just ignore them - so what would be N7 teams doing on Noveria, Tuchanka and so on if you just skipped the places? You can do the same ignoring recruiting the mercs - therefore merc groups would be perfectly fine as enemy. Even if you kill Santiago on Zoria and keep shooting all the mercs you see - they don't attack you all the time on Omega. If not every merc is aggressive every time, not all merc troops/platoons/whatever would have to accept the deal with Aria and Shepard.
And why couldn't the MP matches relate to N7 missions from before the invasion - hence shooting mercs and collectors? There is no specific time given in MP. It doesn't really break the lore as much as hordes of playable protheans would.

If I was to follow my game play lore then batarians are all but gone I wiped out a whole planet of them be4 the reapers hit and I killed that one batarian in me1 in the bringing down the sky dlc

Just don't like 4 eyeballs looking at me at once so they had to go call me racist lol

PS... to the shepherd clone comment he was not a clone if you watch me2 at the start he was just brought back to life with a few add-ons annoyed me thou I lost my face scar being brought back.

and i agree i would love to use Jav's rifle in mp sweet sweet beams husks turning into green puddles of ooze in its wake

Lore says... Potentially:

Quarians are deads
Geth are dead
Shephard is dead

And that depends on the player. I'm pretty sure that "lore" for bioware is 100% paragon perfect completion (nothing missed, all choices with maximum awesomeness). And of course that means (for all we can do) that JAbik was placed in a cloning vat and we can havce as many protheans as we want.

I'm ok with that.

Call me crazy but this "lore" you naysayers refer to was written by Bioware....they can just write ome new lore to incorporate whatever they want. Lol case closed.

I don't see why they couldn't just make up some lore (you know, the same way all lore is made up) to justify a new Prothean character. The galaxy is a big place, and it isn't out of the question that there are undiscovered stasis pods somewhere. I personally wouldn't care if they didn't even explain it, as the multiplayer and single player campaigns are separate entities in my eyes.

So give me my Prothean adept, please.

Disagree. Multiplayer is for fun, i dont care about lore.

I want a prothean adept with dark channel, pull and slam.
And a prothean engineer with new skills.

the protheans buried stasis pods all over, its not unreasonable that there could be a few more still active, that have not yet been discovered. I agree a whole prothean faction wouldn't make sense, but having a playable prothean character wouldn't be that bad imo.

It's a good point that you'd only ever see four protheans... the rest you can pretend like don't exist. :D

It would cheapen Javiks character arc is the main thing.

There's supposed to be a prothean sole survivor. The shepard of his cycle. Not an entire friggin black ops team that was really good at hiding.

Well, I'd be more than willing to see a single-player campaign turn up another outpost similar to ilos where some living protheans might have endured.

Remember, it's a big galaxy, and according to the codex the Citadel races have basically stopped exploring the galaxy since the rachni war out of fear of finding another advanced hostile race.

But, until there's something in single-player or books or something that says, "gee hey look we found a lost but intact prothean colony" then no, they shouldn't be in multi-player.
