No Prothean MP characters please(unless there's an absolutely amazing free SP DLC to explain it)

The only way I can see it happening is if BioWare releases DLC with unique maps and characters that take place back in the Prothean Era, that doesn't factor into GR.

Won't happen though, both for gameplay and technical issues that BioWare will not want to deal with.

I'm going to voice support for the OP.

Bringing in protheans as a playable MP race would not make sense, and I hope BW never does it. I know BW could make it make sense, but it would still be bad regardless.

I backhanded the quarians into extinction in my playthrough, and you're giving me a multiplayer with Quarians in it? Bosh'tet, please. Remove the quarians from multiplayer, and then I'll see about supporting an anti-prothean multiplayer movement.

How do you explain Geth as teammates then?

How do you explain Geth as teammates then?

I have a much harder time explaining that and justicars. Because those both take place after tuchanka. I guess for geth you could argue that many joined your side in the fight before priority rannoch was finished. you know after the consensus mission.

 Disagree.  This is MP and has zero bearing on the story and nor should it conform to its limits.  Include the Prothean and add his awesome ability.  Perfect fit.

Large parts of Multi-player don't make sense, like why Geth are in Cerberus bases, and why would an elite N7 team be sent to clear Geth from a Cerberus base, and why were Geth on Palavens moon? To make multiplayer make sense you have to make up scenarios in your head and pretend you're playing them out. Is it too much of a stretch for 4 Protheans to be discovered in another Prothean bunker?

I like that idea too, as an additional game mode, but the down-side of it is it limits Protheans to only certain maps and that game mode.

Your first mistake is trying to fit MP into the lore and story.  It doesn't, so dont' try.

Not really, no. It's just utilizing the in game enemies and the in game allies. In in game locations.

Because none of the Mass Effect storyline until now has featured any sort of retcon...

I don't care if it makes sense, it's fun. We already have geth running around in anyone's universe, including those that haven't encountered the geth yet or destroyed them. Makes little to no sense, and I don't care because it's fun.

Multi-player barely makes sense with lore, the fact you have Cerberus and Geth on maps that they never appeared on in Single-player shows that at most it's only loosely following the story-line. Much as I love Protheans (and Dark Channel), it would be very strange and unrealistic to see Protheans in MP. Not unless a DLC comes out for the game where a hidden cache of Protheans in stasis come out of hibernation.

so whats wrong with  getting a message saying they found some random protheans, give MP the particle rifle, and a new porthean inspried map so people can enjoy playing a new race? you know you dont have to play them if they do ifact make them avalible right?

There were hundreds of Prothean storage facilities dotted across the galaxy, there could be many more Protheans out there. If people are already making up scenarios in their head about why Geth are in Cerberus bases or Palavens Moon, is it too much that they "pretend" that more Protheans were found at another dig-site? If Bioware added a footnote or a DLC planet where a Prothean outpost was found, with the preserved Prothean team still in stasis, would it bother you seeing them in multi-player? Or maybe Bioware simply tell you that another station was found?
