yea, I thought they pulled a Halo with Mass Effect as well. Now were going to have to sit through an RTS spin off, an expansion pack, a prequel before they finally just throw a forth game out there.

The Reapers will became somewhat like the Darlaks from Doctor Who. A great threat that will never be killed off because the audience is familiar with them and moving onto a lesser threat would be uninteresting. Plus, when the goal of your villain is the destruction of all organic life, how could you possibly meet a greater villain?

They also promised multiple times of giving us an ending that wouldn't end with a cliffhanger and one that would have closure. Are you really going to take BioWare's word for this being the end for Shepard, when they are truly not the ones who make that desicion? EA can demand whatever they want and BioWare must follow, that's kind of what happens when you sign the contract to work under a huge company name like EA.

My bet - ME4 is a micro-transaction based game set up for the new console. It will have a multi-player campaign mode, as well as horde mode. You will still need to get most of your classes/weapons from booster packs, AND you'll have to buy mission packs as well. (Noveria mission pack, Mars mission pack, ect.)

I don't think that I'm naive enough to invest in a ME4, not after this clusterf**k. For those that are saying "Well they'll get the ending right this time, and a 4th game could be good"; I wish I had that kind of blind faith.

I'm betting that if they make a Mass Effect 4, which I'm pretty sure EA will demand, it won't be an RPG except perhaps in name only. It'll be a CoD clone in a Sci-fi universe. Basically, Halo with Asari.

And there won't be any of this "tailored universe." One universe, one canon, one story.

It works for Gears, Halo, and CoD, and they make a lot of money. That's all EA cares about, milking franchises.

An abomination? Sure. But Bioware seems to be EA's answer to Infinity Ward, so any RPG elements will wither away until they're gone. We're almost already there anyway.

(The other option is an MMO, but seeing that TOR is apparently having a rough time of it, I don't see them sinking a ton of money into a universe they basically blew up.)

ME4 = Halo 1. Now who's depressed? :?

You're assuming they wouldn't make a new protagonist.

You know, like they did with DAII. The ME Universe isn't just Shepard.  He/She becomes a huge part of it, but new heroes and individuals eventually will rise or were there (if they are planning prequels instead of sequels, which if so, lame).

Honestly, I would prefer a new protagonist.  Shepard was great, but after ME3 I just want his story completed and complete closure given so I can forget about all the crap he goes through.  Giving him another game is just exhausting.  He's already been to hell and back billions of times.  It's time for him to enjoy that retirement.

Kind of happy actually.
I kinda prefer people that openly hates me rather than those who pretend to be nice than stab me on the back.

but did EA ever say the same thing?

I don't see the point in it, if they conclusion of the war gets sorted in the expansion, then what's the point for a 4? Building back the galaxy after everything is ****ed?

Quite the Anti-climax.

Does no one else see it coming?

They're gunna do a "Halo: Reach" kind of game next. A prequel.

Different cycle, tons of room to create a new story and more characters, but you already know how it's going to end, the Reapers win, but you get to see exactly how they won. Worked for Reach, wouldn't be surprised if they do the same thing.

I'm not reading through all this,.........suffice it to say, the BS ending we were fed, is now looking like a "harbinger" of the ME future. I barely finished typing that before grabbing the great-white porcelain-phone.
That isn't supposed to be funny nor witty, just plain reflux induced bile.

Because prequels worked so well for Star Wars...

Infact, the large majority of prequels end up being abysmal both movie and game form as the inevitable continuity issues arise and the suspense is pointlessly wasted.

Bioware royally screwed ME3 ending up... I find it hilarious anyone has faith in a new ME prequel that would be poised to screw up the ENTIRE ME Trilogy with its screw up.

I don't even care about ME4, whether or not it's in planning. As far as I care, the Mass Effect series ended with the destruction of the Reapers. You can't do anything greater than the biggest threat in the galaxy being eliminated. THAT was what the entire series led up to.

Halo 4 is coming out this year, therefore Mass Effect 4. Impeccable logic.

Casey Hudson said that no other installments of the ME series will take place after ME3, rather during or prior the events of the series.

The whole point of the Mass effect series is to make big galactic changing decisions. SO I just can't see how they could go into the past of the ME universe without destroying the lore. Like if we play during the Krogan rebellions, we all know how that ended and it can't be changed. Eeven If they went to another cycle like the Protheans, they lost there war with the reapers can't change that. They can't make a game that everybody already know the ending of... That's absurd.

Pretty much one point is true enough .. there can't be Mass Effect 4 without Shepard ... Shepard are us who defined the story of the trilogy .... EA will never end a franchise when it had so much potential

That is according to you. Bioware however, clearly disagree. As shown in the following statement:
"However, most folks appear to agree that the game as a whole is exceptional, with more than 75 critics giving it a perfect review score and a review average in the mid-90s." -DR. RAY MUZYKA-

I will not purchase it. Mass Effect was always about Shepard and his friends to me.
