Even after we're told that we're getting an extended ending DLC with cutscenes that isn't as abrupt or nonsensical? Even after the Patrick Weekes interview where he stated what could have been better with the ending? Even after the DLC was announced to be free? What'll it take to make the fans happy? Will Bioware Edmonton have to go out of business after EA's stock drops and all empoyees be shifted over to develop casual mobile game spinoff of EA Sports franchises in order to sate the fan rage?
It isn't about being upset. It comes down to a game that had personal themes that became a game that made you conform to what was being asked of you to do.
That one word I placed in bold is one of the issues for me. On one hand, there was and still is a huge group of people who have played the series not because they were hardcore gamers but gamers who appreciated something innovative. Players who loved the idea of shaping the personal growth of their characters.
A DLC that explains why the ending was the way it was? An ending that makes you do something without question after years of having that one power of doing? I have a great love and respect for the games that BW releases but I feel that someone (EA) maybe, wanted to be finish so they could review the units sold. Now that is high speculation on my part and I apologize. But a game of this magnitude did not deserve the direction they took. So it is not just about the fans complaining without cause.
Had they bit the bullet and released the first vision they had, IMO, I think it would have still been great. It isn't about a handful of people dissappointed, it's about many. Personally, I would rather spend my money with BW for the games they create but after being on board with them when this series was in its infancy and supporting the developers by purchasing DLC, I feel that there is now a distance between BW and the gamer.
Many casual gamers can rush through this game just to say they beat it but the core audience will catch smaller things that aren't so small like the change to Mordin's voice actor. Why didn't they just use the likeness of Liz Sroka since she conveys Tali's emotion greatly, as the face behind the helmet? And a host of other things. But DLCscenes will not be able to fix that. DLC extra scene content doesn't give choice back to the player. So this isn't complaining without cause. This is complaining because many of us care about the series.
