I prefer fun over not fun. It's up to you to distinguish that line. Same thing with happiness.

Ewoks, Midi-Chlorians, child Anakin, Darth Dooku, Han shot second are much worse than Starchild

Hey, Ewoks and Dooku aren't that bad.

Even as a child I hated Ewoks and wondered why they didn't use Wookies for that movie.

Dooku is meh, they could've done much better with him.  It's not so much that he's bland as that his character is a waste of potential.

BioWare. I found Mass Effect at its best more enjoyable than Star Wars at its best. Which is not to say that I dislike Star Wars, but I prefer ME.

George Lucas at least had a vision and ending in mind when he did his films. In fact I think the films plot lines, other than the Ewoks, was pretty tight from a storyboard perspective.

Lucas just couldn't direct for crap. Hired the wrong actors and some of the other stuff just seemed too cartoony.

The best science fiction is science fiction that is believable.

Star Wars at its best

KotOR - made by Bioware
TESB - not directed by Lucas
Thrawn Trilogy - not written by Lucas

Kinda sad when the best work in the setting you created is done by others...

Lucas was and great writer and idea man. The reason his movies keep getting worse is because the more influential he gets, the less he is told he cant do. When someone else is directing the film and Lucas doesnt have as much power, they can say, yeah, your idea is great, but if we make one small change it will be even better. For a long time now there has been no one to tell Lucas what small changes will make his stories better.

That's not sad. That's more common than anyone realizes. Most creative works have far more people involved than just the guy who gets all the credit. Zahn had editors.

Lucas, who is credited with Star Wars: A New Hope, sought input from Spielburg, Coppolla, and Scorsese.

Lucas' problem is when he stopped seeking input.

Exactly.

If Lucas just remained a producer and offered insight but allowed others to direct, the prequels probably would have been good.

Although I would have prefered episode 1 was more like episode 2 and episode 2 more like episode 3 and then give Darth Vader some real nasty business.  Darth Vader should have been a jedi hunter killer, not some emo guy who had mommy issues.

Neither. I would prefer to choose something else. To be made to choose between these two options is the same as being made to choose between the endings we were given instead of telling starkid we won't take the choices we have been offered...

And that's offensive to a man/woman who has defied the Reapers from minute 1.

The original Dune > all adaptations and novels by other writers
B5 directed by JMS > any material not produced by JMS

Gene Roddenberry.

I appreciate that you were creative in how you expressed your question, but the decided the reason it was asked was not done in the context of celebrating the work or accomplishments of science-fiction. This is a subtle, but important aspect in determining how to choose a decent sci-fi writer.

I regularly experience many deserving works of science fiction, as such it was decided rather than picking one of the choices presented or wasting a good vote, to vote on behalf of all mankind to a better writer. Everyone has use for good science fiction, and something as simple as a good writer could really brighten up their day. Thank you to the fine folks at your local video rental store for accepting this nomination and the fan who made this satire possible.

I would say Lucas is a great visionary and succeeded at creating one of the richest and most loved settings of all time.

He can't write or direct for **** though.

Holy crap, that's easy. Bioware over George Lucas. Even if ME3's ending was bad, nothing compares to the horrendous decisions Lucas has made.

Lucas is better. He never created something that totally destroyed the entire universe everyone cared about so much or outright lied about anything. Hate Jar-Jar as much as you want, but my overall feeling from Star Wars is positive, and right now ME makes me sad on net.

Bioware cant be compared to Georgie. He has gone on his way to ruin Star Wars... Everyone else makes better stories with the mans own universe than the creator himself, which is funny.

George Lucas had more freedom in the NT than he ever did in the OT, that's why it sucked more. No one could tell him most of it was crap.

BW on the other hand only has itself to blame. Or at least didn't have the luxury of being given sound advice.

ME is too "small" to ever compare to SW, though.

love both Mass effect and star wars universes. i'm just staying away from episode 1 of Star wars from now on. and for mass effect well if the Name Drew Karpyshyn isn't in the writers section im not going to read it. as for ME3 from now on until it is fixed. i'm turning my xbox off after Anderson and Sheperd say "best seats in the house."

I noticed that to. anything that doesn't have old George at the controls is pretty good but the games are going back down. they started getting good with the playstation and n64 but that new kinect once is just awful.

GEORGE FREAKING LUCAS by a land slide.

Want to know why? It's really simple.

He made Episode 1 and pu the kid friendly Jar Jar in it and it was kid centric and we chewed him out. He LISTENED.
He made Episode 2 and it was more for teenagers and we complained less. He listened.

Then before Episode 3 came out he said 3 came out he said it will do horrible at the box office compared to 1 and 2 because he took all the fan advise and put it into the movie for adults. He went against what he wanted to do and made the DARK Episode 3 that we all love. We went out and bought it and loved it. He went oh... Ok I was wrong. <------ Bioware won't admit their mistake and will not FIX it. You can't remake a movie, they could FIX this ending by taking Star Child out, but they refuse.
