Hi there!

i really love the soundtrack that came with the N7 edition
when adding the soundtrack to itunes, i can edit the album name and the track number without problems - unfortunately, this information does not get saved within the .wav files and i have to edit the file informations on every computer i have anew

and there is something in particular that i miss:
i can't add the cover to the files - if i try to add the cover (that is included with the soundtrack) it simply does not get saved

i tried downloading a tag editor (mp3tag) to add the album information, track number and album cover to the metadata, but (at least with mp3tag) this was not possible

is there some kind of DRM on the files, so that they can't be edited?
or is it something special with .wav files?
is it somehow forbidden to change the metadata on the soundtrack files?
if yes, why was the album cover and the album information not embedded in the first place?
if not, how can i edit it?

many thanks in advance!

I'd like to know this too. There isn't even any album data on mine, it's the work of an hour or more to try and get them all in the same place!

WAV files do not support ID Tags or other metadata such as album art.

You'll need to convert the soundtrack to a different format if you want to add such things.

If you have iTunes, it's really easy to do. By default, it will convert them to iTunes Plus AAC format (256 kbps, stereo), however I chose to opt for the Apple Lossless format instead.

Unless you want to end up three copies of the soundtrack on your PC, firstly do the following:
1) Open iTunes
2) Edit -> Preferences
3) Select the Advanced tab
4) Untick "Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library"

Next add the soundtrack to your iTunes Library:
1) File -> Add Folder to Library
2) Browse to soundtrack folder (in my case, C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\Bonus\\Soundtrack)
3) Click Select Folder

If you're happy with the default iTunes Plus AAC format, simply highlight all the files from the soundtrack, right click, and select the "Create AAC Version" option, the soundtrack will then automatically be converted to AAC format for you and added to your library.

If you'd prefer encoding to a different format (e.g. Apple Lossless or MP3):
1) Edit -> Preferences
2) Under the "General" tab, click the "Import Settings..." button
3) Change the Import Using: setting from AAC Encoder to Apple Lossless Encoder or MP3 Encoder
4) For Apple Lossless the setting is automatic. For MP3 you can chose Good, High, Higher or Custom quality settings.
5) Select music, right click, "Create Apple Lossless Version" or "Create MP3 Version" etc.

Then you can proceed to add track information, album artwork, etc. as normal.

If you haven't already got it, the official soundtrack artwork is available here - just as well considering the tiny included cover.jpg in the album folder, the Credits.txt includes track information.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!
I eventually figured out how to add it into my WMP library. It was simply a matter of deleting the entire rest of my library so that I could actually find the tracks, then editing their library info. Should I consider doing the iTunes thing?
I've never used it.
