I was looking at another thread and Fox216b brought up what I thought were two good points about the ending and the hubbub. Here is the post but it really comes down to these two lines:

Saying "i didn't get what i want" is annoying and sounds unrealistic.

Saying "We didn't get what we were promised" no that's not whining, that's simply telling the truth.

Both are valid points I think.

My take is that the problem is that a few select people said things they should of and I imagine that when they went and talked to the developers/programmers about what they said those people put them in their place.

Ive worked in programming and have had bosses do the same thing:

Boss: We are going to XYZ and its going to be swell!
Programmers: Sure...we can do that. We will need more money and more time to do all this though
Boss: Oh...we can't do that! Has to ship in March and we have all the money we can use.
Programmers: Ok well then here is plan ABC then

What they should have said was nothing until they talked to the programmers to find out if it was possible. Higher ups don't tend to do that though but I betcha money that bioware will do that from now on!

In the end though, bioware has extending the olive branch as far as they ever will. Everyone can shout to the heavens or various places on the internet and the promises those few people at bioware broke will never get fixed or fully addressed. Asking for more than what bioware is giving though is just going to sound like a bunch of people saying 'I didn't get what I want' though.

(this next bit workes better if you play your national anthem (no words though)..when you got that qued up read on)

It's not all for naught though! The hold the line men and women won something great. They did something that has never been done before in gamming history*. They stood their ground, demanded a better ending, and bioware relented and is trying to improve upon their ending. Whether you all were the minority or majority it does not matter...what matters is that you all happened to help make the overall game hopefully that much better.

That's not all though. This is not a minor victory. It's a fired shot across the bow of every gaming company out there. It's a victory for all gamers because I will guarantee that at this moment every game company that is producing something for future release is dam sure not going to pull a bioware and frack up the ending like this. Oh no! They are going to spend that extra time and money to make sure this does not happen to them. They are going to keep their mouths shut and not promise the world when they can only deliver something else. They now know just how tenuous the relationship between developer and customer is.

So from someone that liked the ending but also wanted a bit more...Thanks!

* Yes i'm aware that people have affected change in computer games before. Never before like this though. To compare the hold the line people to the likes of people grumbling about a game like Fallout 3 sullies what I think is a pretty important accomplishment that will have major ramifications on the industry for many many years to come.)
