I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favorite thread on the forums!! So much winning happening right now.

Personally though, I can't see ever getting into a Mass Effect movie with Shepard as the protagonist. My vision of Shepard is so specific to my character, I don't even like watching videos on Youtube with someone else's. It just feels...wrong. Even if I could get over the looks, the personality would be hard to pin down. If the movie Shepard was too much of a Paragon, I'd be equally put off. I definitely agree that First Contact would make a better setting.

Until I find an actor who looks exactly like my custom Shepard (see avatar) I will accept no movie of Mass Effect!

(unless they release said movie as a customizable CGI film, only available on PC and consoles)

Sheploo.

No no no. Vanderloo is model, not an actor. Not an option. Not an option.

Also he's gettng a bit old.  I don't think he really looks like this anymore (although he's still smoking hot).

Keira Knightly is wayyyy too conservative to play a character like Jack, and Milla Jovovich is a bit too liberal to play Tali. Perhaps a swap?

What does this mean? This a joke? I'm serious, am I missing something?

The purpose of actors is to present the character, it doesn't matter what they are really like. Keira Knightly would be perfect as jack. She is a very good actress. Not only that she has the look for it.

Characters like Jack need decent acting skills to pull off. Anne Hathaway would be a good choice based her talent and range. There are also the unknown actresses out there that would also do a great job. The key to it is the right director. Example: George Lucas vs. Irvin kershner.

Milla Jovovich has the naive innocence thing but is also capable of showing great passion as well. She could be good as Tali. Although I might chose someone of Middle Eastern descent. Since Quarians are loosely based on that culture. Its really about the subtle things an actress from the Middle East could add to Tali.

Tali can be anyone really since its mostly voice and body work. Tali will likely be digital, as would Garrus, the Krogan and Salarians. I don't care what people say, "suits" are stupid.

Agree with Harrison Ford as Zaeed though. He getting on in years.

I agree with the people that say they thouldn't make a movie of ME trilogy, and rather do it on something else like First Contact War, Krogan Rebellion or something, there's plenty of stuuf to go about and ME isn't something you can adapt to a movie, I mean, how many different sheps are there? and how many playthrougs?. For me, for example, Shepard is a green eyed, dark haired girl, born in Mindoir, survivor of a threser maw attack at Akuze, who romanced Kaidan, who isn't even called Jane but Samantha and so on and it probably will fit a few Sheps for a few people, but it won't fit for so very many more, so I don't care who they cast for a ME movie as long as it doesn't adapt the game itself but some other story from ME universe.

No-one. I don't want a Mass Effect Movie. When you think of Movies from games, you think of Doom, Mario Bros and Tomb Raider. Or of course Uwe Boll.

Get the right director, and more importantly the right writer, it should be fine
 - How about Steven Moffat (as well as writing Doctor Who, he also co-wrote the new TinTin movie)

We already have something better than a movie.  We have a game, which is, basically, an interactive movie.

Mass Effect isn't a roleplaying game in the tabletop tradition.  Those games give you rules and let you build your own character and build your own adventures.  Mass Effect is a lot more like a movie in that it has a story which you work to.  Which, to some extent, limits how your character can progress.

Here's a better question than who to cast. Who should be cut from the main characters? Let's face it, they'll have to either cut most of the characters and story, or they'll just focus on Shepard and Liara (We know she's going to be the love interest) with Garrus and probably Joker as the secondary characters brushing quickly over everyone else, giving them as little depth as they can get away with. That's the only way they'll trim 40-50 hours of gameplay down to 2-3 hours of movie.

For ME1, I was still on the citadel the first time 3 hours in.

In my opinion, there's not a dirctor or writer in the world who will be able to do the story and characters of ME justice in the short space of a movie.

Nathan Fillon is amazing, but he would make me lol too much.
I couldn't see a Shepard who makes me lol every line (or even when he isn't syaing anything)!

Nathan as Conrad Verner

Adam Baldwin as Kal'regeer

Sheperd - Jason Statham (looks kinda like canon shep)
Female Sheperd - Noomi Rapace
Garrus - Liam Neeson (has the right voice)
Liara - Jennifer Lawrence
Ashley - Olivia Wilde
Wrex - Michael Clark Duncan
Tali - Milla Jovovich
Jack - Keira Knightly (exact body type for Jack but can she play angry?)
Zaeed - Mickey Rourke
Grunt - Ron Perlman (Ron Pearlman is awesome in everything)
Miranda - Yvonne Strahowsky
Thane - Daniel Day Lewis
Mordin - David Hyde Pierce
Jacob - Tyrese Gibson (If he gets back in shape. He wasn't looking too good in Fast 4)
Kaiden - Guy Pearce
Samara - Rebecca Romijn
James - Dwayne Johnson (He is pretty much Vega)
EDI - Tricia Helfer
Joker - Seth Green
Anderson - Keith David
Hackett - Lance Henriksen

I approve of the bolded names.

Swap roles for Ron Pearlman and Micheal Clark Duncan (Ron for Wrex and MCD for Grunt)

And I think Jeremy Irons would be better than Liam Neeson for Garrus

How about Brandon Keener for Garrus...he could easily look the part with prosthetics but his voice would be difficult to replace.

I picture an ME movie to be almost like Avatar, where it's 90% CGI and the human cast just stay human. But that might require a generous budget.

Also I have such a desire to see Liam Neeson as a renegade Shepard.

Sorry, but I have to disagree with a lot of your list.

Personally I don't like Commander Shepard having a weird English accent, and I'm not sure if Statham can act out the internal conflict constantly went on within Shepard's mind.

Not sure if Liam Neeson is willing to wear the Turian suit. I'm more than happy for him to play Shepard's part though.

Ashley is a very rigid, very by the book person, but Michelle Rodriguez is anything but (maybe most of her movies consist of her being that way)

Keira Knightly is wayyyy too conservative to play a character like Jack, and Milla Jovovich is a bit too liberal to play Tali. Perhaps a swap?

Harrison Ford is a bit too old to act a battle hardened, but bitter as heck soldier, IMO.

I don't recognize the rest of the cast, but Seth Green and Tricia Helfer must reprise their role, no question.

Go watch Domino, Keira is anything but conservative LOL.
BTW, Ron Perlman for Grunt is cool, but for Wrex is even better lol
sad thing is there is no way they can get a cast anywhere close to this list
OHHH! and FEMSHEP for mass effect movie! :o

Chris Hemsworth - James
Mary Elizabeth Winstead - Liara
Kat Dennings - Jack
Ron Perlman -Wrex
Seth Green - Joker
Yvonne Strahovski - Miranda
Eliza Dushku - Ashley
Kevin Bacon - TIM

I tried not to include too many A-listers. Hard to think of people who can play non-humans.
