I recently bought a new hard drive, and copied my old data over to it. I've just reinstalled DA:O/Awakening, and started a new game. Although I've completed Witch Hunt and Golem's Might before on Nightmare, gaining all achievements, the items that are given as a reward for this are not appearing in my new game. I still have the achievements on my player profile, so this poses a problem, as the achievements are used as the condition for whether you get the items or not.

So, if I effectively perform the same actions that got the achievements in the first place, will I get the items again? Or can I edit a file so that the game recognises that I have those achievements again?

If the achievements are reflected online, then they should sync to your game... this is not an instantaneous process at the best of times.  One option is to manually log out of the game and then log back in.  That's worked for some in the past.

Another option would be to close the game, go to My Documents>Bioware>Dragon Age> Settings and delete the profile.dap file (backing it up somewhere else, of course).

Once the file is deleted from that location, launch the game and log back in.  This may force the game to sync with social network to recreate the deleted file.

You can also do a directed Google search of the entire site by typing something like the following into the Google search field:

... you can play with the actual keywords and explore.
