Hello, I'm new here. I had the following issue when playing the game. On the ship or on the Citadel, Shepard wouldn't stop when I let go of the analogue stick. Instead, she would just continue walking but VEEEERY slowly. I had to always flick the stick a bit to make her go into the stoping animation. I thought my Xbox controller was broken which would be weird because I just bought it. But then I saw the same issue in other people's Let's Play videos. A quick shout-out on Twitter revealed that some friends had the same issue as well. Oddly, it isn't a problem during combat.
Anybody out there with the same issue? Any ideas what causes this?

The same thing happens to my shep all the time. Once he slow danced into a dead spot on the bridge next to EDI. I couldn't move him out (stuck in the environment) so I had to reset the game.
I'm guessing it's practice for when Shep sneaks up on people at the citadel to eavesdrop on possible problems to solve.

It's just your controller thumbstick not centering properly when released. I have a controller that pulls just slightly to the left and my Shep always continues to move left when I let it go. It seems the controls are just very sensitive in this game, as I don't usually have problems when playing other games.

At first I thought that as well, but I started playing with a brand new controller and it still happens. I've tried it with all three of my controllers as well.

I too have this issue with both ME2 and ME3 so I can relate to how annoying it gets, especially if it gets you killed for repeat Critical Mission Failure screen views.
I've read that there is a deadzone setting issue, where the game is set to be pretty low, meaning that the standard setting is more sensitive to an offset stick than other games. So there is very little that can be done through Xbox settings, as as I've researched on the topic so far. And it's only the left stick most of the time that gets this type of issue, so I wonder why there isn't better independent settings to deal with this.
One thing you could try is lowering the sensitivity on the sticks to make the pull slightly less annoying during combat, but then aiming can get more annoyingly slow too though.
