Ok, I'm specifically referring to ME2 here, but in ME2 it didn't really come of that he liked her. IMO it was mor "The Commander wants me in bed, so i better comply" sort of thing. Opinions?

I don't think that's the case, he's just nervous and over-thinking things. There's a line where she says she doesn't want to pressure him and he says she could never make him uncomfortable. If you reject him at the end of the romance and say they're better off as friends, he looks pretty dejected.

And then there's the tone in his voice when he says, "Right. 'Cause I'm in a great place to optimize firing algorithms right now." That didn't strike me as a guy who had zero interest and was just going along with it out of duty.

Agreed.

I can see how some people would think it's causal or purely 'stress relief' though, and that's fine if you want to play it that way too. But to me it's clear Garrus has been thinking about more than just sex with Shepard, which shows if you reject him after the romance has progressed abit. (Never ever picking that choice again Posted Image)

And he tries really hard to be romantic before the Omega 4 relay. He dresses up, brings wine, puts on music. Despite his awkwardness (Which is because he's nervous, not uncomfortable or not interested), he tries his best, and you can tell he really cares.

Besides, his love for her really builds up in ME3, and then there's no doubt. So even is he WAS just going along with it, he fell for her either way.

Garrus is written as being a close Shepard buddy through ME2 and ME3. I think he's capable of saying something if he's not interested. ...And then there's pretty much the whole of ME3 Garrus romance, which for my money is the best one in the game and the cutest.

Garrus is an impulsive chap, if he wants something he just goes for it. Shooting a merc holding a doctor hostage? No hesitation. Quiting his job without looking back? Saren needed to be stopped. Becoming a vigilante? He'll be stopping injustice, what's there to think about? Garrus is a gut instinct kind of guy, the ONLY time he isn't? When he's with shepard.

If shep wasn't there he'd have blown dr saleon's brains out. If shep wasn't there he would have gunned down sidonis without a second thought. Shep makes him hesitate because he respects her so damn much. He wouldn't  listen to her otherwise.  So when shep suggests "blowing off steam" garrus's gut instinct went "HELL YEAH!". It's only later when it sinks in that it's shepard he's doing this with. Shepard, probably the only person to  ever make the guy stop and think about his actions. He isn't hesitant because he's just "going along with it"  it's because this isn't just anyone he's about to get intimate with. Sleeping with the person you respect most in the whole galaxy would definitely make you nervous and second guess yourself.

But garrus presses on because it's something he wants to do, even though his gut instinct is battling the hesitation the whole time. You can tell by the third romantic conversation, shep and garrus aren't treating this as just a casual thing anymore. The dialogue gets progressively more serious

"I want to try it with you, I want a few moments just for us, before we throw ourselves into hell for the good of the galaxy"

"I want that too Garrus"

When we reach the final love scene, we see poor Garrus has pulled out all the stops to make the last few moments perfect. to a point where he over does it ^_^.  Finally he opens up and tells shepard "he just wants something to go right" meaning she is something he wants to go right in his life. Now, does Garrus love her at the end of/during ME2?. For me I believe he starts to actually love her romantically during the 6 months apart, it's hinted at during the date. But I can say he defiantly did care about shepard during ME2 , as in, she was never just a fling or something he “went along with”. It’s freakin shepard!  He DOES in fact fall in love with her in ME3, when it actually happens is up to the player’s interpretation.

I think so. I didn't romance Garrus, but he is still the best bro and you can feel the brotherly love between him and Shep (female or male). The romantic interests in ME3 definitely love Shepard.

I think the romance in ME2 was catching him off-guard. I think he just thought you were good friends, but he's going to try his best at it if shepard is interested.

By ME3 I think he has completely fell for shepard.

To me it started like it was a fling. When I went back to talk to Garrus a few times (after suggesting he and Shep hook up) I got the impression it was becoming more.

Actually I didnt realy like how this romance started.
For me it was like -
Shepard:Hey Garrus lets have sex, what do you say?
Garrus: Sure, Shepard, I´ll just watch some human/turian porn so I will know what to do.

But in the end, no one can resist Shepard. How do you not fall in love with someone like that. They´ve been together through a lot.

I think he's grown into it. In ME2 he treated it more like a fling experiment then in ME3 he was ready to be serious because she was and he does like her its just in 2 he didn't love her. He was interested in her in 2 for other reasons and was willing to go one more step further because she wanted to try it with him. Now I think he's really trying to get into the whole boyfriend role for her if they kept going into ME4 I'm sure he would've progressed into being marrage material for her.

I agree a 10/10 on these two! I thought his was the template for how all LIs on ship would go. I was eager to loadup my mshep/Tali and see how she'd surprise me what cute moments that'd have, what ups/downs would they support each other through, how would she pull off surprising her man with a Talieque break date I was so sure this would be spot on to reflect her personality as Garrus's was for him and fshep, and boy was I surprised! They rushed that whole thing!!! Their relationship seemed like it wanted to be deeper but then got sliced to pieces, then I tried thane/fshep and it just kept going downhill from there.
