Moreso, really, since they all had ongoing storylines that ran throughout the entirety of the game.

But arguing the point is a waste of time, as those convinced of the DA2 cast's shallowness can't see beyond their most superficial traits. (Fenris is emo, Anders is crazy, Isabela is a sex fiend, etc.)

Depth does not negate character flaws. Eg: Anders' crazy is still really crazy, even if he's deep.

Wow. DG wrote Irenicus. Now I know who to blame for many a nightmare. :P

I think my 2 favourite DA characters are Sten and Merrill.

I found Merrill *so* believeable. I think she reminded me of me, to be honest. And Sten was so enigmatic.

Believable/relatable and/or enigmatic. They're probably opposite, but I love both (or one) in a character.

I think my favourite from DAO is Alistair. Since he's pretty much me.... "Yes, that's right. I stopped you to tell you I'm an idiot."

DA2 is probably Varric for similar reasons hahahah. Although Isabela is close enough that I'm not sure if I can actually decide. I really like Isabela's growth as a character.

I do not agree. While it's true the way we interacted with DA2 companions could make it seem there was less dialogue (which has been stated as false), the characters had less layers of complexity. Their writing was more direct, more black and white.Every DA2 character seemed to embody one kind of emotion and stick with it.They were written to provide support for the setting. DA:O characters felt like they had purpose outside of the story, living unique individuals.Maybe thanks to having more info on their backstories and lighter chit-chatting

But I don't think we are going to reach a consensus about this, so let's agree to disagree :)

I got none of the cutsie imagery that was apparently supposed to come from that line. My reaction was this: :huh::mellow:

Perhaps my mind is just stuck in the gutter.

I never got the dirty imagery that was supposed to come from it. Lampposts in winter are kind of, you know, cold. Oww.

I liked Isabela in DA2. She clearly had the most personal growth trhough the game. Varric was pretty much the same at the end of the game. Unless I missed something.

I was ok with Varric not undergoing some kind of growth or change.  He seemed to be right where he wanted to be.  Still want to know more about Bianca though.

As long as one of the screw-ups is called Loghain Mac Tir, I'm on board.

Yeah, yeah. Unlikely, 'cause so many kill him off.

A girl can dream though, right? And if we ARE in Orlais...he IS in Orlais and....

Just gimme Simon Templeman already!

More on the above::alien:

Obviously,Mac Tir would not be canonically alive-no dead old NPCs should,if BW uses an import feature for world
consistency (the ME2 questionnaire/cartoon was awesome to avoid savegame import bugs).
You could opt NOT to recruit / kill most of your companions in DAO,including Alistair, and only 2 companions were made
canonically alive,no matter what you did (you know the ladies I speak of).
So if you import a save where your Warden offed Loghain,he should not appear and neither should anyone else who has no place to be in your world.
They could make these characters optionally recruitable. They did this in DAO-nearly all companions were created with full stories, interaction, and voice acting, and you were given the option to never use them at all.Did anyone think it
was a waste of resources to add companions you might have never used?No way -it added replay value and a twist.
Actually, according to a BSN poll,21 % saved Loghain, and 79% offed him.Add to that the surprising number of ppl
on European sites who recruited him versus killing him,let us suppose the tally stands at 70 / 30, in favour of
killing him. Now thats about a 1/3 chance that he lives. If you made him do the DR,he is in Orlais, and is the
daddy of the OGB.It is highly probable the Orlesian Wardens are mighty curious as to how the Wardens slayed the
AD,and live.I would imagine Morrigan would not be too happy with the idea of her secret become known before the
time comes,so she could just kidnap Loghain and put him in a coma behind the Eluvian LOL.Or,as I have read
somewhere on BSN,the Orlesian Wardens/Weisshaupt could have found a way, similar to Avernus` research,to stop or
reverse the corruption. Now it sounds familiar...there was a warden in the DA world who did not heed their
Calling...what was her name...LOL.:ph34r:Just throwing around silly ideas-but that is what the forums are for,are they not?

Anyway,it would be quite intriguing and could make for amusing moments if you were to trod around Orlais with
the notorious Hero of River Dane.I guess David Gaider, despite his self-confessed "unholy love for Loghain",will
off him anyway, but that, using Loghain`s own words,"would be such a waste of a good idea".
So I do not see a problem with meeting some NPCs from previous games,if the import feature does work properly.

like tenzin

It's a BioWare game. Mentors and family members exist to be killed off.

Or they hate you like the Aeducan brothers or Carver... wait,  thank God we still have Fergus, Rica and Bethany!

But its true most of the time BioWare/Mr. Gaider:"All your PC family members belongs to us. And we like to kill them to get a emetional response from you."

You're Alistair? Alistair is awesome! Out of all of Bioware's games, never have I had a better sidekick, except for maybe Garrus. Alistair, especially hardened Alistair is made of bad ass and win. Just the right mix of tough and personability.

And you liked Isabela eh? I found she wasn't bad as a character, but she gave me the heebee jeebees as far as relationships go. Actually - Would like to see some.. Uh.. Normal-er romance options this time? I love Merril but I often spent my time with her wondering if she wasn't going to stab me in my sleep. :P

I couldn't stand Isabella. I just couldn't take her seriously in that ridiculous gettup. And she was stupid. The whole qunari book thing....so stupid. I just wanted to lop off her head every time she existed.

I just presumed it was an obscure way of Alistair asking if our Warden had ever had sex before lol.

Or asking if s/he had bad sex, because licking in winter gets your tongue stuck, lol.

I just watched that conversation on YouTube to refresh my memory. It was Alistair using humour to avoid answering whether or not he was a virgin lol. So when he asks you if you've ever licked a lamp post in winter, he's actually asking you if you're a virgin too. After you answer him he'll tell you that he's never had sex etc.

Possible response;

"I've licked my share of lampposts, yes."

No dirty thoughts from that? Really?
