So I pretty much always take Garrus with me as he's good no matter what, and I'm tossed between Kaidan who has Reave or Liara who was Warp. Both of those work well with Banshees and Brutes which is normally what I go by when fighting Reaper forces... Any thoughts?
Best team for Priority: Earth (Playing as a vanguard)

I did it with Liara & Garrus.
Garrus sniping and taking out shields and barriers with overload, Liara benefiting from my squad cryo ammo and using lots of CC with singularity and stasis while I detonate those with charge and/or nova. Ofcourse, banshees and brutes taken out with Liara's warp, Garrus' AP ammo and Vanguard's Incendiary ammo.
Being a Vanguard makes the last 'run to the missile trigger' dead-easy as well since you can simply charge towards an enemy close to it.

I take Javik and Liara cos I like them best. Garrus is not that good imho.

Vanguard is my favorite class, I love the Charge ability, I also switched my bonus power to Dark Channel which makes killing Banshees, Brutes and especially Ravagers super easy. My only concern was that I believe Liara dies pretty easily, or at least quicker than Kaidan. But I like her for Warp

It doesn't matter to me. I just play the Benny hill theme song during the last mission and final 10 minutes anyway.
It makes me feel better and some how seems appropriate.

Really? I didn't use Javik that often because he didn't seem that great to me, but maybe my pairings with him weren't good

Dark Channel (Javik) and Warp (Liara) can set up biotic bombs regardless of enemy protections. Ideal for Vanguard.
Javik also has Lift Grenade (awesome, it can save your ass when Banshee grabs you, and it does insane damage, and sets up and detonates biotic bombs too)
Javik's Pull is decent, but I rarely used that.
Liara also has Stasis and Singularity, both are awesome powers.
IMHO Javik + Liara is the best combo in the game.

it would be better if you went by yourself, so that joker scene at the end makes sense
i took ashley and james, just cause i was hoping they would get reaped
my hopes paid off

Javik and Liara is a fairly good combo for the reason's Kronner mentioned.
Disagree on Garrus though. Probably will take Liara and Garrus yet again when I get there with my Vanguard.

Yes, because they wanted to make biotics completely ridiculous in this game if you just look at something under a biotic effect it explodes and deals more damage than anything else in the game.

I had taken EDI and I think that was a wise choice. Overload deals with barriers while incinerate helps with armor.

I went with Garrus and Liara and it worked pretty well. I had Dark Channel as my bonus power so I didn't need Javik for that. Liara did die quiet often but her Warp combined with my Dark Channel and Garrus' overload was perfect for banshees and brutes. That is until they started coming three at a time...

Yeah, when you figure out the fact that Javik's main biotic ability can combo with Liara...you got no reason to go with anything else.
As a Vanguard you can set up biotic combinations left right and center though.

Doesn't matter who you pick really...I did my insanity play through with Garrus and James.
