I'd like to see a batarian crew member, though I realize this is unlikely since Bioware wants to keep the team small. Does anyone else have thoughts?

Yeah as long as he's a wise cracking, human hating douchebag that you can joke around with.

And he shall be known as Billy, the brotarian.

Not so big on slavery.

Loves him some ultimate Frisbee.

I would love to see this idea. It would add good character without making him less... Batarian.

There's most likely going to be two new crew members. The life support room and the engineering stairwell are notably vacant for no other reason.

I think it would be cool if one of them was a batarian, given what happened with Shepard in Arrival. Not sure about the other though. I'm tempted to say someone from ME2, but their places in the story seem firmly set in stone.

Keep in mind Bioware wanted to keep the team small, so assuming they'll fill ME2's crew locations is an unlikely scenario.

I get the impression that Bioware doesnt want to include any of the other ME2 squadmates. As you say they are quite firmly set.

They wanted to keep the team small to sell more DLC squadmates. Did you really belive that "less squadmates for deeper story" thing?

I'll be honest: I was surprised we didn't get a Batarian squaddie in the whole trilogy. Seems like the only humanoid race we didn't get.

Lets keep this thread more towards what you'd want to see in a Batarian squad member. There are plenty of threads to speak about likes and dislikes with biowares squadmate and story decisions.

Aye. though it makes some sense with them generally not liking humanity. I imagine there would be quite a stigma for joining Humanities first spectre. Though in ME3 I think it fits better than the first two with the hegemony mostly gone.

EDIT: grammer/spelling.

Only Garrus can pull off a Batarian squaddie.

In all honesty I'd love to see one.

Zaheed and Javik are kind of stand offish at first, but it would be great to have companion that's openly hostile most of the time.

The stairwell is used sometimes...
Javik will be down there at one point, and so will Gabby & Ken...

He would be the janitor, and he'd stand there with his broom yelling insults at the rest of the crew. Now and then someone would yell at him to shut up and get back to work.

"Oh that's just crazy Terry. He's just angry because we keep moving his soap around."

Batarians are more than their four eyes. They tilt their heads a lot too.
