 I totally see potential for some epic similarities actually. I just can't get over my "racism" towards them so I'd be disinterested. I wouldn't buy it is what I'm getting at. 
Were it included originally it could have been interesting. A level headed 4-eyes to explain why the batarians hated humanity so much. Give them some sympathy.

I was a mindoir commander from day 1 though so I hated them before they even existed

I'd love to see a permanent batarian squadmate or at least a temporary one on a LotSB style mission. I'm interested in the batarian lore and so far it seems like we've only had a very onesided exposure to their culture. There was a short chapter in the first ME novel written from a batarian woman's POV and it really made me feel like most batarians were far from the generic terrorist we've been exposed to in the games so far. A female or male batarian should both be possible, especially after reading that the batarian model is "humans with a funny head" as I think a dev said somewhere.

And I agree on hindsight that perhaps Zaeed should have been a batarian...

Javik would also probably be the only one the Batarian would respect, if what I've heard about Batarians viewing multiple eyes as a sign of intelligence is true (explains their disrespect for humans at any rate).

I think explaining their hatred in depth would be a wonderful addition to the lore of the game.

A batarian crew member would be interesting, especially if he was an ex-Blue Suns member. It would make some interesting banter between him and Garrus.

Batarian: "You shot at me on the bridge!  Almost killed me, guess I was too fast for you eh Garrus?"

Garrus: "I got distracted.  If I wanted to take down your shields, I'd of done it."

Like I told one of my friends after Javik was announced as the DLC character. "I can't believe we got a Prothean squadmate before we got a batarian squadmate."

Never thought we'd get a hanar, vorcha, elcor, or volus because combat animation would be a **** for most of them and just listening to a vorcha talk for an extended period of time is maddening. But batarians use human animations and armors. There's great hostility between humans and batarians and it'd be great to get a view point into their evil slaving culture.

I havent had the pleasure of playing the Batarians in MP yet. I cant wait to get my Sentinel... or my soldier.

I'm sorry but having a Batarian onboard the Normandy isn't going to work out. They could of introduced one back in ME2, however in ME3 it's an Alliance vessel... you all know well enough how the Alliance and Batarians don't get along at all.

 Shepard is still a spectre (or at least is reinstated) so shepard could potentially recruit one if he/she felt they were good enough. Hackett would probably take it anyways. Anything that helps the Alliance retake earth seems to be good for him. Not like we can be picky with Reapers slaughtering everyone.

And while the Hegemony and the Alliance dont get along and Humans and batarians are obviously bitter towards one another its said many times that not all Batarians share the same beleifs as the Hegemony.
