The desire demon herself says that the wife and children are both her.

Fair enough. But I assume she considers herself real, which would make the wife and children real.

Might completely be conjecture, but since demons try so hard to experience reality, I think they know the difference between that and something they conjure up in the Fade. Otherwise it wouldn't interest them.

They know it's a place with lots of fun sensations where all the delicious food (emotions/concepts) comes from. There's no evidence that they consider it 'reality' and the Fade 'non-reality.'

It's just Disney land with a strangely difficult admittance policy.

But they do notice the difference.

I guess I'm still not sure what your argument toward having a desire demon in the party is.

That demons aren't evil? Or that they'd be fun to play with regardless?
Regardless of your answer (which I respect) it still won't be something that interests me.

Demons held up to their bargains. Maybe they are capable of lying, but maybe they are also recognize simple reason. Warden damn slaughtered droves of abominations and their most agressive kin and Desire Demons are smart - so it is better to make a deal instead of risking their position in real world.
Actually, the fact that demons never betrayed you is interesting.

IMO Desire Demon will be fun to interact, as well as fun to play. Awakening was way too short and dialogues too limited for satisfying interaction with creature such as spirit or demon.

That would be interesting.Justice changed a lot from Awakening to DAII.The kind righteous spirit that we all knew and loved became twisted, vengeful, and malevolent spirit due to all the hate that Anders carried inside of him(though he still had his sense of justice).I would see no reason why that couldn't happen to a demon

Cont...(stupid laptop submitted my comment before I was finished lol) Anyway as I was saying there has be someone out there who's pure enough or strong willed enough, that if and when a Demon tried to take control of them the essence of their being literally starts to change them or the way the demon thinks or views life. And with the Mage-Templar war most likely being the main focus of DA3 that would make the situation even more interesting should Bioware implement the(Desire)Demon companion.

Hmmm! Desire Demon........! That will be interesting.

I am thinking the said desire demon can be more like the Homunculous Lust from Fullmetal Alchemist (2003 anime) or Greed from Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood.

Both resemble the concepts of desire Lust and Greed. In the end both sacrificed themselves for the greater good after learning humility form others on their journey.

The demon could be like them. Little by little gain humility turning desire form a selfish emotion to a selfless emotion (love, friendship inspiring selfsacrifice).

Like a reverse of Justice, Justice is a normal spirit tuned into Vengence.

Desire could be a Demon who turns into a spirit of sacrifice and selflessness given time and effort.

What do you think.

Maybe it could be a choice of 2 companions, a spirit of (insert positive trait here) and a desire demon(or a pride demon) are trying to inhabit a body that is still currently living, but the person is no longer residing there(trapped in the fade?).

So, you propose copying Jade Empire?

Only if it's a guy. :P To be honest, I always thought that desire demons were a bit laughable.

I'm not sure about the love interest part, but it could work if written right. Though, it would be more fun, and a bigger shock, if the player didn't know she were a demon in the first place.

She would start out as just another interesting companion, maybe something like a servant to a high ranking lord, until she meets you of course. You rescue her from dangerous situation, and as repayment she brings you to her lord for a reward. During the feast he prepares for you though, you pass out and awaken in the dungeons.

It would seem that the lord of the manor is a blood mage, and your only chance of escape is with the help of his servant. She recounts the dark tale of how he came into power, and how he enslaved all his servants and the fellow lords. She pleads for help to escape his power, and you quickly strike a bargain. She will help you escape and lead you threw the manor, and all you have to do is kill the lord and destory a special rune on this person.

After the deal is done, she joins you on your adventure/quest. Of course, you don't find out her true secret until you and your companions are thrown into the Fade. Where you find her naked and surrounded in purple flames.....

A desire demon as a companion........hmm

Demons are not capable of feeling anything but the emotion that makes/forms them if I stand correct. This would mean that a desire demon can only feel..............desire.
In FFIX you had a companion that had 'indulgence' as its main character trade. All actions it did were from that perspective. Believeble in that game but a desire demon as a companion with that emotion as a main drive.......

Of course everything is possible but it has to be written very well to make it believeble. A desire demon is different than Justice f.e. because Justice's main goal primary is not to posses his host. A desire demon's first goal is to overtake the host to fullfill its needs.

I'm pretty sure desire demons don't harbor romantic feelings, they just feed on peoples desires like rage demons feed on peoples rage. So I'm not sure how they could be an LI.

No.

I'd rather have demons as summoned combat pets

This would be great for a spin or mirror view look at Justice. Maybe a Chantry Preistess willingly takes on a desire demon for some reason.

Im not interested in them wasting a slot on a demon. Save them for the fade and give us real companions.

Desire Demons we could let go peacefully: Desire Demon controlling Connor, Posessed girl(Kitty, also she would be in her 20's during mage-templar war), Desire Demon with templar from the Circle.

Why would you let any of them go peacfully?  Two of them posessed children and the other drops Templer armor.

Also, I don't know if it has anything to do with the topic but Desire Demons arn't necesarly "female".  Thats just a form they take to temp men (and some female wardens)

How about a 'female' desire demon possessing a male body? And better yet, make that 'female' demon in a man's body an LI. After all, there's no particular reason a 'female' desire demon would only want to possess a female body. Justice even has a (presumably trolling) conversation with Velanna about switching to a female body after Kristoff's had rotted away.

How confused people will be.
