I heard DA2 backlash was worse.
But it does seem sorta spoilish. The last 3 or 4 games that have come out by Bioware have recieved lots of backlash......and then ppl go out and buy the next.

No, we all enjoyed ME3.
But your faculties of reason will be questioned for liking an ending so full of plotholes. I still can't get around the fact that there are people here (however small a minority they may be) who don't see those.

As measured by what? Polls? Worldwide media coverage? Number of negative user reviews?

The ending didn't really bug me. It was the missing narrative that the player needed and wasn't told, like the Normandy thing (no spoilers). Trust me, I've seen all the posts. I'm not saying the ending is teh best evar, but it also didn't send me into a rage.

DA2 was far worse, I didn't see the death threats toward Casey Hudson that David Gaider had or the personal attacks towards people that didn't have an issue with the game, those became so bad they had to create a new discussion forum limiting posts to people that registered the game.

DA2 user backlash was definitely worse on the forums than ME3's, however, ME3's recieving more coverage. Also, this time the users are more organised. I imagine if DA3 fails, this place will erupt into fullscale war. Bioware won't survive it.

Your not the only one I very rarely post now as some on this forum just won't except that others have a different opinion.
OP I've been on these forums (and the old BioBoards) for a long time and the Fan Rage has been a growing trend ever since I have been on them, It just gets worse every time but the usual suspects always buy the next game no matter how much they say they won't after the last

Try finding some old threads about the Baldur's Gate novels, maybe not in the same intensity but definitely there.

People are b*tching about other miniscule things but that always happens.
I love ME1, ME2, and ME3, but the ending kills it all.

But can you blame the fans? DA2 was a ****-stain on Bioware's reputation, and while I know it has it's fans (**** why?), but jesus that game was crap. One thing, I'm glad is that DA2 cured me of my Bioware fanboism.

Now ME1 and 2 are both brilliant, and ME3 is the retarded stepchild. And so it goes.

The truth is Bioware has crossed some sort of "quality threshold". You know the uncanny valley? How the more realistic something becomes, there is a threshold upon which it will actually look MORE unlrealistic as people begin to see what's wrong with it rather then whats right.
Its like that. In truth, Bioware games are far better then pretty much everything else on the market, ME3's ending included. Its better then COD or BF, better then the Bioshocks and the Final Fantasies and this and that. But they've crossed a line where many of the users will only ever see what is wrong, and not what is right, no matter how good it gets or how much better it is then what else is out there.
Take a look at the Witcher. Its much more linear then the ME series but people only see the branches in the story. The voice acting is much more flat and the animations far more repetitive and simple but people only see how cool the good characters are.

Bleh, part of my post didn't make it.
The reason why I think there is the attachment to BioWare and its games is there aren't a lot of game companies that make games like BioWare, so if the game isn't to their liking they can't go to another company and get what they are expecting. Personally the only other company that has similar games is CDProjekt for the Witcher series is similar, but other then that I can't think of another developer that makes a similar game to me, for I don't get drawn to the Elder Scroll games.

Not that all the criticisms are unfounded, BSN just has a way of inflating issues and anger to a silly degree and people start acting crazy (not the majority though, just a small minority) and you end up with death threats like with DA2. What I tend to do in these moments is leave the forums until people start talking about other stuff than the one easy issue there is to pick on.
You'll see alot of these people come back for DA3 or whatever other game Bioware has in store. I'm pretty confident on that. And no amount of "this is the last time!" and "never agains" is really convincing me otherwise because its what they say EVERY SINGLE TIME.

ME3 rage is from the most poorly written ending to a plot ever witnessed by mankind.
From being in the middle of both, ME3 rage is definitely worse. It's lasted longer, and it's a lot more one sided. It wasn't 91% of people who were upset with DA2 after all.

Mere weeks before ME3 came out, if this board was any indication, ME2 was the worst game of all time and had effectively ruined the Mass Effect franchise.

Actually made me lol. Brava good forumite, brava.
