There are various hints of laziness in ME3.

You mean?

The entire ending
Tali's Face
Rachni rewrite
Geth rewrite
Cerberus is the main enemy
No Harbinger
Reusing the ME2 exploration system w/ reaper chasing for maximum annoyance
No vehicle sections
Reusing the same graphics ending which is showing it's age
Using GoW combat except make it worse, especially where cover is concerned
Map nearly all actions to one key (space bar)

I could probably go on but I think I'll stop here.

The photoshop job on Tali's hand was absolutely horrendous. And I think that everyone would've rather had a face for Tali rendered, and not Dianna Allers.

Being a total **** that I am, I will say:
No **** Einstein.

Still can't wait to someone form "Artistic Integrity" group come here and say:
"This is ours artistic vision that we are copying stuff form internet, pathetically photoshoping it, and then putting it in low ****ty resolution in game."

I don't mind the picture. Kinda wish they had refused to do it out-right if they really did want to maintain the mystery. At least then it would show that even though it was important to fans that they really considered it important enough to deal with whatever backlash there was. As it as it seems that revealing Tali wasn't important enough to model so they compromised with the pic. I am mostly okay with that as well, and understand that due to deadlines and budget that somethings can't be done. But then we get Allers. *sigh*

It wasn't any "one" thing they did that upset me instead its the general feeling that to the devs revealing Tali, wasn't all that important but Allers was. Not saying that was the case but if feels that way

I don't deny that Tali's Photoshop was badly done and the whole thing wasn't lazy. But this game has far bigger problems than what Tali looked like. Namely everything that takes place after the assault on the Illusive Man's base.

Nevermind the fan favorite who's been in the trilogy since the start Jessica Chobot's face needs to be in this game. Actually nevermind Allers looks horrible.

Not doing Tali's face as 3D model and show it when she takes her mask of at Rannoch was such a huge missed opportunity, just when I knew she was going to take her mask of I got really excited, and then the scene fell flat, still a great scene, but as mentioned, a missed opportunity to make it truly a scene to remember.

With so many amazing artists at Bioware, one would think they would come up with something better than a very bad photoshop job, that is just not right. I can't believe this was their artistic vision of Tali.

I will be using this in the future if I am going to play ME3 again.

I might sound whiney, but it has to be said, over and over again in every thread! mu ha ha ha! :S

bioware should've focused more on tali then wasting time on useless characters like diana allers tbh.

I didn't have a problem with Tali's picture myself, I'd always imagined her to have a human like face from the little you can make out behind the mask albeit with very pale skin & eye glow. The picture worked for me so I didn't mind that it was a photoshop. I'd have liked it if they could've based her on Liz Sroker and done a proper character model and reveal, but TBH if I had the inclination to complain online this would be way down on the list....

It just seems so half-hearted, and Mass Effect is a game about characters, and tali's face was probably the biggest character mystery in the game (outside of perhaps, "What's up with the illusive man anyway?")

Seriously. Just spend a week on doing tali's face right at the end of Rannoch. And there are lots of even better excuses to use to give the team the go-ahead to do it. Seriously. Just say, "We had a deadline, and there was so much to do, we just couldn't fit Tali's face into the game, on schedule, in a way that we thought was truly satisfying. But we know it's important to you guys, and it's been important for us on a certain level, so here it is. Bam."

And now that I think about, I might actually pay for it if that was the excuse. Like 5 bucks or something. Why not? Rannoch is one of the great campaigns of the story, and I'd love to boost the climax by a bit. Make great even greater.

I like the source picture and from a *distance* the photo is fine, but as everyone has said, close it looks like a HORRIBLE hackjob of a photoshop attempt. I couldn't have done any better, but I COULD have done the same.

HOWEVER, I think the idea of having the picture instead of rendering her face is fine. I mean, you guys saw what they did with Miranda's face, would you have wanted the same for Tali? Not me, I'm fine with just her mask in-game.

People always use Miranda's face as an example, but I say look at Samara's face. That blew me away the first time I saw it, so I know that can work. And default Shepard looks good, too. Apparently even Liara's face is based on a real person. So I say, go ahead and use a real person's face for Tali.

Just put some real effort into it, you know?

Ash Sroka isn't good enough for you, BioWare?

Could have at least photoshopped a picture of the actual lovely and talented voice actress at the very least.

The only way I may understand such a poor decision is if its intent was to make modding her face more accesible, that way everyone can find something that fits their vision of Tali. If not well... way to ****** everyone off, bioware xD

I ... Liked the receiving photo scene. As I've mentioned elsewhere I thought it a pretty nifty way of revealing her face and the scene was sweet.

Regarding the picture itself... hmm *ponders*

They should only have made it a mysterious reveal thing if they had a really awesome idea for it themselves.

In retrospect I personally think they should have taken the eg. 10 best fan-made suggestions and put it up for a poll. :)

There was some good suggestions among there that atleast I personally would have preferred.

Treating tali's face in this manner, especially considering how important she is, is a flat out crime. Why did we get a cheap photo shop where her fingers arent even correct? You should know better bioware! You're better than this, and I dont think you are, I KNOW you are.

I don't have a problem with the picture or model. My main beef is there are a couple of tailor-made situations where we could have seen a 3d render and nobody thought it was worth the effort.

Granted I feel the hand of EA giving the big squeeze but still ... yuck.

I could see that, but I wouldn't trust them to put in THAT much work into a model that would only be used for maybe a 30 second scene.  I mean really, they have to budget this stuff out and that would have taken a LOT of work to get right.

That said, they should have cut Allers and spent the resources on Tali's face, but still I'm not sure I would have trusted them to do it right...

Quarians are supposed to look the most human out of the alien races, though. Says as much in the codex.

A part of Tali's mystique and appeal was that noone knew what she looks like.I believe that there's a reason that you only see her photo shortly in a cutscene from a bad angle and I don't believe it's laziness. I believe it's because the developers wanted to maintain some of her mystique, while acknowledging that she doesen't look like:

If you want to keep her mystique, you simply don't show her.

I don't think that's the case. They did want to show her, they just ran out of resources and gave us the quickest photoshop job they could to check off the "Show Tali" item in checklist.

It's sad, yeah but like Gamble and Weekes said, resource management is part of game development.

Possible for both sides to be happy for the most part. Tali can look alien and still be humanlike in the face

If you're going to do something, do it properly. That's the motto I live by. It's something Bioware has apparently forgotten or never heard of. How in the hell did they think photoshopping a stock image and presenting it as a photo, in-game, was doing justice to Tali? Did they think the players so stupid that they wouldn't find out?

I don't mind the pic that they used even if the effort was minimal. I did, however,  hate that they never rendered her face which was made worse by the Austin Powers style way of cutting away from her face every time she takes off her mask. Why tease us like that? They should have avoided it altogether if they had no intention of revealing her face. She should have told Shep that all action has to be with suit on. deal with it
