The proper means of activation is to simply push a little reset button. Hold it for about 5 seconds. Boop! Done.
Or Shepard walks over to the red tube, looks around, see's the plug...unplugs it, shrugs, walks off stage left and flags down the Nornandy before Joker gets all yellow and runs away. Done.
