how pvp is possible in ME3,
how it would make sense,
how it would be balanced,
and show that the community wants it and that it won't be a complete failure,
He deserves to be left alone.
Since he explained none of these things,
pvp is the worst idea ever.

I find it pretty amusing you're saying stuff like players who don't like PvP don't need to play it. Guess what, players who don't like the absence of PvP in Mass Effect don't need to play Mass Effect Multiplayer either, they can play other games that do have PvP instead of trying to wax lyrical about all the so-called benefits of PvP.

Straight and simple, this game isn't meant for PvP. While there could be the possibility of some kind of PvP mode added after huge ammounts of balancing and rebuilding aspects of the game, the majority of the playerbase are opposed to the idea, with the exception of the vocal and (from what i've seen) generally unpleasant minority that feel the need to voice their opinion loudly and attack anyone who suggests otherwise. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of PvP games, but mass effect up to now has always been PvE, and if it continues as it is now, it always will be. Maybe there will be some kind of PvP in the future of the franchise, but ME3 isn't the place for it.

Three points go against PvP. First and simplest, Mass Effect is at its heart an RPG, and the current multiplayer meshes pretty well with that. A PvP mode doesn't fit - With the Reapers invading, why would the races' best and brightest be out there trying to kill each other? It breaks the atmosphere of the game to have such a thing around and atmosphere is important in games like these.
Second, mechanics. The classes would need to be redone and rebalanced in order to make the mode fair, let alone fun. You would need to implement some kind of respawning system or some way to make the match not end the minute four people die, or matches would last all of two minutes. A lot of classes would be outright ineffective due to one-shot kills or mass CC like Stasis (which would work on everyone since nobody has Armor). As a side effect, you'd also get a lot more hacking and cheating going on, as you do in any PvP-oriented FPS game. It comes with the genre.
Third, you can say 'Don't like it, don't play it' all you want. The fact remains that developing a PvP mode takes development resources that could be spent on doing things that the majority of the playerbase actually wants - Would you rather have PvP mode or better endings? PvP or the free Resurgence DLC? You can't have everything, as BioWare only has so many people to work on the project. Adding a widely unpopular, unwanted option at the expense of things the community wants a lot more is a great way to lose a lot of potential customers.
This
1. - Lore is evolving
- People could play as reapers
- It could be an intergalactic "sport"
- lol, story as your first point
2. Yes, There would have to be tweaking to some classes. CC is easily taken care of with "trinkets" and Drs, Also - there's a way it dosen't affect your precious pve at all. Most decent programmers nowadays are able to completly negate the presence of hackers.
3. This game has a pretty small life lenght given it's single-player campaign focus. The multiplayer feels cheap and incompleted without a pvp component to it.
tl;dr: This isn't Left4Dead, this certainly isn't anything like Call of Duty, and the whole point was for the player to DEFEAT the reapers, not become them.

Play Gears of War 3.
Game mechanics are similar and those game modes are already in that game.

3. This game has a pretty small life lenght given it's single-player campaign focus. The multiplayer feels cheap and incompleted without a pvp component to it.
1) Like it or not, think it's a fair point or not, story is what built this entire franchise. A lot of the players who are here now are here because of past installments, which didn't even have a multiplayer mode. You can't simply ignore those people or their concerns. Playing as Reapers is the only really viable option I see there, but that would add a whole new wrinkle to #3.
2) Trinkets and DRs all need to be coded, which adds new problems to the shop (You have to get the trinkets somehow, and a PvE player won't appreciate getting PvP stuff and vice versa) . I also doubt Diminishing Returns will work, since all you need is that first Stasis and then an infiltrator with a Widow X just removed your head. And go ahead and show me a modern mainstream multiplayer FPS game that hasn't had multiple mass-hacking problems - I bet you can't. Both these elements also feed into #3, which is the big point you seem to be missing.
3) That may be your opinion, but the fact is the core game often isn't as big of a moneymaker as the DLCs are. The life of games, especially games like Mass Effect 3, can be extended for well over a year by DLCs and additional content, which is often longer than the life of most multiplayer games who lose players to the Next Big Thing. Why should BioWare waste time and resources competing in an already-oversaturated market? Additionally, all the additional time, resources, and personnel required to implement all the things you've suggested would be murderous to future DLC projects or future BioWare titles. Play as the Reapers? Okay, you're going to need a whole new class grouping for Reapers. Trinkets all need to be coded and implemented into the game. So does 'diminishing returns' for crowd control. Then it all needs to be tested by internal testing staff who could be testing something else. All for something that what appears to be a small fraction of the playerbase even wants. Too much work for not enough reward.

Why did everybody else click on this thread? Simply because it bothers us so much. It's a terrible idea that would take too long to actually become viable, not to mention that there are much more pressing matters to deal with than to add a game mode that nobody wants.

It doesn't belong because it's a stupid idea. I already own games for PvP. And I have the common sense to know, this game would not support PvP in a reasonable way. It isn't designed for it, it isn't created for it, and the entire concept doesn't work for the entirety of the combat system, mechanics, and design.
Of course, you don't understand that much. Your support of PvP can only come from the most painful of mental deficiencies.

so you and your cronies can come into the forums and cry non stop about balance....no thanks. PvP should be designed before a game is created not after. There are plenty of pvp shooters out there, why mess with this one.

I've been playing pvp since daoc, and the one thing that has always been a constant in every pvp game is the crying.
Fact is, the changes would have to be monumental, and that takes a lot of time and resources. If bw wanted to develop a separate ME game for pvp that was planed for pvp from the beginning, then It may work, you would still cry a river though.
what folks who like the game as it is do not want is resources going into a lost cause, and pvp would be a lost cause. Look at how much support this, and every other thread about pvp has recieved, and explain to me how they will make any money from it. EA has a pvp game, it's not doing so well, and it was concieved as one.
