Hey guys. I have just started the game and have been looking into the game and figured i wanted to start a rogue. That leaves me with trying to decide which character to use as my tank which seems to be amazingly helpful to have in this game. So according to all of you who is that character?

I'm kind interested in using Shale as a tank...

I loved Shale as a tank, no need to worry about equipment or specs, just set it and forget it. Also, he's darn good at it. I usually give him the highest available tier of Nature crystals for the extra health regen and he's good to go.

The best tank is a warrior player charakter. He can get the most attribute points and skills.

Alistair is a good tank. Just get shield wall and a good armor on him.

shale make the game a walk in the park he hit so high and can tank i rather use Alistair

Thanks for the comments, I think i will probably go with Shale. I was worried about what i have been seeing about his equipment not working correctly but oh well.

Alistair's fine around about level 10 or so if you build him well, and excellent by 15 or so. Shale is better earlier.

I'd say it depends on the build. Alistair's starting skills are more toward 1h+shield, Sten more to 2h, later you can get another 2h warrior.

By definition (tank being actually MMO slang) the essential qualities of a tank are to be able to take a lot of damage and hold aggro (meaning to prevent foes from turning away to attack other group members). The tank's DPS is secondary unless it causes high aggro. I'd vote for Alistair heavily armed with shield, threaten and taunt comparing him to Sten and the other warrior.

Shale is quite unique and has skills, which are much different from regular warriors. Still, Shale can do a great job in tank role, especially since you can adapt the golem to the expected encounter. Possibly the best tank, depending on your play style and how you skill Shale.

your own character is the tank, that is if you know how to do it properly
