what does everyone have against Allers?

she took up a whole area on my ship, and the whole interaction she had was ambient chatter with the lesbian crew member, and 3? interviews with shep. could easily have kept her on the citadel for that. this isnt the kind of war where you need PR, this is a fight for survival and the whole galaxy knows it.
after coming here and finding out she was based on someone ive never heard of,, who is famous for licking stuff? i guess. and working for IGN i dont want to hear a PEEP from bioware about "Artistic integrity" ever again

The voice actress. Sounds like someone just reading lines off a page, or giving a newscast. Sure, that is great when you overhear the character giving newscasts but horrible when you are interacting with the character. I just can't kick her off the ship because she adds war assets, but I really want to.
Don't talk that way about Shepard! He's just calm and commanding! Oh....you weren't talking about........never mind.

I will say though, the fact that Emily Wong was killed "offscreen" on twitter was ridiculous, and does feel like it was done to have her out of the way in favour of Allers. Plus the whole Allers being romanceable grates on my nerves a bit. Zero subtlety involved. She practically threw herself at my Shep <_<

Didn't like the character model. the dress the face, ALLERS (not chobot) just looks wrong.
Voice acting was sub par. Tough standard to live up to but you really notice it.
She's a product placement for IGN didn't mind when I first heard about it but later after the ending debacle started to gain momentum she got splashed with some of the rage and contempt I felt for Colin Moriarity.
Never saw Al-Jilani again. and later learned they killed off Wong on twitter.
That was the final coffin nail. In a way, Allers represents and encapsulates Bioware's disconnect from their fans.
as a result she's an easy target for the emotive side of the retake movement.

She represents most of the resources' mismanagement through the developing.

She kind of breaks the fourth wall. So she creates a lack of immersion. Some people think that its a ploy to get ign to back up ea.
She kind of is a ploy, it should be obvious to why IGN was so fervent in defending the endings. Also she has terrible voice acting and is pointless to the plot, I know she can boost war assets depending on how you do in her interviews but if she got sucked into an airlock nobody would notice.

Mention that to Javik when you get a chance.

I helped Emily Wong in ME1. Then in 2 I heard her on the PA system on the citidal. I was sure she was going to be in 3. Instead I get Diana and no mention of Emily.I don't hate Diana out the actress. She just adds nothing to the story. When I bring her along I forget she's on the Normandy.
OTOH, the Twitter campaign with Emily reporting for the Alliance News Network was awesome. If you're a fan of hers, check it out.

I thought that Twitter campaign was the best marketing they did for the game (not saying much, I know). But I agree that they must have decided to kill off Wong because they had Allers.

Reasons I consider dumb:
- they don't like Jessica Chobot, for whatever personal reasons they may have
- she's part of the gaming press, and therefore apparently collaborating with the evil games industry against the consumer
- IGN gave the game a good score as some sort of alleged tradeoff scheme
- the character design wasn't "attractive"
Reasons I relate to:
- the role of "embedded reporter" could have been filled by an already-established character, which could have added emotional continuity and complexity to the situation, especially if it was an in-game reporter with whom you already had an adversarial relationship
- she has become symbolic of "misspent resources" -- Bioware gave us a poorly photoshopped Tali, a lot of quest/subplot setups seem to have just been dropped partway through, etc., yet they put a lot of work into including Allers (a character nobody was clamoring for)
- many LI continuations were diminished or dropped, yet there's a romance arc for Allers
- the voiceover work just wasn't up to par with the rest of the cast
- combined with the toned-down sex scenes, it feels a bit like pandering to the young male demographic who want to see a real-life "hot nerdgirl" in a game, without pushing it so far that retailers will be pressured by parents' group not to sell the game or to have it rated for adults only
- (edit for late addition) her character was brand new and got a place on the Normandy, while Emily Wong was killed off via Twitter as a seeming afterthought
I think that about covers it, but if I missed anything maybe someone else will pop in to correct me.
And, to tell the truth, I thought it was an underused idea. She could have more interviews, a brief cutscene showing her covering live in battle, more people visiting her in The Normandy....

-When I saw her she reminded me of Snookie from Jersey Shore. (now that I said that I will have to wash my eyes out with bleach)
-I was pissed to find out they killed Emily Wong on Twitter. That’s another middle finger salute from BioWare.
-Voice acting wasn’t so bad since she’s playing a reporter it was the script and crap lines she said that bugged me. It was just annoying to know that we could have had better with established in characters like Wong and Khalisah al-Jilani.
-Her working for IGN is kind of a conflict of interests isn’t it?

Yea exactly. Why Dianna Allers instead of Emily Wong or better yet Khalisah al-Jilani? Khalisah al-Jilani at least has been after Shepard since the first game trying to get a solid story on things even if her story is a bit distorted. At least she would have been fun to have around knowing that she just might try and put a distorted spin on a story.

Instead, we get Allers, who has next to no meaningful interaction with Shepard, practically throws herself at them to get them in the sack and seems to be more concerned with her ratings than anything, despite the fact we are currently facing The End of All Life as We Know It!
Actually, that describes how they went about making this game. They based it on trying to appeal to ratings instead of actually doing something that their fans would appreciate.
By the way, the last thing is what having "Integrity" means.

I love Emily Wong and I love to hate Khalisah. Either of them would have been a better subsitute for Allers and could have provided a great sounding board that gave Shepard a chance to how their actions, Paragon or Renegade were seen by and affected the Galactic Community beyond the hull of the Normandy.
