Diana Allers needs a Renegade Interrupt.

does that involve putting her in the air lock.

Or fed to a thresher maw.

Or thrown to a pack of varen.

the thresher maw would make for a better news story... I think she would appreciate that... right?

1)Her voice acting was terrible

2)She seemed like a fairly significant element that ultimatly didn't seem to have a purpose. I was expecting there to be some sort of conflict where the option to kick her off the ship made sense. Didn't happen. It kinda feels like her role was reduce when they realized how bad her voice acting was.

Just felt like a waste of space.

It may have something to do with the fact that she was a completely unnecessary character that sound like she was actually reading lines off a piece of paper, not making lines off a piece of paper sound like an actual conversation.

I still wish they wouldn't have made Emily Wong go all martyr on us and had her on the Normandy.

Just seems like a payoff to IGN for a good review no matter what. Still have no idea why the character is even in the game. I use to like to watch her videos on youtube now not so much. Kind of hard for me to believe there reviews now for me.

I don't hate Jessica Chobot or Diana Allers, but the whole thing is a little perplexing.
Firstly, she's a video game reporter, its like Bioware are trying to ruin the immersion and pull us out of the game we're playing.

The role could have gone to the reporter you've punched from previous ME's. Imagine it - if you punch her in ME3, hilarious as usual. But if you choose a paragon option, you could invite her aboard the Normandy, and have her on your side finally as she gets to see what its like being Commander Shepard. Finally she'd see why you do the things you have to, it would be vindication for taking all those tough questions she put you through.

And lastly, as people have said, why resources were spent here and not elsewhere (Tali's face etc). Okay so maybe by taking out the time it took to model Chobot and write her in wouldn't suddenly mean Bioware would instead put Tali's face in, but it would have been time spent elsewhere, richening the established ME universe, rather then bizarrely putting an IGN reporter in the game.

I didn’t have a clue of who Chobot was at the start of the game, but I couldn’t stand the character. Awful voice acting – just an incredibly uninteresting character with weird delivery of pretty much every line.

Don’t have anything against the Chobot as I haven’t paid any attention to her, but the character in the game is horrid. Really just out of place. Her voice always sounds like she's quoting lines from a cheap commercial. All the time wasted on conversation with her could have been used for something more interesting.

Like Shepard clipping her toe nails or watching dust bunnies float across the floor.

On another note – after I found out who the “actress” was, I was a bit disgusted. A game reviewer really shouldn’t be in the game her site is supposed to review objectively.

It doesn’t seem right.

I would've been happier taking Emily Wong on board. Allers looks ugly and her voice irritates me.

Echoing the Emily Wong bit here as well. After all, we get to interview with the gal in ME1, we see and hear her reports in ME2 on the Citadel. She was an already established character in the ME universe, so the fact that they killed her off-screen and ignored her in favor of Ms. Allers was fairly annoying from the get-go.

Also, no offense, I had zero idea who the actress was that was providing the face and voice, and even after playing the game, still really don't care. She's probably a very nice person and all, but her acting was stilted and forced imo. Not sure how or why she got abruptly stuck into the game, aside from the fact that she's known for racy geeky photos. So... yeah.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. I didn't even know who she was until AFTER I played the game. Maybe it was because I was never a big fan of IGN to begin with.

It's funny, I interact more with my robo pooch down in the shuttle bay and boo the hamster in engeneering then I do with Allers.

Have you seen her face? It's so deformed I would rather kiss a husk.

I just think she wasnt necessary. There is no development to her character and honestly I don't think her va did a good job at all, far too dull.

And yes I think it's somewhat rediculous that a minor reporter character had her face worked on more than the most anticipated face reveal in the entire series.

I also hate her because she doesn't seem to serve a function.

I went up to talk to her excitedly the first time expecting a reporter interview like we had in ME1. Instead, I didn't even get a reporter interview like we got in ME2.

After the second or third time I went to her after a mission for no reason I said screw it. (I think I did get the interview with war assets though.)

I talk to her somewhat frequently. Even got an email from her about the final mission. Talked to her about her Colony getting obliterated from Orbit from the Reapers.

Regardless, only thing I dislike from her is her walk when she enters the cabin.

I found her annoying, but tolerated her, as I don’t have to like everyone. Same goes with how she looks, was not about to kick her off the ship because I didn’t fine her attractive.Image IPB

As for the voice actress, good for her getting the role, no need to hate.

 greetings fellow nerds,

just trying to wrap my head around why everyone seems to hate Allers, can someone explain it to me

Emily Wong would have made more sense to have as in-ship reporter. Allers came off as last minute addition and no thought was given to how make that part realivant to the story. She has no backstory, no connection to the fans, and lacks anything you can say was a real addtion to the overall game experience.

Yes, she does "effect" war assets with her stories which makes it worst.

Small point, perhaps, but does Chobot actually review games for that network?

She's new to acting. I had the urge to boot her off my ship even on my paragon Shepards.

- Wooden voice acting
- Would have preferred Wong or even Al-Jilani
- Little impact to the storyline
- Easily ignorable (if it wasn't her chats with Trayner she is literally an afterthought in the Normandy).

Yeah that's why.

Reasons I consider dumb:
- they don't like Jessica Chobot, for whatever personal reasons they may have
- she's part of the gaming press, and therefore apparently collaborating with the evil games industry against the consumer
- IGN gave the game a good score as some sort of alleged tradeoff scheme
- the character design wasn't "attractive"

Reasons I relate to:
- the role of "embedded reporter" could have been filled by an already-established character, which could have added emotional continuity and complexity to the situation, especially if it was an in-game reporter with whom you already had an adversarial relationship
- she has become symbolic of "misspent resources" -- Bioware gave us a poorly photoshopped Tali, a lot of quest/subplot setups seem to have just been dropped partway through, etc., yet they put a lot of work into including Allers (a character nobody was clamoring for)
- many LI continuations were diminished or dropped, yet there's a romance arc for Allers
- the voiceover work just wasn't up to par with the rest of the cast
- combined with the toned-down sex scenes, it feels a bit like pandering to the young male demographic who want to see a real-life "hot nerdgirl" in a game, without pushing it so far that retailers will be pressured by parents' group not to sell the game or to have it rated for adults only
- (edit for late addition) her character was brand new and got a place on the Normandy, while Emily Wong was killed off via Twitter as a seeming afterthought
- (edit, from Paulomedi) the idea of having an embedded reporter was good in theory, but underutilized in practice
- (edit, from Greyfox84) using a real media figure to play an in-game media figure, especially one so closely modeled on the real-life person, does damage to the game's immersion factor / fourth-wall integrity

I think that about covers it, but if I missed anything maybe someone else will pop in to correct me.
