Hey all,
I finally got around to installing DA:O on my new PC, and I'm ready to get some mods for it. I'm already planning on getting the Skip the Fade mod. Anyone have suggestions for "must-have" mods?

I quite enjoy the shapeshifting mods. Playing as an Archdemon (or any mob from the game) is quite amusing.

A "must-have" mode, that I have, is called "Morrigan restoration patch" or something like that. It restores some good dialogues and scenes with Morrigan and it also fixes some bugs. Its really good and I truly recommend it.

I always use the Morrigan Restoration mod as well. I like the hide helmet mod as well, would rather see everyone's faces instead of those ugly helmets or silly looking mage hats.

I like Improved Atmosphere, it adds a lot of extra npcs to most areas. The Extra Dog Slot mod is nice as it allows you to have the four character party plus your furry friend in most areas too. The Character Respec mod is very handy to reset the attributes/skills etc of your companions when you first attain them. Qwinns Fixpack resolves many, many default state game issues. Lock bash lets you crack chests without a rogue. There are a lot of top 10 type sites where folks list faves and both here and at Nexus you can sort the lists in order of popularity.
Note: Mod usage can be addictive and have unpredictable lifestyle impairments, in my case sleep deprivation, repetitive hairstyle change syndrome and debilitating frustration in the never ending search for attractive female dwarf armor!

assuming you've probably played through DAO before, so perhaps game overhauls like dragon age redesigned would be good. IF you want you can get some texture mods as well; JB3textures.
Side note: anyone know if there's a mod that allows you to take all loot with a hotkey like in DA2?

Another shout out for Morrigan Restoration patch, and another called the Zevran Dialogue Fix (or ZDF). Together these two sort out a tonne of misfiring lines and plot flags, as well as restoring some cool dialogue.
Quinn's Fixpack also resolves bugs with the combat. With these three patches I think the game pretty much operates as intended, and I think are pretty much essential. Anything else is seasoning to taste.
Though Quinn's also includes one or two other things which I'm not a fan of, such as a 'hide helmet' patch. This is can get annoying, plus it makes the Dwarf Commoner origin impossible as you have to disguise yourself in Everd's armour. However, it is easily removed.

I've also just installed DA:O again, ready for another playthrough. Do these mods work if I own the game through Steam? And where do I go to get them? Cheers.

Yes, they will work just fine with Steam. I know this since I have the Steam version of DAO
You can get most mods at Dragon Age Nexus.

I've uploaded a mod to DA Nexus that should remove friendly fire from any difficulty. Maybe people would like it.
