I did a search on the forum, got zero results.

Anybody know what I can do?  I have restarted the game twice, and no change.  Each time, it says "loading" in the bottom right of the main menu, and "checking downloadable content" in the middle of the screen, but it doesn't stop... it just does this indefinitely.  I let it sit for 15 minutes on this screen 30 min ago.

ugh.

So, the game works now. Fourth time is the charm, I guess. So bloody annoying. Spend a full 35-45 min trying to even play the game.

This has happened to me, restarting the ps3 fixed it.

This happens to me ever since I installed the pre-order code for the Argus/N7 armor/Valkyrie.

What I do is hit 'resume' while the message is still up (it is the only option that works) then quit to the main menu once the saved game has loaded. Works every time for me.

EDIT: Just wondering OP, did this happen after you installed the latest patch (mine was 1.02 in AUS but 1.03 for US)?

I got the same as you and I couldn't even move the selector on the left hand side.  I restarted the game twice and it started working. Usually it would let me move the selector as stated above and I would just 'resume' and quite to main menu as a work-around...

I got the same issue too.

Before downloading the latest patch, the system was displaying 'Checking downloadable content' but I was able to move the cursor, to select resume or load, ...

After downloading and applying latest patch I still have the message but I'm not able to select any option ...
It's woking from time to time again after restarting the PS3.

I'm kind of p..... off, after all that happened (ending, etc) with this game that was supposed to be a crown achievement and after paying 60$ + 10$ (DLC) and now have this issue it really s...

Hope that there will be a fix soon, (start thinking to sell back this game) meanwhile I'm going to play AC.

Is there anything else we can do - that would get us noticed and at least have the issues addressed?

I've posted on their facebook page about various bugs (they say they would pass it on).
Sent an PM to a member of the staff (he said he would pass it on).
Contacted EA (they said they would pass it on).
Posted on this forum (had some acknowledgement that our posts are being read).

I'm all out of options now :(

It's doing it to me again! Ugh. Before the latest patch, I could still press "resume" even though the "checking downloadable content" message was still up. NOW, I can't even do that.

It has only NOT done this one time in the last 3 days. Gah! Talk about f'ed up.

I'm having exactly the same issue, patches are supposed to fix the game, not make things worse Image IPB

Edit: I had a thought, maybe it's checking for the Resurgence pack? Being in Europe, I don't have it yet. I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

Well, I just dl'ed the Resurgence pack, and have now had to quit the game TWICE, because of this.

My buddy from work was asking me about the game today; he hasn't had money to get it for a while, and today he finally said he could afford it. Well, I told him about this glitch... and then he came over to my apt and witnessed it for himself. Now, he's not getting the game. For the moment, at least.

*le sigh*

I have told my friends who have PS3 not to get this game until the bugs get fixed. One read of this forum and they believe me!

I managed to get it to work long enough to do 2 multiplayer matches last night. Next time I load the game up, I'm locked out again >.<

Mine's doing it to me again!!! I have restarted it 5 times now and no luck. Still stuck on "checking downloadable content". The ONLY thing I can do while it is doing this is connect to EA servers, which it does without any problem.

WHY have Bioware disabled the menu select while the DLC is being checked?!?! This only happened since the patch.

I cannot play the game at all now!!!

UPDATE: Seventh time lucky it seems. I can confirm that it has taken me 15 minutes of quitting and restarting ME3 before I get past the 'checking downloadable content'. I can also confirm that it doesn't require communicating with the EA servers to complete the process. It completed it before I had the chance to hit triangle to connect to EA.

What a JOKE Bioware! When this problem hits we are LOCKED OUT of our game.

GAH!!! Again. It's doing it again. I've restarted the game 3 times now. I swear this is the last Bioware game I'm going to buy. What a frickin joke.

This is happening to me too. It takes at least 15 minutes of me sitting here quitting and restarting the game just to play. I don't understand the need to disable menu selection while it's checking for DLC. I, too, just hit Resume and then quit to Main Menu to work around this problem. Now I can't do that and am forced to play a game of chance and hope it will work.

What is it even doing when it's checking for DLC? I don't see the hard drive light flashing while the "Loading" animation continuously plays. Hell I even tried buying the From Ashes DLC in hopes of fixing the problem. Well, that's $10 that didn't help.

Just re-enable the menu selection please.

This! I don't know why they disabled it in the first place. Either it was an unintended consequence of trying to fix something else, or someone thought it was a security loophole!?

I just tried something 2 days.

having the issue, I restarted the PS3 then manage to access menu, went in the option and set to ON the auto-log to EA network (In general I disabled auto-log for any games). Now it seems working fine. I still have the drm @#$#$@$# download check but it disappear and I'm able to play.

So now the question is: Is it a bug or wanted for some obscure reasons?

I managed to get on my single player game by disabling my ps3's internet connection, so that's a fix if you only want to play the main game but doesn't help for multiplayer.

^I switched my settings to auto log on like you side while I was on though, so we'll see if that works for me tomorrow.

I do get this prompt everytime I loaded/started the game but never that long, usually takes less than 10 seconds prompt in checking downloadable content.

Yes I have installed the pre-order bonus, and the latest patch 1.03.

But what bugs me though is that, I still do encounter hang-ups in multiplayer gameplay :crying:

Bioware, please do take a look at this problem for PS3 users, an update will do on the latest development done on a fix.  Silence on the matter do give an impression that PS3 customers are the least priority.   It does not mean that you got to respond to every query, just a general thread on a status.

had this problem last night, disconnect your x-box from the internet, then start playing, then once your playing plug back in your internet cable and it goes back to normal. It was strange it kept freezing at the menu. Happend 8 times in a row.

It seems to have gotten a little better for me the last couple of times I started.

An idea: when you get the start up screen with the flaming debris falling to Earth, just leave it for a while, say a minute, and then hit start to go the main menu.

I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with the internet connection (at least for me) because last time it actually worked I wasn't connected to EA servers (I have auto login disabled).

Yeah, this is quite an annoying problem that turned downright inconvenient. The workaround is even more cumbersome, but at least I can get to access my menu/multiplayer without restarting the PS3.

Basically, just sign out of PSN before you load up the game. If you have it set to auto-login, just go to your XMB > Account Management > Press Triangle and toggle off "Auto Sign-In." You can also manually sign off from here as well. Not sure if you have to disable connection to EA servers as well, but might as well disable the auto-login in the options just in case.

Either way, I can manually connect to EA servers if I want to (for the war assets MP bonuses in single-player) and if I wanted to play multiplayer, the game will prompt me to log onto PSN before connecting to the EA servers.

Definitely turns a 15-minute ordeal into something like a 2-3 minute one. Hope this helps.

Been doing some testing and the game has started for me 5 out of 5 times I waited about 30 seconds - 1 minute at the start screen (not the main menu) before pressing start.

When I didn't wait I would usually get the checking dlc message until I restarted at least a few times.

I've stopped getting this problem ever since I started waiting 30 seconds at the start screen (debris falling to Earth). Wait until the EA and Bioware logos fade, then wait until a big flaming chunk falls in the foreground. When it disappears off the bottom of the screen, press start.

This hasn't failed me in about 10 starts of ME3.
