Maybe they could have used dialogue choices?Palathas wrote...
This is very similar to the conversation with Kaiden that is actually in the game but because Kaiden doesn't hold the same religious beliefs as Ashley it was slightly different. Maybe they left it out because it touches too close to deeper religious beliefs and didn't want to run the risk of offending those that hold similar beliefs in saying that they, Bioware, know what happens.
1) "There was a light"
2) "I don't remember"
3) "I don't want to talk about it"
Anyway, I thought it was great. Shouldn't have been cut. :[

I'm also iffed that a lot of Ashley interaction seems dependant on how much you visited her in the hospital (f.e. the scene with her sister can happen if you don't romance her -- but only if you visited the hell out of her).

That scene is awesome and touching. Why did so many great things get cut?
This is why the game feels so bland overall.

That should've been kept in. Ash has a paucity of scenes on the Normandy, this would of gone a long way to making Ash looks like she cared about Shepard. Also, the scene gives Shep another opportunity to be concerned about what happen when she died and what she is now.

Who knows why it didn't make it in. So many reasons:
1. Maybe they thought it would offend.
2. Maybe they thought the game had enough moments where people bust into Shepard's cabin, or enough dialog and cinematics. (I hope it isn't this, character development is one of the high points of Bioware's games)
3. Might have been a last moment addition that didn't make it, this is kind of common in some games, depends on who is developing it.
4. Might have had something to do with a cut subplot or theme, I don't know what exactly that would be in this case but it is common in games. Like in Grand Theft Auto San Andreas they cut out loads of stuff just because of one small plot point they had to cut out.

same with the Capt. Anderson scene, there's another minute of emotional dialogue that was cut :\\

That said, this was probably cut for 'line budget' reasons, and was probably cut out inf avor of the brief mention on the Cerberus HQ.

See its scenes like this what will push games into the Art realm... not contrived nonsensical endings..
scenes that show the characters- are characters and have depth - Shows that Shepard is not just a player avatar...
The ball was dropped seriously here... this is a great scene
and it should have happen if you romance Ashley or not.

The endings are more offensive than this...

This would be the exact, textbook kind of thing that would really be great if it could be worked into the Extended Cut.

Wow, that is a pretty awesome scene. And I'm speaking as someone that romanced Ashley in both ME1 and 3.

LISTEN TO THIS MAN!!!! ADD THIS BACK IN BIOWARE
sorry for all caps lol.. but as someone who has also romanced ashley in me1 and 3 (considered canon shep) I was kinda let down by the ashley romance. I really enjoyed the beginning of the romance on mars and how it showed why ashley wasn't willing to join me in me2 and how she doubted what I was now but I just felt like after she got out of the hospital that romance just felt flat.
I remember when I finally got her as a squad member I was so excited to go down and talk to her and relive the days of ME1 where id go down to the cargo bay and speak with her and all I got was... "Good to see you"
Really? I stayed faithful to you in ME2 why now? I dunno, I enjoyed the final scene where we talked but I missed the poetry quoting. I missed arguing about why aliens were valuable too. (I know a lot of people think she's racist but think of it this way, how I see it. She is from a family that was disgraced during the first contact war and also this is only a little over 30 years since first contact. Its hard to adjust that quickly for everyone, especially if someone had very little alien contact growing up i.e. being raised on Earth or on a human colony with no aliens.)
