Warning Spoilers for both Mass Effect 3 and Dragon age 2(also you will have no idea what i'm talking about unless you beat Mass Effect 3 and are familiar with dragon age).

The sad thing about the ending of Mass effect 3 is that it was confusing and unsatisfying. However it is even sadder when you realize that the ending would have actually worked if they had used it for DA2(the last bioware game that felt like the ending didn't really matter).

Imagine the beginning of the ending for DA2, while Meredith and Orsino are fighting Anders blows up the chantry. Let's also pretend that rather than sitting around waiting to be executed Anders/Justice rips open a hole in the fade to summon an army of demons/spirits to stop the Templars/Mages from killing on sight. iHe heads up to the keep and tells Hawke he will be waiting for him/her. In the face of being destroyed by this horde the templars and mages join forces and fight their way to the keep alongside Hawke. Once their Anders explains his actions. He reveals that the entire city of Kirkwall is the gateway that the Tevinter Magisters of old used to enter and blacken the golden city by blowing up the chantry with Tevinter magic. He was able to gain an immense amount of power that he can now use to use the gateway to affect not only the fade in kirkwall but every person in kirkwall's connection to the fade. He explains that Hawke is the only person who can make this choice as he/she has seen both the good and bad sides of mages. Hawke now has the power to...

Choice 1-The City of Freedom-Hawke chooses to make Kirkwall a beacon for the mages of Thedas. This will make everyone in Kirkwall a mage, and any child born in Kirkwall will automatically be a mage, and while there will be chaos at first the circle can help create order and educate people on their new abilities. If Hawke chooses this ending. He/She must fight Meredith and her Templars who will try to stop Hawke seeing this act as an affront to the chantry and the maker.

Choice 2-The City of Order-Hawke chooses to make Kirkwall a beacon of peace. Where no child is born a mage and any mage that steps foot inside Kirkwall automatically becomes tranquil,as long as they remain in the city. Furthermore the Templars who enter Kirkwall will no longer need to fill their addiction to lyrium, so long as they stay in the city. If Hawke chooses this ending he/she must fight Orsino and the mages who would rather die than be made tranquil.

Choice 3- The City of Hawke -Hawke declares himself/herself viscount and chooses to kill Anders and take control of the city himself. In this way he is able to control and manipulate everyone in the city using their connection to the fade. In order to stop him from doing this both Meredith and Orsino try to kill Hawke. When they are dead Hawke becomes the one of the most powerful people in all of Thedas.

See rather than having the ending boil down to just templars like Hawke or mages like Hawke. You have to make a choice that will forever change Kirkwall as well as all of Thedas. This also provides a satisfying conclusion to the Hawke story as well as the mage/templar arc.

ME3 ending is just a nest of plot holes.
And other abracadabra trick.
If you tried to apply it to DA , iMHO, it doesn't work better.
It's still bad writing.
I mean let's see:
What is Anders motivation for tearing the veil?Anders and Justice both hate demons and blood magic.
The Tevinter Magister use bloodmagic to get to the black city.
His actions would make no sense (yeah kinda like the stupid ghost child)
Besides Anders want templars and mages to fight , he blow up the chantry because he was tired of the status quo.So in order for his actions to make any sense , you would have to rewrite part of the story.

As for the solution...same as mass effect .Instead of space magic , well it would be plain stupid magic.

Taking a character and made him playing god using really cheap tricks is just never good...
