It would be great if I drove down the interstate and saw "I hate the ending!" and "I love the ending!" billboards along the road

How exactly are you going to meassure the success of this billboard?

Have you stopped to consider that maybe doing a new ending just isn't realistic? Maybe its just too difficult to patch out a massive chunk of code that's hard written to the disc. And even if they did make a whole new ending the way you wanted it, it wouldn't necessarily be what others wanted. So the whole thing would just get worse. That's why I think the vague endings are brilliant. We can just headcanon our own epilogue.

That's not how videogames work, after the install the game actually runs off of your PC. It only uses the disk to retrieve relevant information. A DLC or Patch wouldn't be impossible at all, if it's infeesible it would be because Bioware doesn't want to do the work involved, not because it'd be too hard to to make the change. It wouldn't likely take any more work than the extended cut will, however, and is therefore a moot point.

I didn't play the game for a headcanon ending, I played the game for a resolution to a story. I don't read a book and stop a few pages first to make up my own answer. If I wanted to do that i'd play a pen&paper RPG. An Alternate Ending would leave you with your ending, but still give us ours.

I don't think this is a good idea. I was fully supportive of the Retake movement, and when they finally produced results I was thrilled! However, something like this isn't going to generate any positivity at all.

The media will eat it up and spew it back out in the form of "gamer entitlement" and "see, they were douches all along!" Bioware employees will see it and will likely feel demoralized, angry or harassed on a daily basis. The general public won't know WTF is going on.

Honestly, guys, you should go out on a high note. $80000 donated to charity and an ending compromise are astounding achievements; don't cheapen them with something this silly.

It's on Holdtheline.com I think. From what I understand the facebook doesn't recognize holdtheline.com and retakemasseffect.com and there has been tension. But splintered or not, the media sees it all as one movement =/

But It didn´t do anything yes give those 2 free DLC for people who call those charity people trolls .
But it didn´t change the outcome that it is still the extended cut !
With no alternate ending , how much people don´t understand ... it is still the same ending where you don´t have a choice ...
Cause they added some more cinematics to it , explaining stuff , is still the bad written ending that doesn´t fit ME3 .
The game is fabulous , the ending the majority think is rubbishe , if they really had listened .
They would say they would try to do a alternate ending , as a paragon or renegade option
They do not have to change the ending they like , they should ad more endings ...
Same way the whole game was about choices .

You didn´t had enough paragon or renegade points Tali trial in ME2 was fixed .
If you did , you could change the outcome !
How come we cannot change this outcome at the end ! no matter what we try ....

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the billboard idea. You can't force someone to change their minds. I'm all for continuing to advocate that they produce a DLC that changes the ending rather than expands on it. I'll continue to speak out until I look like an Asari. But I was actually against the cupcakes, and I'm against this. Stop spending money on these ridiculous gestures. We've already shown that we're serious. We raised 80,000 for a good cause, we raised over 1,000 for a lighthearted jab. But this really will be seen as over the top.

What we need to do now is to organize. The DLC was an effective strategy because there isn't a single unified voice. So EA/BioWare can point to that and say "See, we're giving them what they want. They asked for clarity, they asked for closure, so we're giving it to them for free." And they're right. Some people did ask for clarity and closure. Many more of us though asked for an ending that doesn't violate everything about the previous games. It's time to find a single message and stick to that. Not waste money on a billboard when the only thing we've agreed on so far is that the ending sucks.

newsflash :

several retake guards guarding a billboard were found frozen together at the foot of a billboard today in canada.

police were mystified as to why they were all naked and huddled together on a mound of cupcakes.

investigations continue,as soon as the pile of cupcakes are defrosted and analysed for signs of tampering.

That is maybe a good point , maybe retake should focus on that , if we cannot agree to something we all want changed .. then I am still for donating money to a billboard atleast this time they have a slogan .

I want a real paragon ending , and a real renegade ending ... nothing that is so grey as now is .
Real renegade badass , I am the boss of the universe .
Real Paragon ending like ME1 one when we all tought shepard was dead .. he stood up from the rubble .
like the hero he was .

I don't get it with you people.
What is it that affects you so much that you have to argue, criticize
and constantly fight with the Retakers? If you want your endings so
badly go ahead and keep them, let us have ours we're not stopping you
from keeping your endings. I'm sure everyone would be fine with getting
alternate endings instead of a complete rewrite.

You people
argue and criticize us for nothing, I just don't get it. What is it that
you are defending? "Artistic integrity"? BioWare's pride? EA? The
future of gaming?

If you have nothing to say but instead just
want to criticize, argue and insult without a reason then don't waste
your time, go enjoy Mass Effect 3 and its endings, I'm sure you'll do
yourself and everyone else a favor.

I'm not arguing, infact, the quote you took this from was to someone I was agreeing with. You realized that right? it doesn't help your point at all lol. If I want my endings? they were never mine, they were Bioware's. You don't have an ending and never will. I think you have been living under a rock for the last 5 weeks sir, your side is the aggressive one just like you are being confrontational with me atm lol.

I do enjoy how you tell me not to waste my time, but your side has spent much much more complaining and fighting every article, every company, and every pro ender since launch

Yes go ahead and deflect my questions. At least we have a reason to fight, like I said you people argue over nothing, so what if we get a DLC. How does it affect you? So what if we fight EA and BioWare? How does it affect you? Like I said before, you people have no reasons to argue, we do. EA and BioWare lied about what we were getting, I'm pretty sure you've seen all the evidence, all the dev quotes, whatever. You can't say we're complaining over nothing.

Koju737 wrote...
I knew when this "movement" was announced I knew it was gonna be bad. "Retake Mass effect"? If that absurd name doesn't define "entitled" I don't know what does.

Let me remind you about what you agreed with, this quote which is nothing more than an insult but what else can be expected from someone like you and don't bother saying that you do not argue because I've seen your posts and I know that everything you say is either insults or arguing with us about your so called "points". For the record if I recall correctly, it was the pro-enders who began arguing with us not the other way around. Think about it logically, why would we argue with them, there's no reason for that since it gets us nowhere, something that we apparently know better than you do.

If you're going to insult at least have a valid reason to do so, otherwise everyone will think you're just a troll, in fact I think everybody thinks that already.

Show Bioware what you rather do with your money than pay for their ****ty DLCs. The only way they learn! Keep up the movement, don't listen to the Bioware drones around here.

Why don't more people reply like this instead of going "This is crazy, I'm out"? If you see something you don't like about something you consider yourself to be a part of, why not try to change that? Convince people to see what you think is wrong about it rather than abandoning ship and watching it sink.
