You do realize what you're aiming to do is illegal, right? Its considered a Smear Campaign and they can sue you for it.

Not going to argue about whether or not I find the campaign to be ridiculous (since I had previously posted in the thread that I thought it was hilarious) but I must ask: how is this a smear campaign?

Actually everything this movement has done could fall into this term.

A smear campaign, smear tactic or simply smear is a metaphor for activity that can harm an individual or group's reputation by conflation with a stigmatized group. Sometimes smear is used more generally to include any reputation-damaging activity, including such colloquialisms as mud slinging.

Yeah, no, there's no way that would stand up in court. If it did, then every election campaign ever would be in the same bag, because they're twice as worse.

As someone who has worked in law, I would pay to see this suit go to court. It'd be laughed out of the courthouse. This is reaching and grasping for straws; and I believe you know it too.

To clarify my position, I wont be putting my money to this because i'm in the wait-and-see crowd for the Extended Cut. This seems over the top, even for me, but I would be hard pressed to say it's anything illegal.

And you mean in USA with swift boat campagain ?
The chewbaca defense ?
The US governement against Microsoft lawcase ...

Eh sadly no you cannot sue people for Smear campagains ..
Cause retake has not even decided what on the slogan .
IT can be something as Liara crying , Shepard deserved beter ..
Or Cataclyst , I am the star child .

IS that smear campaign ?
Sadly no it isn´t , so please do not confuse laws .. yes If they decide to make death threats ... then yeah it goes to far , if they pose on the billboard .

Shepard Deserve Beter then this !
It s a opnion .

silliness at it's worse, it is downright retarded...a billaboard, no Mass effect3 Logo, no bioware Logo, not even one bit of design that is related to the theme of Mass effect, and you expect drive-by to get your message?

LMAO, congrat on creating a campaign that is as unclear and broken as the ME3 ending you hate...

You sir are as uncreative as a brick.  Congratulations!

None of Retake's actions were done to harm anyone's reputation. Even the proposed message for the billboard does not do that.

There's an initiative going on right now on Facebook for people to do the "Shepard Shuffle" and submit the video along with the message that they are dancing for a better ending.

That's some hardcore mud-slinging, for sure.

Okay, this is getting out of hand. Seriously? A BILLBOARD? As if I thought the Retake group couldn't get any more desperate. It's bordering on mass hysteria. It's a video game ffs. And retake doesn't understand why people call them whiney and immature.

At this point, I would welcome Bioware telling everyone enough is enough. Because the people in retake that are even considering this don't deserve anything.

However...

You do realize what you're aiming to do is illegal, right? Its considered a Smear Campaign and they can sue you for it.

So...mass hysteria is printing stuff on billboards. That is where the decency line is drawn.

Honestly man people are cheap , it only takes 20$ dollars to convince people to wait for it .
Ops when the extended edition doesn´t cut it ? ah yes then the 20$ dollar people suddenly cannot moan anymore.
Cause the real movement has moved on ....
Oh don´t worry they will just charge you money by raising DLC prices .. and you will moan and take no actions .

Ok honestly so basically if you are satsified ,with that , then fine so anytime you throw a riot without proper backing , it is pointless cause they can always pacify with a free DLC ...
So much for people I don´t like the ending .....

I... had a somewhat difficult time deciphering your words, but I'll try and reply the best I can. The thing is, those "$20 people," in my honest opinion, probably aren't concerning themselves over this whole ending fiasco as much as those affiliated with the Retake movement are, anyway.

Many people are waiting for the Extended Cut because in reality, many people, while they may or may not have liked the ending, are fine with more closure and clarity being added to the endings rather than the endings being retconned completely. If the Extended Cut doesn't "cut it," then it shouldn't matter since it is only expanding upon what we already have and is completely free. From my perspective, the Extended Cut is more Mass Effect 3, and I'm fine with that.

The monetary value you're placing on these free DLCs isn't what I see as the appeasing factor. What I see is a company willing to listen to its fans and work on altering an ending to a game its employees worked hard on, releasing some free DLCs in the meantime. I respect BioWare for continuing to try and satisfy its fans while maintaining its own vision of how the game should end.

Seriously, I really hope you guys don't actually do this.

they can sue the organisers yes,but the members are all anon behind avatars and nicknames.

If EA and bioware were the evil demons they are being portrayed as i suspect they would have already done it.

so they must simply view it as free advertising or just a morning joke at the offices.

Wow, you are ****ing retarded.  If bigger companies can't take down a website like Piratebay by "suing", wtf makes you think EA/Bioware can do anything against the organizers of this movement.  They can sue all they want, they will just lose money.  Simply put, its not because they don't want to do anything against it, its because there is nothing they can do.

And who's retarded? Piratesbay is in Sweden, which makes it extremely difficult for people to take action on.

If EA/Bioware wanted to, they could, and they would win given the actions of the people behind this campaign. They could do a whole lot, but I'm not saying they will. However, the option is there.

Except nobody is pirating  anything and the first amendment would probably trump any claims of a smear campaign. Trying to fight any of these websites by arguing them as smear campaigns is not a strong case and somewhat naive.

Honestly Retakers you're making yourself look more and more like a joke everyday.

You could spend this time doing something constructive, not getting in such a fuss over a game.

I thought about this too, I hope it doesn't come to that. I hope the people behind this campaign see reason. I might've supported this billboard idea weeks before but I just really feel like we should all just wait and see (and this is from someone who raged with her fellow Retakers a week ago).

errrrrr

you do realise there are no "pro enders"

no such group exists.and never has.

this is simply more paranoia based on one person trying to invent a group to justify a silly reason for complaining.

again...there are no pro ender groups.

http://www.facebook....ffect3]Evidence[/url] states otherwise

I'm pretty sure there's many more but sure go ahead and claim that there are no Pro-Ender groups, I really don't care. It's not my problem if you don't want to accept what's true. Even as small as it is, they still exist.

IA.

I hope not either. I hope this doesn't result in BW/EA saying, "The hell with this!" and no longer give us anything for ME3 and just move on. Then again, I doubt that they would.

Is it really that hard to wait and see what they come up with?

It's been a month, Bioware have offered a half way house solution of which some of retake wanted from the start and others did not. Let's not kid outselves here this has no longer anything to do with the ending for many, it's a power trip. At this stage it is childish and after a month of the constant whining, it would seem more inclined to think those who are planning on throwing such money away on billboards are nothing more than people with real life emotional issues.

Hell even my friend who has owned almost every single Bioware game (most being CEs) and in fact is the one who bought me some of them to get my interested in what they create many years ago only took a day herself to get over her disappointment. She disliked the ending as much as any of you and been long time follower of Bioware more so than myself and if notice my join date you can see I'm not some newbie to the franchise either.

She is only 21 and she has more emotional maturity than half of you lot still whining and moaning. She got over it in a day while you have been moaning for a month so no I do not think this anymore has anything to do with the endings for many of you, a power trip sums it up just right. Time to grow up or seek professional help, councelling and such.

Seriously... Councelling, much cheaper and many of you need it more. Like I said time to grow up, look at the reactions of fellow retakers who are stepping away from this, the negative feedback your getting on here, the negative press and even more media and gamers calling you whiners or entitled all because of your actions like this. Taking it too far over 10 minutes of a video game that many of you played a month ago and still haven't had the emotional maturity to deal with your hurt feelings.

The phrase "this hurts you" is tip of the iceberg, drop in the ocean compared to how much it does and will towards your reputation both in the media and from the rest of the gaming public.

So in TL:DR the decision is stop acting like 5 year olds with no common sense, you have taken it far enough and now crossed the line which only result is hurt you in a huge way from everyone outside these forums to even inside these forums plus other mdeia sources. This will destroy your reputation and might aswell be painted a red cross on your back for ridicule by everyone.

So basically what you are saying is , you like the ending you just didn´t like the plot holes ..
So the ending is the same green blue red , shepard dies , shepard become synthetic , shepard take control.
IS good enough ? all three ending he dies ...

Now you want the extended version to show more cutscenes of the same crap ?
That is it ? and you are happy with that ?
So basically you are asking for a LOST explanation , how he stands at the end with starchild .
Saying see we did made a difference to the universe , but yeah we are out of the picture .
Now humanity must find there own to towards the future ....

Ok fine , gee you could have done that with the current ending !.

You moan about the game and when you get an announcement of something that is free, you respond with a billboard? Whats happening to you, Retake?

Accusitory, insulting, demeaning. This is why it blows my mind when people talk about how mean and assholish retakers are, when they act just as bad if not moreso. Posts like this add nothing to a discussion, it's just baseless insults, assumptions, and general dickishness. Rather than address why this is a bad idea, people see fit to name call.

I don't even understand what posts like this are trying to accomplish. Nobody is going to take your advice or listen to you when you take this sort of written tone, at very most you'll have other people on your side say "You tell 'em!". Dragoon's posts are starting to seem mostly like this, not just his either, but the whole group that's been anti-retake from the start just gets worse and worse. At least there was some effort to debate at first, now it's blind insults and accusations. Acting high-and-mighty gets you no where.
