This idea is stupid.

Starting any NEW charity/ movement/ protest gimmicks at this point is stupid.

<= Been thoroughly unsatisfied with the endings and the way media/Bioware treated VALID critcisms of the shotty endings since day 1.

Is anyone taking retakers seriously anymore ?
They are worth a few laughs here and there. Nothing more.

This is not Retake, it's a small group on holdtheline.com, they have now just presented a vote whether to continue with the billboard idea www.holdtheline.com/threads/continuing-with-the-billboard-campaign-or-not-community-discussion.833/

That sure sounds familiar.  So when Bioware says this, they're lying, but when you say it you're a paragon of true fandom fighting for a better ending?

But you forgot, Bioware is a company, and thus everything they do must be out of pure cynical greed. Sure we loved 95% of 3, and all of 1 and 2, and all of their previous games except for Dragon AGe 2 and in some cases TOR, but that doesn't matter when you are dealing with a corporation. Especially a corporation which doesn't give us exactly what we want.

Sure there is better things to do to keep pressure. Cupcakes? Was funny and at the same time made it clear. This? Not so much fun, and I doubt it will get positive attention.

For my part, after SUFFERING through Command And Conquer Tiberian Twilight, the ending of the Tiberium saga (15 years, 4 strategy games, 2 full expansions -no dlc crap- and 1 "curious" shooter game, all cointinuing the same story...) ,because EA screwed the guys doing it (in money for it, and in time to develop), and well , some OLD "offenses" they comited through their buys of companies and how they treated them... I am on the fence everytime they publish a game. So far I was getting Mass Effect 3 ASAP on launch, but Origin software, day 1 DLC, and my adquired distrust to anything EA touches, are very effective to maintaining me to not buy it.And last but not the least motive...the ending controversy. And FTR I love Mass Effect universe and games.

In a phrase, if you are going to spend money in your protest, at least: Be funny, or do someting useful for someone(charity is a good example), or speak directly with your wallet.

I think a billboard is over the line, and is going to accomplish nothing. At much, make someone at EA or Bioware pissed (not that I care, at least for the first ones). At worst it will go a year on without blaze and glory.

P.D:And, at least, until they "clarifify" the ending, people need to be more patient. If the ending dont improve quality, well, go and protest, but now, doing something like this...feels out of place.

I want to say first that I support the #ReTakeMassEffect movement, but I don’t support the Billboard campaign. I feel it is a waste of time and money and sends the wrong impression and message to people looking at us from the outside.

I feel any extended cut that still includes the Starchild is a slap in the face to the continuity and lore of the Mass Effect series. If Bioware really want’s to defend the Artistic Integrity of the series, they should defend the rest of the writers that wrote most of the series and established the continuity, not one writer that wrote an ending that destroyed 5 years of creativity.

That being said we should continue in civil discourse with Bioware and avoid unnecessary campaigns that can paint us as whiny cry babies, or spoiled Gamer’s etc. We should not have to lower ourselves to the levels some sites and critics have to get our point across.

We should wait continue to give feedback in a civil way, and wait and see what Bioware produces with this extended cut. Maybe, just maybe they will change their stance from now till then. If we continue to use inflammatory tactics against Bioware without seeing what they are working on, we will be the ones painted as villains.

This situation is like a game of Chess Bioware has made a series of moves, and if we do not take our time looking over the board when can not only lose our queen, but force our king into a checkmate position. It is time to take a deep breath, still be vocal, but in a restrained way so we don’t reverse our advantage.

Emotions need to be checked at the door when trying to fight for a cause in a positive way, without tarnishing the historic change we have made in the gaming medium.

Whilst I agree everyone is entitled to express their opinion, and I was also a bit disappointed with the ending, I have to say I'm stunned at the lengths some of you are going to.

It's only a game, and other than the last 10mins, a very good game.

Edited post to remove the bit that seems to have ruffled some folks feathers. I'm not trying to cause an argument, or be dismissive of peoples strong connection to the game (I love the Mass Effect series as much as the rest of you), I just think perhaps we're going a bit overboard with this now.

All this effort because you don't like the last 10mins of a computer game? Seriously? The people of Syria are being murdered by their own army, people in parts of Africa are facing famine, big business and banks have destroyed our economies, millions around the world live in poverty and oppression, and yet you choose to protest over a flipping computer game. Talk about first world problems.

It's only a game (and other than the last 10mins, a very good game), get over it and move on for pity sake.

Oy. How people NOT like to understand each other sometimes amazes me, but that is another topic for a different kind of thread. To stay on topic for the here and now, I recently read a very good article about a similar subject. It's informative and worth a read.

Honestly I don't think the Billboard is the best idea, if for no other reason then the practical. It's not likely that pushing any further is going to force Bioware to reconsider their plans right now, it'd be PR suicide at the very least.

I think the BEST move, should be to speak with the rest of Retake and focus on sending Bioware a comprehensive list of things we'd like to see in the upcoming DLC. They have a wonderful 'this is me' campaign, where everyone can get behind it and tell Bioware just what this series has meant to them.

Beyond that, I recommend that we wait and see what this DLC has in store for us. At worst, if they totally botch it then we start all over again.

Anyway, those are just my thoughts.

So am I, but positively. I find it nice to see people putting so much effort into what they want.

Personally, in this case I dont care quite enough. But if someone does, it is not bad to act accordingly.

While what you mention are very serious concerns, you should stop using it as an excuse for your "points".

You yourself are posting on this forum instead of traveling to Syria or Africa to help, or fighting capitalism.

So, unless you are packing your stuff right now to hop on the next airplane, kindly SHUT THE F*CK UP about this - you are no better than the Retake Movement.

No kidding. I'll wipe my harddrive and burn all my games and consoles to not get even accidentaly assoiated with these people.

...Well, no i won't, but i will say something that i've wanted to say since the release: Will you people get a life!?

This will not be the last time in your lives you'll be disappointed, so take this change to learn to deal with it.

Others try to fix it.

Okay.....I didn't like the endings either, but this is getting old. Guys, they already changed the entire DLC schedule to make the Extended Cut, and they are already giving it to us for free. They've compromised more than I thought they would. To me, this shows that they at least cared enough to do something, even if it wasn't exactly what everyone wanted (which some people's expectations were a LITTLE high). It's time to let it go. I for one, am looking forward to finding out what they did with the Extended Cut.

*I'm re-posting this from another thread--no need to revise my comments*

BioWare isn't going to give one inch more on the ending. I've been an ardent supporter of the Retake movement, but it's over. Any more concessions on BioWare's part will be an admission that Casey Hudson and Mac Walters failed, and it's clear that Hudson and Walters are so ego-involved in this self-created debacle they simply aren't capable of giving more.  Witness their cowardly absence at PAX East.

So while it sticks in my craw, I'm moving on...and I'm done with BioWare. I'll watch the Extended Cut endings that most closely match my choices on YouTube, even though the ExCut DLC is free. But I won't spend another thin dime on any BioWare or EA product. That's it.
