Child's Play campaign?
Fabulous, at least until the charity itself was too exposed.

Cupcake campaign?
Deliciously funny and ended in a very good way.

Billboard campaign?
The worst sh*tty stupid idea that a 4-year-old could ever come up with, and lo and behold some people are actually taking it seriously.

I am always amazed at the sheer amount of resources that sometimes certain people seem to have available. It's clear evidence that a good taste and intelligence does not correlate with wealth.

I wish this campaign to be flushed down the toilet.

And forgotten.

And fast.

RIGHT NAU.

This Billboard campaign has NOT been endorsed by the organziers of the facebook group which is over 60 thousand members strong, but was introduced by the Adminstrators of the site holdtheline.com.

These organizations do not have the same administators and the FB group has even gone so far as to say they DO NOT think this will help get better endings.

I interviewed one of those organizers who talked about great new plans for the movement that are non-aggressive and meant to give gamers the option to WORK WITH Bioware on Extended Cut, Not insult them.

Here is that link. Enjoy!

Comments like this do not further our cause. They make us look childish and vindictve. Sure, BioWare's PR gurus pulled this tactic on us, but you shouldn't treat community members who have equal value as you on the board in the same manner. As someone speaking to the people on behalf of the campaign, you need to present a far higher level of civility and openness, especially when people are concerned they may be unintentionally represented by anything you wind up doing.

This is really getting out of control. All you are doing is insulting the developers of Mass Effect at this point and that's not OK. These guys and gals have worked really hard, and are really trying. Regardless of whether they "get it right or wrong" it's not OK to continuously shove insults and hatred into their faces. Hell, I'm not even sure I'd want to come to work anymore after this constant berating let alone want to appease anyone. I certainly wouldn't be putting my 100% into my job nor would I be at my creative best. All your doing is hurting all of us, including yourselves and your cause at this point.

I was going to say something here, but then I saw that BoneNinja had already expressed my thoughts precisely.

This is so humiliating for the "Retake" people and you don't even know it.

You're spending money to do this? You know people are being murdered by their own government in Syria today? You could raise awareness of that. People are dying of countless diseases. You could raise awareness of that. Yet... You're trying to get a billboard so you can raise awareness that a videogame didn't conform to your expectations?

I'm embarrassed for you.

I wish people would stop this bullsh!t argument when they are no better themselves.

YOU are posting here - Why?! You could go to Syria and make a difference... or more likely get shot but whatever.

But no, you are just hypocritical because your actions show that just like the Retakers you care more about video games than Syria.

I love how the fact that the whole thing is currently suspended because the people planning it aren't sure that the rest of the "Retake Movement" approves is being ignored.

HAH!  Well done!

Frankly, I don't give a crap one way or another anymore.  Let Mass Effect die the death that it deserves.  Leave it to the FPS players who don't give a flying crap about story.

The only issue is whether retakers can come up with something that is smart, not offensive to Bioware, and gets our message across clearly while making us look like 'god damn heroes' in the process

There were no administrators involved in the creation of the billboard project, it was an idea formulated by several members.  I am a member of the Facebook site and HTL, so I'm a member of that 60,000-strong.  I love how you're trying to separate the two out and create a divide, though, props.

The billboard campaign has been suspended anyway.  The funding probably would have happened in time to get them set up, but there wasn't enough of a majority for it, so the organizers (rank-and-file members, remember) decided they weren't comfortable pushing forward.  Retake is about building consensus, and there simply wasn't one on this project.

Actions like this hurt the movement as is seen by the feelings within this community.

Your administators claimed to represent the feelings of thousands of fans and instead you brought confusion.

The FB page organizers are trying to work with Bioware, projects like this prove the need to ensure a distinction is made.

So that normal fans and the media don't think that the Facebook group had ANYTHING to do with this.

then why wasn't the billboard posted on the FB's main wall? only thing i saw relating anything having to do with a billboard was a response to someone's side wall post.  but i guess you guys didn't talk to the guy who does all the main wall posts do you?

i'm not insulting you or anything since i am apart of the the Retake group but i did not sign up to HTL.

Because the organizations are run by entirely different teams. Look at the FB wall again, the team there advises against this plan and had NOTHING to do with it's implementation.

If your idealism matters to you, then you should do what you want. You will never get a clear picture on who is with you or against you on this. Even if it has gone to being about more than the ending, it's all good.

The only thing that is certain, is that those who think you are being stupid - do not care. They do not gain anything from telling you to stop, but to make themselves feel good about themselves. You guys should not be afraid to sound your voice, there are many with you on this.

Nothing bad will come out of this, as long as its within the law.

FB decided in their own, without consulting everyone else, that htl.com was a"fringe" group and didn't belong in the club, essentially. FB hasn't been open to communication or explaining their reasoning for cutting up the territories. A small group of htl.com members discussed the billboard idea, and honestly thought it'd be a good idea to get the members together again and to get the community working again. Then went to the community for ideas, opinions and general consensus. When the community (which included all the sites) didn't back them (honestly, it's a 50/50 split) they're tapping the breaks.
They could have gone ahead and made it happen, half the community supports and is ready to donate money to the cause as this is being written. But this team cares about the community and recognizes they are not the leaders. They just had an idea - that's all. It was just an idea, people.

FB continues to separate and try and divide us, and there's a journalist with a boner out there to try and amplify this divide when it's the last thing anyone wants.
The petty insults that are thrown at these people for merely having an idea and wanting to make it happen is unbecoming.

You went to the HTL community......of around a thousand.....and then posted as if this campaign was proposed by the Retake movement....

Actions like this and the negative feed back from gaming sites that is on the way needs to be quelled in order to help protect the community and THAT happens when organizers of the FB page say definitively.

We DO NOT support this billboard project. We never did, and we are not affiliated with the organization that was facilitating this.

Agreed the fans make the choice, but either administation needs to faciliate that choice...FB didn't and is being punished for HTL's mistakes

You either don't seem capable of understanding the concept or refuse to acknowledge that they are ONE IN THE SAME!
Peope on FB are the same ones on HTL.com! They aren't seperate, they aren't acting independently, and they don't have sepearate goals.
There were no mistakes made. HTL proposed an idea that was - quite frankly - a better one than a "shepard dance video" and redundant radio interviews (that are boring as sin.) *rolls eyes*
I don't remeber putting anyone in charge and I don't remeber agreeing to put this "FB administration" (whoever that includes) in charge of speaking for what I, as a member of retake, do and do not agree with.
And stop pretending htl.com is so much smaller than FB. Those 60,000 "likes" do not accruately represent the retake movement and the htl.com site has a lot more traffic, dicussion and forums.
WE ARE THE SAME and EVERYONE has a right to have an idea and organize it and propose it to the community. THAT"S THE POINT

End of line.
