Oh, so....this actually isn't meant to be associated with the (generally ) more civil members of Retake?

Can someone let the Facebook owner know about this? They've made official posts covering their ass before...it might be prudent to do so in this case.

Apparently so.... more reflects the wishes of the holdtheline.com community. Which is not entirely reflective of the whole group.

Which is probably why the OP isn't a member of the actual group here on BSN.

I love the way you pretend to speak for many by always saying we and referring to retake. Read your own thread, vast amounts of retake are against this because they have common sense and know the end result will severely damage your group. You wasted a month on such a silly idea. Look at the reactions here and multiply it by thousands or millions and realise how the media and other gamers will react the same way. Time to wake up and smell the coffee. Burst that ego of yours and come out into the real world.

I still don't understand what's so evil about this billboard? What is causing all this hate? We're doing nothing to extreme if you ask me. Maybe the 9k price tag is, but the billboard in itself is nothing to cry wolf about.

How come there is no option in the poll for thinking this is a total waste money and quite possibly the dumbest idea anyone has ever had, in all of recorded history, and perhaps since the beginning of time.

Because the OP knows the result will dam her or him.

Not really. Mostly because we planned this already for 1 month..the community at least. It took us at least 2 weeks to get a deal with the billboard company, and not much of a deal at that. It's taken alot of planning from us. So we would like to see this get done.

Though we respect those who don't.

Strange. I've been on the BSN every day for since ME3 came out. Surprising that this is the first I've heard of it. Too bad there wasnt a poll among Retake because I used to stand with the movement, but for me this is taking things too far. One billboard will accomplish absolutely nothing. Perhaps it would have been a wise idea to poll the Retake supporters if they thought this was a good idea, because it seems all this billboard thing will do is split the Retake movement. Good job helping EA out by dividing us though.

The original plan had 17 billboards throughout the local Edmenton area...but the 32k price tag was a bit steep.

Cool, Edmonton. Any studies regarding how many people would see these billboards, even if there were 17? I originally planned to buy BioWare from EA after I hit the $500 million lottery in my state, but that didnt happen. What you "originally" planned means nothng. Its the plan that is going into action that matters. And all 1 lousy billboard does is make all of the people who called us "entitled crybabies" right. No need to get anymore bad press for Retake. Forbes is pretty much the only ones on our side, and I'd bet they would jump ship after this stunt.

This is one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard. Why would anyone waste money on this? It won't make a big enough difference to warrant it.

According to the avertising company 65% of all trafficers living in Edmenton would see our ad.

Are you guys official allies? Have they supported or addressed it yet? Do they even know about this poll that lacks a dislike option?

If they'll support you, get it in writing. Iirc, they thought the FTC complaint was too much ...but if you're sure they'll support you officially, I'd clear that up asap.

Otherwise, can people get word to the organizers so they can prepare a response?

I agree with him. Time to move on people, this war is lost. Bioware is giving us some cutscenes to help closure and a free DLC for multiplayer. There, happy? No? They don't care. I hated the ending too, but sometimes you just have to take your losses. Grow up people.

a) It's costly. This is money that could go towards any number of constructive things (even involved with Retake:ME).

B) It's divisive. Clearly the Retakers on here are mostly against it. That implies that people don't like the idea, and think that it sends the wrong message. That should be enough to make you reconsider the tactic, since people deciding enough is enough is bad for the movement.

c) They have promises a halfway point, and while you and your community clearly don't like it, it comes across far worse to take this kind of stand now.

d) It's not funny or making a point, it is an aggressive mood. It is literally putting a billboard out there for people to see whenever they head to work. The cupcakes were funny, but the billboard comes across as desperate and aggressive, especially when EVERYONE knows how people feel.

e) You don't represent the movement you claimed you did at the start, and are clearly not open to negative feedback.

You should wait, seriously.

They said they will not change the current ending, but what if they dont want to change it because the game isnt over yet and they need this retard ending to lead into it?

Err um, I do repersent the movement. I was the one who first suggested the billboard campaign. My username is Jim on holdtheline.com, and if you go to war room you can see a 20+ page that I created...I wanted to be the backseat driver on this. I gave Micheal the "mike" so to speak.

If they officially support them and this stupid idea goes ahead it will greatly damage them too.

They will by chaining themselves to the titanic know as this billboard idea.

The problem is that it is extreme.  The first thing that happened when I saw it was alarm bells went off in my head.  It makes you and those you are speaking for seem childish and silly.  It makes you seem impatient and unwilling to compromise.  Actions like this go from "Holding the line" to "Crossing the line".

I am surprised you are having trouble seeing that as a lot of people seem to be against this.  I was very much pro retake myself and this right here spoiled retake for me.  I don't want to be associated with them anymore.

I think putting up a billboard by their places of business is boarderline harrassment.  Not to mention just plain rude.  The charity was fine.  Letter campaign was great.  Memes are fun.  Even the cupcake thing was cute.

The billboard is going to far.

The end to Mass Effect 3 is extremely important to me. But I definately think the billboard campaign is too aggressive. Maybe if it had been up during the immediate aftermath of the ending debacle, before the DLC announcement. But right now it just amounts to beating BioWare over the head with signs when they're about aware of the issue as they're going to get.

Right now, it's not awareness that needs to be raised. Its feedback that needs to continue to be sent. People need to spend more time writing and submitting detailed---and far more vauable---feedback and emails that are civil and intelligent, not spending precious time organzing an expensive billboard campaign that'll just hurt the movement. I cannot enphasise this enough.

You're paying 9k to complain over free dlc to a video game that isn't what you thought it should be. It's extreme when compared to an FTC complaint that cost postage, was slammed, and didn't help accomplish much...other than, maybe, the aforementioned dlc.

On the offchance Retake supports this in an official capacity, there's no shame in distancing yourself from it. You can say you supported them early on, but th.at it got too extreme (yes, I think spending 9k to launch a public complaint, which might not be able to use actual names, us extreme ). I would hope Retake's Facebook page will announce their stance on this, but if they condone this, and you don't agree, no shame in distancing yourself.

None from me, anyways.

What would we accomplish with this?

1- Bioware and EA are well aware of the issue and the general hate of the ending

2- The billboard doesn't have the words mass effect 3, bioware or EA on it.

3- People wont know what it is even talking about

4- If im working at EA and pass this bill board I chuckle then tell my fellow employees about it over lunch. They wont know what it was referencing. This is a funny side note on my drive to work, not a punch in the face

5- If we are going to spend $9000 donate it to a charity in retakes name. Or send bioware pies this time.
