Jesus christ how did this become a vile flame war thread? I thought this was a clever little idea that would help spread a message. I'll admit the content of said billboard needs to be revised, but I don't really think it would create the "OMG HUGE NEGATIVE PRESS" that people seem to be saying it will. Jesus, did the cupcakes get such negative press? methinks not....

My thoughts as well. It's not like were threatening to commit mass sucicide over the endings. It's a billboard guys!

NO , it's not a billboard it's 9,000 dollars worth of BED PRESS and SPLIT MOVEMENT

I like it. Personalty, the news exposure of an ending so bad that fans bought a billboard to say no makes me laugh, and I'll chip in some cash for it.

Keil,

Do you honestly think people outside of BSN will care to make the distinctpol? Your shortsightedness will yield more negative coverage than positive, assuming we as a community can't downplay it as the actions of a whining minority with a slanted poll. If we can't, people will claim these are the actions of the "fans"...I doubt many will care to break it down beyond this.

"The fans" are funding a billboard to protest free ending dlc because tghe game and its developers (which, apparently, you can't even list) are getting something as the result of a prior protest, just not exactly what they want.

Protesting free dlc? We could care less about the free dlc. We want totally revised endings, that's what we are fighting for.

Please stop addressing only a small fraction of what he wrote and evaluate the entire thing.

Sure. We could care less about how people regard us. People have called us entitled whiners from day 1. Even with the cupcakes, gaming press kept flaming us regardless of how cute and touching it was (since the cupcakes were sent to an orpapange).

 There minds are set.

Actually not all believe this, some yes but not all. The cupcakes also won over quite a few people who saw it for what it was cheeky humor... this is a completely different level and has such a massive potential for failure.

Also, while you might not care what people think of you, the rest of the fans who you, in your shortsightedness, have been and will inadvertently be associated with this action might care.

Make it clear you are a minority and do not speak for fans everywhere in your OP, please, as many of us do care about being associated with you, accidentally or noticed.

You do realize anything this movement will do will cause bad press right?

An split movement? The retake me3 group wanted to split from us even before this proposal. (though they have apoligized since)

BioWare (and perhaps EA) has screwed up so royally it's to the point where consumers would rather spend money on negative publicity instead of simply abstaining from BioWare's products. Has anyone heard of that before? I am in awe.

I support the idea. I choose the "focus on EA"-option - because ultimately they will decide the fate of Mass Effect, not Bioware. Maybe Bioware says about "artistic integrity", but beleive me, EA doesn't care about any "artistic"-stuff. They care about money, PR, etc.

This is a good action to generate more attention for this cause. A fan movement's almost only weapon is media attention. A billboard campaign like this will generate more media attention - and this is a good goal.

One suggestion: take a QR code to the billboard. This QR code should lead to a website where our concerns and demands can be read.

This story has yet to receive attention from news leaders. I just emailed at Huffington Post about the movement concerning issues with the ending.

But thats just one person.

If you folks could possibly email them aswell, it would help spur Bioware to address our problems. The email address is below.

scoop@huffingtonpost.com

Make your email as short or as long as you want. As long as you send it, it greatly increases the chance of receiving the noteriety that Mass Effect deserves,

Thank you, and spread the word.

People don't see it as simply a billboard. To a lot of people the Retake Mass Effect movement has been an important part of attempting to change communication with game deveopers. Actions they have issue with and send, in their opinion, a wrong message are destructive to the movement as a whole. People want to ask for a new ending, but don't want to be the entitled whiners that the press has made them out to be.

Actions like this, which does border on trolling a developer aren't going to be seen well by anyone outside of the core group who wants it. There isn't a positive message to it, or a clear vision of how it will help. It just comes across as the kind of thing that will get some "bad" press and then flick away, and people don't want that.

Keil , please , I urge you . All the other initiatives taken thus far have met with universal approval by the entire community that disliked the endings .

WHY CHANGE A FORMULA THAT WORKS .

that's what they did with ME3

Please don't switch it up .

Please please there are so many other ideas that we can all rally behind with universal acclaim . I ask you that considering all the explaining and defending that you have to do not to make the same mistake BioWare is making by ignoring complaints .

Seek something that works for everyone and dump 9000 dollars into it . I beg of you .

Personally, I don't think it is EA's choice to decide though. It is definitely Bioware's decision to make.

But if this ends up happening...I can always take a picture of the billboard, since I'm only 20 minutes away.

I'm not here to tell them how to end it, just that they failed. I don't know much about art, but I know what I like. And I don't like the end of ME 3.

Speaking of all this though, where are you collecting money?

Why not a poll where we get to vote on whether this is really a good idea? If you really want to represent Retake like that maybe you should consider a larger consensus, so to speak.

And what should we do then? We've been given very little details about this free DLC they're making, bioware is STILL failing at basic communication skills, and there is only so much we can do in the digitil realm. Inaction would be to allow large companies to ****** on us, with the assurance that entering PR-bomb shelter mode and/or throwing us a tiny bone will allow them to avoid admitting fault....

Yes a billboard might be overdoing it. It might be tacky. But it's better than just stewing on forums. Better ideas are welcome. Please, discuss something else to work for to forward our cause.

i think the letters too small and not making the best use of the billboard space. Just wondering if the design could utilise the billboard space more.

Other than that, I think this is a bold idea.

Again, do you think the average driver will care if you're from one website or another, since you can't even mention the product or company.

If you are truly speaking for the holdtheline members, all of thousands of them, make it clear that it is a campaign from those fans specifically through that website, not the BSN or others. Lick it on BSN so it cant be associated with us, and keep discussion pertaining to it there.

Get holdtheline to support it officially so the rest of us know what exactly we have to distance ourselves from.

Anyways, took a look at the OP again. No mention that this is solely the work of holdtheline, and it still links to a poll on this site. Associations can and will still be made.
