Listen I me and listen well, you will hurt HTL and Retake if you do this. You will be giving EA free advertising on top of making is look like ****s.

Do not do this, you are acting exactly like Bioware by doin this. STOP! I am a faithful HTL member Nd this will only hurt us!

They don't care if they do, so long as the publicity for their site gets out there.

Who cares if they lump people in with this that don't deserve it.

This isn't how HTL operates I assure you, it's only a few bad apples.

Just wanted to let it be known that we spent time working on this. Scouting the various locations, getting in conact with the billboard agencies, the various hurdlles we had to jump through. We really put alot of effort into this idea. We spent alot of time on this, so to see it being shot down in mere seconds is quite disheartening to say the least.

You forgot one very important and critical thing "everybody else"

You don't have to convince me, I've dealt with the bad apples before, I assure you.

the very fact that Bioware has not satisfied the fans by constantly touting how much they worked on ME3 and how great the Mordin mission is should be a big indicator that this billboard idea , despite all the hard work , should not be implemented .

First off, I'd go making a large centered community on facebook and generate traffic there.
Count the numbers.

then I would think about other ways of being heard than spending ton of money.
I do want better endings, but I do not want either of us spending lots of money for unneeded billboards.

There is FB, YT, all the modern media that can be heard. Let's use that.
If not, in near future we'll try to raise money for a TV commercial. And I'm afraid of such decision.

The charity was worthy of spending money. Billboards aren't. Not too many people will understand and we want those who know what ME is to know and listen. Not mothers on their way to target stores...

That's just my oppinion on the matter.

Yeah, I've been supportive of the movement but this seems like a waste of money.

What is going to be achieved by this? What message are you going to get across that BW and EA aren't already aware of?

I can understand how it's disheartening, but I hope you understand that we might still get some negative publicity over this. While you might not care about it, myself and others clearly do because it's happening here, on the BSN, which has been reported on already, and not the HTL site. We want good publicity on our side (that's what started the charity drive and cupcakes)...wanting good, not just mixed or any, publicity. This, imo, would not be "good"; it'd be mixed at best and confusing for anyone who hasn't been following this drama as a whole.

While I will accept the apology, it doesn't excuse what you did as tremendously shortsighted, and hopefully it can be downplayed by those of us who care about maintaining the legitimacy of our complaints as customers, not angry fans. It's not an undo button, especially if you're trying to find out a more favorable way to make it work (which, again, I urge you not to do)

Regardless, if people have already donated, I think you owe it to them to explain that discussion is taking place and that this plan needs to be reconsidered in the OP. People donated to Child's Play and clearly didn't read the OP, and if there's confusion, even doubt...you owe it to existing and potential donors to let them know.  They trusted you with their money, and I think you owe them more than just an apology for the manner of your posts.

As much as this makes me want to vomit, "wars can be won and lost in the editing room" (ugh), and I hope you can see how this sort of big and bold action can backfire on the fans collectively. Not just BSN, not just Retake, not just HTL, but "the fans"...because the potential now exists for us to be lumped into this regardless.

What? They are the one's who told us to keep going when we lied and said this idea was scrapped.

Okay, there's a point where we just need to chill. I'm willing to give Bioware a modicum of faith with the "Extended Cut DLC" and I think that rubbing something like this in their faces would be counter-productive to the cause. Bioware knows the goals of RetakeME3 and HTL, they don't need a billboard of all things to remind them.

Please just don't do this. I have a bad feeling about it.

I can't understand the "but they promised to fix it, we should have faith" sentiment after the way they lied to us about the endings prior to the release of ME3.....anyone still remember 16 endings, closure, all questions adressed, not being a clear A, B or C matter and on and on and on.....they've delivered nothing yet but more promises.

These billboards should be a solid reminder that we are still very much watching and not going away.

So the gracious creator of this product wishes to hide from those voicing concern? That is the feeling I get looking at your HTL forums about this billboard.

That's the feeling I got from their site as well (can't register, or I'd gladly leave a comment for their creative staff as well). Their "unified" group seems to be having their own doubts after the level of concern has been voiced, even to their lead telling people to stop and wait until they've discussed it themselves.

Not seeing the month worth of planning, myself.

Also, I take it OP you are known as Jim on there.

OP stated they were Jim on HTL in a previous post.

ORLY? Well that makes things interesting..

Exactly ,

And while it may be difficult for the ones who conceived this idea to suddenly step back and realize that they've constructed an idea that may not fly , realize that we are only doing this to help you guys and that the more you guys sleep the more this thread will paint you guys in a bad light .

I suggest suspending the idea in the OP and in the title ASAP to let everyone know that this isn't a project you guys are on the verge of implementing but rather something you guys are working hard towards seeing if it's any good at all and then hopefully after all of you are awake and realize how negative it is being viewed by our own community that this will be a lesson in learning how to be better than how BioWare handled themselves with how badly received their ending is .

This is a terrible idea.

Charity? Awesome cool.
Cup-cakes? Sweetest 'troll' ever.
Billboards???

This is down in the gutter with the FTC complaint.

it's not about the billboard or the media.. it's about pimpin' the website yo

You 'deserves better fans' are part of what incited these idiots. For every troll-action, there's troll-reaction.

orly? So I made them hate the game and whine for 5 weeks, threaten lives, and give money to charities and make billboards and websites? give me a break. you sure give me a lot of credit

There wasn't much wrong with charities or making websites. It was cute, relatively innocent, and even some ways 'innovative' while it lasted. The 'Whining' was justified, given the state/quality of the endings. Personally, I am of the opinion that this whole Retake debacle in SOME WAYS was good for video game storytelling and its continuing step towards being taken seriously as an artistic medium. It broke the self-back-patting cycle that'd been going on for a little too long.

Of course, death threats were assinine (though 'death threat' seems to be involved in just about everything these days), the FTC complaint was just stupid, but just as all of that crap seemed to start dying off, this crap picks up. Most of it has to do with the fact that a lot of these people 'mobbed up' hoping for some big raid or a riot or Bioware bucking there knees and turning their ass-cheeks toward the mob, and realized 'cupcakes' are just about as far as it will/should ever go.

But you've gotta admit the whole 'anti-anti-ending' crowd really picked up trolling in force after the announcements came in (which is really when **** would have started to calm/die down). You were certainly of no help.

ps. Maybe it's just cause I've always looked in on the BSN community from the outside, but I personally find these 'mass-printed' forum banners in signatures about as tacky as bumper stickers in the south.

For me , it rather sounds like the same mistake that's rumoured to have happened between the creative team and Hudson et al . People so in love with their vision and the hard work that they put in that it's difficult to change .

Luckily HTL has an opportunity to reverse it with no cost to themselves unlike BioWare . Hopefully they'll make the right choice on the matter .
