Aren't you guys digging away at him a little too much?

You got retakers calling him an idiot, and Henchxnarf arguing about a context of a pointless statement.

I'm not sure who is crazier in here: the OP or the people on the last 3 pages.

Nah, it's still the OP. Don't worry.

I keep telling myself to avoid resorting to trollish one liners, so, to clarify:

The OP started this and, with a simple apology and clarification of his own (suspiciuously similar to BioWare's), tried to get it to stop after being pretty inciting with his remarks.

On top of that, the first post or thread title makes no mention of the following, and I truly feel that they should. Again, these are direct quotes from the OP regarding raising $9,000 (which is a lot of money to me) using donations.

KeilxKey wrote...

If it doesn't make the goal then we will donate the money to retake me3 new chairity "save point"

KeilxKey wrote...

WHO CARES IF IT IS WASTEFUL OR NOT!!!

And these quotes, while I hate to hammer on about them, should truly be added to expand on the current state of this campaign...which is that there might be some doubt on the part of the creators over how to execute it. Hell, even the timeline is fuzzy.

Now, you might ask why this matters, and my answer is simple: they are still expecting donations as early as tomorrow because this has not changed:

KeilxKey wrote...

A Chip In will be created tomorrow morning as well based on whatever you guys decide.

So, they are listening to input, having discussions about this...but have no plans to hold off on starting a fund and accepting donations anyways?

You are on the last three pages as well :wizard: but even with that.. i'll say the OP

If I have one post, than your surplus is larger than mine.

The idea itself is bad and stupid, but all of these speculative accusation in here at the OP are just as funny. Maybe its just as bad that the OP as actually feeding it.

Can we just start spamming /facepalm pictures now so this thread gets locked on account of dumb/spam?

All I saw was the butt-hurt defensive replies from the OP in combination of the stupid idea, which added up to 'stupid'.

Guys. I apoligize if have upset anyone. It's just that we've worked on this project for a month, and it's taken quite a effort to put this all together.

I also apoligize for some of my responses. I'm getting tired and a little cranky because of that.

We're listenting to ALL OF YOUR concerns, and Micheal and me are discussing the best course to take with this.

So sorry! I feel I've said some things I shouldn't have. I'll update you guys when I have further news. Image IPB

They really should work on making their forums private to non-users..

www.holdtheline.com/threads/continuing-with-the-billboard-campaign-or-not-community-discussion.833/

This also seems to imply that there wasn't a consensus to begin with at HTL (and the poll for the billboard idea sort of conveys this with 100 votes vs 1000 members).

The billboard would be in CA, not Canada tho.

I think if they're targeting Bioware they're going to target the Edmonton Studios so its both? or one ... i dont know the whole thing is crap.

IA, it doesn't really matter at this point.

We should target the decision makers - this people are working at EA, not Bioware.

unless you count 'people' by how many times they post. I should still be considered as one just like you. oh, wait, I forgot that requires thinking

Not so sure this is a good idea.

Can't honestly say I ever notice billboards. It seems like a lot of money to pay for something that might reflect poorly on the movement as a whole.

And yet...no mention of this in the OP. Clever :)

Now, isn't the idea that if you yell loud enough, you'll eventually be heard? Not so fun when that tactic is being used against you, is it?

At the absolute minimum, if you decide to keep on pursuing this and not shut down this thread, then add these direct quotes:

KeilxKey wrote...

If it doesn't make the goal then we will donate the money to retake me3 new chairity "save point"

KeilxKey wrote...

WHO CARES IF IT IS WASTEFUL OR NOT!!!

And remove this one until there is a better idea of what is going on and the "listening" and discussion has ended

KeilxKey wrote...

This is only fair to the current and potential donors, I believe, as it would alert them that this is not as sound a cause as the first post still seemingly suggests.

They just started a poll to check whether or not it should be scrapped:

http://www.holdtheli...discussion.833/

Some might say "but you're inviting a bunch of pro-enders to vote no on this"

Let me be very clear , therefore .

It is preferable if the occasional pro-ender seeps into the voting pool if a large group of Retakers and anti-Enders take up the vote .

Why ? Because imagine the alternative:

HTL conducts this internal poll and finds themselves marginally in favour .

DESPITE a significant portion of even their own population against it (a BioWare mistake , mind you)

They go ahead with the plan and then , bam , all of the bad things listed in this thread by people happen .

Better to get lots of Retakers and Anti-Enders to vote and show them that this is not good for the community rather than them in their own closed room (remind you of how Hudson and Walters allegededly did the endings on their own?) somehow give themselves a "mandate" to move forward with a highly unpopular thing .

I'm glad that most people seem heavily skeptical to downright against the billboard idea, at least. We should probably just promote the Kids Need to Read drive more.

I appreciate the effort you guys put into this ,and certainly you care very much for the ME universe. But i would advise to rethink this idea.
Just consider the possible gain vs possible side effects. I see lots of major side effects. And very few positive things coming out of this.
Maybe better wait for the summer? Starting to burn bridges now before Bioware can show how serious their efforts of fixing things - will 100% backfire.
Just do not loose spirit nor passion. If in the summer it will be nothing more then a wall of text PR stunt, those will be needed.

I'm laughing becuase you think this poll would have come up sometime during this "month" of planning, not just today :P

This has the potential to backfire on all of us, "the fans", if spin is given, and I predict it will be. If you think dealing with that single FTC complaint was bad enough, this is dealing with something a little harder to ignore (visually, at least :P)

Pro-ender, anti-ender...don't support this idea. Regardless of your feelings on the ending, let them know that this is a horrible way to protest when weighed against other alternatives.

I bet you to the punch with the poll

Well both of their polls so far have been biased. Not sure why it was necessary to create a whole another poll instead of editing the current one regarding the billboard.

Child's play and cupcake campaigns were incredibly good and smart. I loved those.

However EA / Bioware could easily avoid / reject them, that's the problem.

WOW they come to BSN to try and garner support, but they dont want BSN's Input.. Another one tries to state that it should be kept between trusted members.

This reeks worse than the crap we've been dealing with.

Just when I thought the majority of this forum couldn't get any worse.

A billboard over a video game ending, really? The ending was awful yes, but did you forget about the other 99% of the game? Good lord people are insufferable here.

I agree. I hope BSN members of all sides rally against this and don't donate a penny. Don't let this conversation die either because the chip in will start within a day.
