Anyone here from HTL that can tell me why it's been nearly an hour and I've not received a confirmation email? this is not an accusation as my isp provided email is blocked by some sites, but only rarely.

Also,

A Chip In will be created tomorrow morning as well based on whatever you guys decide.

Even if this poll was copied and pasted, this clearly says "you guys", and it's being posted, as is, on the BSN.

To do the math, you guys (being posted on the BSN) = the BSN, even if it appeared on HTL first.

It's not just HTL; your OP doesn't specify just who is deciding the fate of this. As such, BSN should be well within their right to vote and post since you haven't bothered to amend this :)

Heading to bed soon so I'll recap the major points against this whole thing:

Snippets of why this is bad:

RECAP OF WHY THIS IS BAD :

1. INEFFICIENT . Why spend 9000 on a billboard when we can buy more MEDIA ATTENTION by buying 10,000 cupcakes or ice cream with 16 different flavours (just one example)

2. NOT UNIVERSAL . The big thing about helping the children charity and the cupcakes was that it was UNIVERSALLY POPULAR

3. SAME MISTAKES AS EA/BIOWARE IN NOT LISTENING TO NEGATIVE REACTIONS EVEN IF YOU THINK YOU'RE RIGHT .

4. OPPORTUNITY TO TURN BACK . BioWare did not get this chance since we didn't know how they were going to end it before they did . Please Please Please , you' guys are lucky people care enough to tell you that this is not a good idea .

5. DON'T COUNT THE SUPPORTERS OF THE IDEA COUNT THOSE AGAINST . there wasn't even an option in the poll to say this is a bad idea ! that's the same mistake BioWare made by STICKING TO THEIR ENDING

LIST OF SOME BILLBOARD-BIOWARE PARALLELS:

1. COUNTING SUPPORTERS INSTEAD OF THOSE AGAINST

2. PR SPIN OF 'YES WE'RE LISTENING BUT WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT OFF THE TABLE'

3. THINKING THOSE AGAINST IT ARE JUST PRO-ENDERS AND NOT A SIGNIFICANT SAMPLE SIZE OF RETAKERS

4. 'WE WORKED SO HARD THEREFORE PLEASE ACCEPT OUR BILLBOARD' (replace the word Billboard with Ending)

5. PLANNED ONLY INTERNALLY WITHOUT SEEKING OUTSIDE DELIBERATION TO GAUGE UNIVERSAL APPROVAL

If Hudson said to you "We worked on this game for years , scouting out the various photos to photoshop into Tali , contacting EA , the various hurdles we had to jump through . We really put a lot of effort into this ending . We spent a lot of tiem on this . so to see it being shot down in mere seconds is quite disheartening"

Do you honestly think you'd suddenly like his endings ?

Please .. Please ... do you not see the inherent need to learn from BioWare's mistakes here ?

ON WHETHER OR NOT WE SHOULD IGNORE THE SUPPORTERS:

Yes , because those supporters will remain if we move on to a new initiative that garners more universal support

And I'll encourage everyone here to go vote on what you think should be done : http://www.holdtheli...discussion.833/

You know, looking at this, this whole billboard mess is too good not to be some sort of satire.

Could you imagine that soon some of us anti-Billboarders are going to have Indoctrination Theorists that say that HTL PLANNED THIS ALL ALONG ! :o ... :? ..... :crying: God help us .

The thing i see here happening is that the billboard is seen as agressive, I have already talked to bsghotdog saying, imo, the cupcakes were fun and cheeky, but also a clear slap in the face to the company. There is no reason a billboard couldn't be cheeky. However, this doesn't really matter, the damage is done.

Just to be clear, I didn't say the cupcakes were a slap in the face.

I thought they were a great way to get attention and voice displeasure at a time when it seemed BW were not addressing community concerns.

Comapred to this proposed billboard campaign that is taking place after BW has moved to address the endings. That is a real slap in the face especially when we have no idea what the new DLC will be like.

Would advise scrapping idea.

I know and understand your pain, OP. You worked long and hard on what you felt was an awesome idea. In premise: It IS! But to the public eye: It seems to be an odd thing.

Leave here knowing that you gained MY personal perspective that you are a dedicated person and is trying to make things happen.

This is... unwise. For starters, it's a very broad forum for a very narrow issue. The only people that are going to A) know what it's about and B) care are Bio and/or (some) EA employees and gamers that are invested in ME. Second, anyone who has any power in Bioware to enact change can (and HAS) come onto the forums and gather that the populace is rioting, so big billboards aren't going to tell them something they don't already know.

I dont know about this.
I ignore billboards on a regular basis, and I don't know a whole lot of people that will take action because of a sign on the road.

Just saying, don't think this is the best way to spread the word.
We've got the freaking internet right here, guys.

A protest of this degree is embarrassing. Granted I'm completely against the current ending and the band aid they are putting on it. Yet this is going too far. I can see it now on the news.

"Meanwhile in Syria protesters are being hunted down by President Assad's forces. Meanwhile in the America..."

It will be used as a weapon to make us all seem like spoiled brats

They don't care :)

KeilxKey wrote...

Of course we care what people think. But I also care what various other communites say as well (facebook, twitter, htl, neogaf, etc). There are supporters, and then there are others who are clearly not a fan of this. We are listening to everyone. Not just exclusively bsn.

jules_vern18 wrote...

Again, I agree that 32k would be excessive.  I have been advocating for the 9k option for the billboard near EA offices for a couple of days to gain media exposure.

KeilxKey wrote...

I personally don't care how other people regard it. We're not trying to appeal to other people. We're simply trying target EA/Bioware....if we get some extra traffic from these billboards who had no clue about this group than that would be icing on the poverbial cake.

So $9,500 to $32,000 spent on.....billboards.....is this idea for real?

If so.....wow.....what a monsterous waste.....especially with that generic graphic, which no one will know what the sign means. Instead, use that money towards taking a financing/business class, a graphics design course or buy them some riot gear in case the Vancouver Canucks choke in the playoffs and the fans get craaazy again. Now there is money well-spent for you ReTake folk.

Oh no , Iw as trying to say I told you that it can be thought of as that way, sorry if it came off as unclear. I just thought "I was telling somebody here in pm" was a bit weird.

This. The cupcakes may have been a sweet middle finger, but the billboard is just a giant middle finger without any reason or incentive to do so. It will cause breaks among RME and serve no purpose other than spiting Bioware and open Retake as a whole to criticism.

It's especially funny considering the incredibly condescending way he was using the Mass Effect twitter "thanks for the feedback" etc. earlier in the thread.

The whole thing has made Hold The Line look awful.

I'm seeing this as being a bit excessive.

We've already pushed BioWare back to extending the ending, it's not what we wanted but it's a small step forward.

We just need to continue protesting, save the big guns for after the extended DLC doesn't deliver. It's smarter that way and more financially sound.

Pull out your big guns now and you won't have anything to to show when it really matters.
