To Update - This Campaign is suspended until further notice. Our intention has never been to divide the movements involed, and seeing as how this campaign threatens that, it has been suspended pending review. We are currently taking climate polls to judge the complete feel of the entire community (both Retake and HTL) and we pray that any damage done by announcing our intentions can be reversed.

I would like to attempt to contain this, but I think it may be difficult at this point. Please be assured that as the head of this initiative, know that I did not know this thread existed until now. I wont get into details, but aside from the information provided in the original post, I am not tied to any information or opinions provided here.

THIS CAMPAIGN HAS BEEN SUSPENDED.

If you would like to be a part of the fate of this campaign, please join us on the Holtheline.com forums to discuss where this is going, and how we can focus on an initiative more of the community can get behind and support.

I personally am sorry that this has been both portrayed and received in the way is has been.
I take responsibility for this campaign, and any concerns you have regarding can be directed to me. I appreciate your concerns and we are doing everything we can to rectify this. Please understand that division was never our intent.

If this is the case, you need Jim to edit the OP to reflect this. Otherwise, this will get lost in the wave of comments.

To clarify: Keilx is clearly a member of the HTL forums, but that being said, he does not represent this campaign, nor does he represent the HTL forums. I do not know who Keil is, and I do no associate with him. Until he identifies himself, I hold no claim to his identity or his being involved with this campaign in part, or in whole.

TBH, I hope your apology and this will be enough. Threads are already popping up about it, all because of the shortsightedness of one individual in thinking he spoke for many.

I'm not sure you can really do anything against Jim, but I hope you can at least reprimand him for this. I'd say any future efforts to garner BSN support will be tainted by this, and I know I will personally draw attention to this thread as an indicator of why this campaign won't work and, in all honesty, should not move forward :)

Can you get Jim to edit that into the OP, at the top? Not only for my personal satisfaction, but hopefully it'll be enough to deflect further associations with the BSN if people check out the thread and see that at the top fo the first post :)

Please don't do this. I've voted and commented at HTL as a returning not-very-active member (sorry if this is not what you wanted) in case you want a more wordy opinion, but in short I don't think this is a good idea.

EDIT> Er.....bit behind the times. Whoops.

Really, 'division' is what gave them second thought?

They clearly don't get it, and I am just afraid to see what they try to cook up next.

Seeing as I'm not a member on holdtheline.com nor am I going to be, if you're going to poll the BSN then the BSN poll needs an option to say no.

I agree, but they refused to change it saying they did not want to lose 12 hours of votes.

Waste of money and the Billboard design is just plain stupid/moronic/ridiculous/lacking intelligence

The whole POINT of putting a billboard up would be to spread the message of the movement and it's goals to people who don't know about the issue, but your billboard idea only makes sense if you're quite deeply involved in gaming news, specifically this ending controversy

I know people who have Mass effect 3, who didn't like the endings, who would have no idea what this billboard is about - The Billboard lampoons language found in Biowares press releases...How many people who aren't aware of this issue have read Biowares press releases, hm? Would that number be zero? I'm pretty sure it is.

The Billboard also makes absolutely no attempt to say WHAT needs a new ending, Why not? Did the designer honestly think that the line included on the poster communicated enough information? Were they drunk?

Put simply, this Billboard preaches to the choir - Anyone who has a hope of understanding the Billboard is already fully aware of the situation and thus don't need a Billboard reminding them, Anyone who isn't aware couldn't possibly understand this cryptic message.

The Battle is not about publicity anymore, "Retake" and "Hold the line" have had so much publicity that people are sick to death of hearing about you, The battle is about communicating the wants of the movement as clearly and as efficiently as possible - If you're not doing that, you're doing it wrong and you are doing it wrong right now.

To be honest I think it's a complete waste of money. If you want to actually get attention from EA then people should support the hold your wallet movement. STOP buying EA products, hit them square in the moneybag.

They are a publicly traded company and are far more concerned with profits.

I personally don't care how other people regard it. We're not trying to appeal to other people. We're simply trying target EA/Bioware....if we get some extra traffic from these billboards who had no clue about this group than that would be icing on the poverbial cake.

So, was this ever anything other than a way to con people out of money?

I think the good news at least is that it's suspended . Good grief , to think this was going on for 40 pages only to find out the OP wasn't even associated with their leadership . I feel both relieved and somewhat pissed off .

You're right on those two sentences.  What can I say, I'm half asleep having my coffee.  Basically, I don't think their plans are set in stone BUT what seems to be their likely course of action is just adding in cut material.

I'm on the same page with you.  When I say "protest" I'm not talking about more cupcakes or charity, I'm simply thinking of using the tools that have been raised up to this point like the Facebook page and others to point the masses in the direction of that sort of individual commentary.

Personally, I'd utilize the FB page to point people to a simple, concise thread that would ask the individuals to post the top three things they'd like to see done in the EC.  From there, you push that thread around through social media.  Tweet it to Bioware employees, make sure it stays active and gains traction on the BSN.  That's infinitely more effective than a billboard, or any other sort of shenanigans at this point.

I haven't had my coffee and I'm dragging, so I can't blame you :P

If that's what you mean to do, that's fine. Those communities and resources already exist, and I don't feel like coming up with bigger and better protests to top the ones that came before it are a solution.

It shouldn't turn into a "just how big a protest can we stage" at this point because it leads to things like this.

Allow me to clarify.

Jim did come up with the idea for a billboard campaign. After a few days, I looked into it, and began the initiative. When setting up the creative team to head up the initiative I included him, since it was his idea. He has played a minor role in the Billboard campaign and does not represent this Campaign, or the HTL movement.

ImmovableMover, I am not singling you out, but I am using your post as an example.

This post was made as a reaction to the OP. Since the OP doesn't mention the campaign has been suspended...this poster responded as though it was still active.

The announcement NEEDS to be in the OP. I'm going to report the thread by citing your apology, Michael, in the hopes that it gets closed, but I might also suggest creating a new thread.

My new headcanon is that Griffin is the Barla Vonesque Volus on my Alliance cruiser who has to climb up onto the conference table to give rather erudite analysis on our current missions . Bioware has already said, that they won't change the ending, so I see no more sense in "fighting" on.

I will "hold the line" with my money, when Bioware brings out its next game.
