While I dig the billboard idea, I don't think it's going to make any changes. I also don't understand why everybody is hating on EA, voting to put a billboard near their headquarters instead of Biowares.

Everybody knows that the writers at Bioware made the game, right? It wasn't like some coorperate executive from EA *poofed* into the Bioware office and said "This is how the game is going to end."

I'm sorry, but this goes to far. We're getting really creepy here, and I bet Bioware employees do not appreciate being "followed" like that by their fans at every moment of the day.

I think we alle want Bioware to develop the extended cut dlc with positive feelings towards their fans, not annoyance and uneasiness. For the record, I do not like the ending, mildly put, but I think we need to give Bioware enough room to operate, and more importantly leave their private lives in peace.

I'm confused, how is this "following Bioware every moment of the day" or not "leaving their private lives in peace"?

Unless... are you secretly taking a jab at all advertising, everywhere?

Nah, probably not.

I don't know about you but I've never had my privacy invaded by a billboard. Guess there's a first for everything...

@EmEr77 post not quoted bc of largeness and general fail at cutting and snipping quotes.

Yes. That. Thank You.

Hahaha noted. Yeah. Personally, I think the billboard thing is starting to creep into the realm of desperation, however, there could be some interesting long-term affects (post this whole ordeal) of this that are ultimately positive for the consumer-base, it's too early to tell. Like my stance on the Extended Cut DLC, if these people pull off the billboard idea, I say just wait and see what happens from it.

However I don't think it should say that we should change the ending. It's just too much of a demand on the poor programmers, who didn't really have anything to do with the story-line aspect of it anyway. They shouldn't have to suffer. I do believe we should be given a little gameplay however. I'm not entirely thrilled at the prospect of purely cinematics to explain what's going to happen, I'm not actually sure that would even work out well enough, but I'm willing to sit on that opinion until the DLC comes out.

Guys, what if maybe maybe, no matter what we do they wont change or care about the fans.

EA never cared about their fans, we already paid for the game and gave them a lot of cash.
( Dont be fooled, Bioware is a brand of EA so.. basiclly this is EA ).

The best option to show them how ****** you are is to leave the forum, never connect to the EA servers again, and remove yoru subs on twitter and youtube and facebook, and dont buy the new game. That is more painfull for them than a board on the street.

EA will disolve bioware sooner or later so... The cycle will repeat.

I doubt this is a good idea as it'll make gamers look bad. like said before bioware's just going to get broken up by EA sooner or later. Ignore their games, make sure your friends and family don't buy from EA or any part of them. The main issue here is casual gamers don't care if they got ripped off. Corporations are assuming that we're all mindless sheep who have been trained over the last few decades to just blindly buy stuff and not complain about the quality. Some of the gamers on BSN have shown that mentality when those of us with standards stand up for our rights as consumers and bash us. Until that changes companies like EA/Bioware won't change and it doesn't matter if anyone in the company is on our side because they're held hostage by their bosses who are holding the pink slips and nobody wants fired in this economy.

While I doubt it'll achieve anything, it is a pretty fun idea, and I would love it if you could somehow incorporate some of Bioware's pre-release lies. Maybe the most obvious one would be the A,B,C quote and the in-game picture of the 3 choices. And I do agree with ClixWizard that it would be more pertinent if it was near Bioware's HQ than EA's.

I also don't really get why there's so much hatred towards this. It isn't going to hurt anyone right? If some people want to spend their own money and express their feelings more publicly, how does that hurt you or the movement? The people defending Bioware have already taken many a potshot at us. Yes, this would be giving them extra ammunition, but would it really be worse than anything that's come our way before? Can the people saying 'this is going too far' explain exactly why that is? Whose privacy or sensibility will they be disturbing with this?

The gamers will never look bad, it is impossible for us the gamers to look bad.
We pay for this stuff, it is our well earned money that is paying for this.
What is EA going to say tomorrow? we stopped doing games because the gamers are bad? they are a video game company, sorry for the ironic comment.

So don't buy the product. As so many people here love to point out, money talks.

You didn't like the ending of the game. I didn't either. It was so aggressively nonsensical that I'm even tempted to label the minority (and it is doubtlessly a minority) of people who do claim they like the ending as trolls trying to stir the pot, because I can't see how anyone could be satisfied with that conclusion.

But look what's happening. You're taking out billboards? Filing FTC complaints? Accusing them of fraudulent advertising? You felt they didn't deliver on what they promised? Name one "AAA" game released in the last five years that did. Hell, even the past ten years.

It boils down to you not liking the ending. That happens all the time. It really, really sucks that it happened to Mass Effect, but beyond the EC, there's no way it's gonna get fixed in the short term. Making a big screaming deal about it makes you look ridiculous.

Best to walk away. Vote with your wallet, but do so quietly so this forum can go back to the garbage dump it was, as opposed to the cesspit it's become.

Agreed, EA would have made a more typical, happy ending to ensure the series can continue forward. Bioware is the real target audience for something like this.

But, i also don't think the Billboard Idea is a great one. I can almost gurantee that this action will only add to our label and whiny and entitled gamers

Such a waste of money.

There are cheaper and much more effective ways to voice your concerns. If your target is BioWare devs and producers, send them letters. Every day. Spam their mailbox continually.

Going for billboards is so public one has to wonder if you're a child screaming in the store so mommy gives you candy. BioWare's not your mommy.

Seriously, I could really appreciate the cupcakes, the notes, and I don't even mind the forum flooded with posts about the ending, but billboards makes me shrug and withdraw my support.

If you manage to raise this much money, please invest it into something more constructive.

Do your lives somehow revolve around Mass Effect?

Because the amount of money some of you must be pinning down in these campaigns is just plain insane.

And note that I am not flaming or acting offensive towards any of you, I just think that this whole thing has been spinning out of control at a rapid pace ever since it began, and it gets worse as each day that Bioware doesn't conform to you personally goes by.

I think this would be a bad move, this moves into almost personal (not on an individual but them collectively) attack territory. Even if the purpose was purely to raise awareness then I still think its overboard. Whatever happens there can be no sly digs or asinine comments because that can only hurt the cause and reflect badly on those associated. Frankly one billboard is not sufficient 'advertising' to raise much awareness especially from a group of people not affected by the events or sympathetic to the cause. If you're going to take out ads why not take out ads in prominent places on the web, its cheaper and they will be seen by more of the people you want to appeal to...gamers, techies, etc. Just my 2 cents

I don't think some people understand, if the movement (support it or not) loses that media coverage, it loses the attention of BioWare and EA.  They are obviously unmotivated to do anything about the situation unless it discomforts them.  This is true of most corporations and companies.  Bunches of letters a day can be a real annoyance yes, but it's easily ignored by dumping them in the trash.  The billboard, (agree with it or not) will get attention and (again, agree with it or not) is a great move in the PR battle (yes it is a PR battle) that the movement is engaged in (on many levels) with EA and BioWare.

Pff, I like the mommy analogy.  Mommy didn't get the screaming, and she didn't get the nice letters we wrote her, or the cupcakes we gave her, so maybe she'll get the giant billboard she drives by on her way to work.  Give the d*** baby the candy woman, for the love of GOD, shut it up.

Thank you for your opinion, but remember sometimes it isn't about petty goals, sometimes it's about being part of something greater and achieving something you could never do on your own.

I have always wanted my own billboard, I mean, who hasn't thought about it?  Srsly.  For myself, I have a lot of emotional investment.  I expected YEARS (on top of the ones I already have enjoyed) of replay ability for ME.  With things as they are now, it's ffffgtft.  Out the window.  That's important to me.  I still don't see how BioWare changing a bad ending to a better one is 'conforming to the mob'.

It's been a couple of hours, probably "Jim" is still sleeping it off.

There has been momentum on the actual HTL forums though; their administrator has locked and archived both the poll and donation threads, and formally killed the project for now.

Again, it isn't in the OP, and this thread isn't locked, but they are suspening it at the very least, largely due, I think, to the backlash on BSN.
