Go home with your false duality; I've heard it before and it demonstrates a basic misunderstanding about how and why people give. I give to charity, work with people with disabilities, plan on joining the Peace Corps, and am also willing to give money to promote changes to a video game that I have invested my time and cash in. It doesn't have to be one or the other and claiming such is either ignorant or intentionally inflammatory.
Smart thinking, OP - this needs to happen.
No nothing "needs to happen" consider thesis the most unimportant thing to care about in a long time, and we are already getting dlc. Grow up.
THANKS FOR THE FEEDBACK!
*cringe* are you working for Bioware?

We sorely wanted to include names like EA/Bioware/Mass Effect 3..but copy right issues are just a head ache unfortantly. We did the best we could...if you would like to suggest something else than were ALL EARS
you didn't get it. I said this in a positive manner. but it's late here and I'm going to bed. I'm supporting the idea and think that the message is very good as it is

You haven't explained why. 5 bucks from 1800 fans to get their message out in a new medium? Why not? All of our grievances have been expressed online thus far...this would put them into an IRL context.
And hey, nobody said you have to contribute.
Exactly. We're not asking for much. A few bucks from 1 person goes a LONG way in the overall goal. If you don't think that ME3 needs a new ending then that's perfectly A-Okay. But we aren't in that group. We believe that ME3 DESERVES a better ending for the fans who have spent 100's of hours and dollars into there beloved franchise.

Isn't there anything related to charity that Retake can utilize to gain press?
While a billboard would get the press' attention, another charity case would deliver a much better message imo
Yes actually. A new fund raising group for charity called Save Point will be starting soon.

Ah thank you. I'll look into it. I'd much rather help out with the charity rather than this billboard deal.

Giving Marauder Shields shirts to the needy is a lot smarter. Seriously, think of all the good press.
Like I said earlier this is JUST ONE of many that is to come. We are officially running on all cylinders and will create projects after project that will hopefully give back to the needy and less fortante as well.

Don't get me wrong - "this needs to happen" mostly because it would be funny as hell and it would be a nice way to continue to make our statement heard. I don't take this as seriously as you might think...while life will certainly go on even if the ME3 series ends on this note, I still see it as a worthwhile passtime.
I think spending $32,000 is excessive, but 9k? If people want to do it, then it probably couldn't hurt.
Yes, we are getting dlc. And Bioware has already stated that the dlc isn't changing the endings, which is our (maybe not your) main point of contention. Putting the pressure on to offer something substantive is what we've been trying to do for the past month, no?

Shirts yes, I can get behind an idea like this... Marauder Shields though? Not sure if everyone would get that, and explaining it might be odd.
I think I'd prefer Shepard. Or maybe Hackett in a Uncle Sam like ad.

You know where it'll get the most attention? Online, from game sites. 99% of the few people who actually drive by it and pay attention to what it says won't know or care about what it is. You know what the last billboard I saw was? Neither do I, because nobody pays attention to them. Letting that $5 sit in your 1,800 pockets would be far more constructive that renting old media.jules_vern18 wrote...

We are constantly working on campaigns at Hold the line. Offer us your idea and were all ears to make it happen (if the community agrees as well of course)
and yes serious suggestion.
Telling someone to get a life on a game message board strikes me as a little hypocritical.
I was going to vote on the poll, but it did not have an option for those against the billboard idea.

We are already getting more on the ending in dlc, they will never scrap the entire end of their finished game nor should they since its theirs to do with as they please. Move on, get over it, and enjoy the extended edition. For God sake stop trying to disguise whining as righteousness or something.

The purpose of this obviously wouldn't be to gain a wider audience, lol. It would represent a "day of action" to show that Retakers are still united in their displeasure even after the dlc announcement.
When you're talking PR, marketing, press, etc - and you have as few resources as we do - a creative way to get your message out can be a breath of fresh air into something that others see as irrelevant or easy to dismiss/marginalize.
The only people who would need to drive by the billboard are a few members of the gaming press, Bioware dev team, or EA in general on their way to work in the morning. Hell, we could even pay for just a day or two and it would make some news.

I will tell you this in case it isn't apparent, you are wasting your time. Just as I would be wasting my time trying to convince you that the ending is horrible and riddled with many problems.
Agree to disagree and move on. Let us hold the line in peace please.

Make it small, it doesn't have to be huge and Marauder Shields represents our discontent with the ending. Also the needy probably aren't gonna care what's on the shirt but enjoy the fact they got a shirt.

Sorry, but whining and self-righteousness get stuff done.
I'm curious, though - you keep saying "we" are getting more on the ending, as if you consider yourself one of the many that were upset about the ending.
As it stands now, the ending will not change. Are you really happy with that?

At the end of the day, though, it's your money, and you can certainly spend it however you'd like. But if you're trying to spread your message this is not going to do much more than waste 5$ from 1800 people. Again, though - it's your money.
i hate the ending a lot with a passion but hes 100% right.
edit: i realize that though i felt that he was right i was wrong because all bioware has done is lie and not been open about it so they must justify their actions.

Well people need some outlet for their frustration, and since donating to charity is "wrong" this is as good a reason as any.
