I have discussed the endings and some other things with a friend of mine and we threw some ideas between us that could change the tone of the game(s).
The endings, right of the bat, were the prime targets for our debate. Now I would like to hear what you guys and girls think about these ideas.
Renegade ending
- Shepard takes control of the Reapers rule with an iron fist. He/she goes darkside and become the villain. Twin brother/sister of Darth Vader so to speak, pretty straight forward.
Neutral ending
- Shepard fuses him/her self with the crucible at the cost of his/her life. This forces the Reapers to a truce, whom then returns to the darkness from which they came with the promise that they shall never return.
Paragon ending
- Shepard destroys the Reapers. He/she survives, the mass relays remain intact and the war is over. Celebrated as a hero and savior of the galaxy. He/she retire with the romance partner or remain in active duty if no romance partner is present and eventually becomes a councillor for humanity.
These were our basic ideas for ME 3's endings. Can't say we spoke more about fleshing them out or implementing them into the game.
Now, the other things we discussed involved a romance partner (if any). One is pretty much straight forward, while the other is somewhat tissue thin. However, this is more of an idea that could be somewhat of a curveball and a steppingstone should BioWare decide to continue the Mass Effect series.
- Say you've had a romance partner through all three games or the last two. (Same partner)
- During the last intimate scene with him/her, a big "bomb" is dropped
- If male: Romance partner informs Shepard that she's pregnant. She stays out of the last fight in order to keep herself and the future child safe.
- If female: Shepard informs romance partner that she's pregnant. This is where my point of it being a thin idea comes to mind. Female Shepard being pregnant and going to war isn't a very good idea (unless romance partner is Liara). I decided to mention it non the less for the sake of covering all the bases.
Impact of this bomb related to our alternate endings would be.
Renegade
- Ending cutscene of evil Shepard ruling with an iron fist. A world in flames where you see one or two tombstones. These tombstones belonging to Shepards partner and child.
Neutral
- Ending cutscene with partner and child standing next to either Shepards tombstone or memorial statue
Paragon
- Ending cutscene with Shepard, partner and child together as a family. Living happilly ever after.
I might be a sad person to write this down on this forum, but I would love to hear what you guys think about this
Am I way off the beaten path with this or is this something you could enjoy if they had been implemented into the game?
