Read this first if you haven't already.

Please help talk some sense into these "Hold the Billboard" type folk!

I'll set my differences aside for those that are anti-ending for now, but please do not let it get to this point!

Remember when Firefly was cancelled and fans took out ads in the papers? It wouldn't be the first time, and hopefully not the last.

Retakers are funny because they take this game too serious, but I have to question the logic behind hating people that are not bothering you. Are you just bored or do you actually have loyalty to a company which is just plain silly.

OMG, Billboards... no no no... that's so horrible....

Now seriously, if we can afford it and we care, why not?

I have a loyalty to gaming in general, and I fear this would take the turn for the worse at the expense of gamers.

And I have a few hours before I should go to bed to get ready for work in the morning. <_<

I'm a retaker, but I won't be taking part in this. Good for those who do though; just not my thing.

Seriously.

You should probably all devote that money to charity instead of a billboard about a video game ending.

I was 100% behind the retakers in their push to get a new ending for Mass Effect 3, as the existing ones blow. But I think that ship has sailed. Bioware isn't going to change the endings and a billboard isn't going to change their mind.

The best thing to do for the retakers at this point is not purchasing paid DLC and buying any future Bioware games used. The best way to get Bioware and EA's attention is by hitting them in their wallet. It won't have any effect on ME3 (the endings aren't changing), but it will send an important message on what happens when you treat the people who purchase your games with condescension, and what happens when you ignore their complaints.

While I even thought the purpose for that charity was questionable, I'd find that more justifiable than the billboard campaign.

I dont see how this isn't "acting their age". Even if it wasn't EA doing things like the following justifies it.

This was posted the same day EA was voted the worst company in America. I'm sure it's just a coincidence though.

OP I think you should think about it and ask your self "Why do I care?". If the Retakers want to use their money and "waste it"(your opinion) then let them do so. I don't see how it is your problem or why you should waste time telling them. In the end nothing will change, they will do whatever the hell they want with their money and they'll get the billboards up and no offense but you will have wasted your time.

Same as with the endings, I don't see why people should care if the Retakers want a different ending, they're not taking your endings away. You can still keep them, refuse to download the DLC or choose the same endings even if you download any DLC that has alternate endings. There's no reason to argue over it and I think you people are wasting your time.

They already raised $80,000 for the Child's Play charity. Until they had to shut it down because due to political BS.

Somewhere, an EA representative has to be thinking: "Damn, look at all that wasted revenue".

Uh, I'm sorry...

Are you saying that EA defending the inclusion of same-sex relationships in their games is a bad thing?

Its obvious damage control. They are trying to make it look like they were voted the worst company by a bunch of anti-LGBT people.

This isn't about personal insults. This is about the future of gaming, something that's kind of an important part of my life. I know that's pretty deep, but honestly, you're threatening not only the future of this series (which has been given a chance to make all the Retaker's happy again) but the future of gaming in general, as well as the label of a "gamer", and I refuse to sit down and watch as I'm associated with a group of childish, ignorant, unlogical money wasters that would rather spend time crapping on their own money than move the hell on to other things.

That's why I care.

Even though EA only did that for monetary reasons (bigots make up a very small portion of their customers), I also fail to see how EA telling them to go pound sand is a bad thing.

EDIT: You want to talk about wasting money? Did you see the gigantic Mass Effect 3 marketing campaign? Even my computer illiterate parents were asking me about the game FFS.

Its obviously working.

Electronic Arts (EA) -- one of the largest video game makers in the
world - is the target of a hateful boycott campaign. Why? Because they
approved a gay romance story in one of their partner BioWare's most
popular games: Star Wars: The Old Republic.

I hate the ending, but I don't plan to throw money at this idea. The internet is far more powerful than a billboard. That's where Bioware's name is being damaged the most. Billboard or not, people already know.

Then again, a branch away from cyber space may really get their attention. Then again it may make retakers look absolutely Hardcore nuts.

*shrug*

EA is a metaphor for the baby boomer generation - strong progressive values, disasterous corporate culture.

It isn't.

But EA leaking that information to the press at the same time that they are being voted the worst company in America is exhibit A on why most gamers despise the company.

It is a PR strategy from EA that is practically shouting, "No wait, we are the good guys" while at the same time attempting to subtly paint everyone who voted against them as a homophobe.
