As long as they dont expect me to pay for it, they can have billboards with huge penises dancing the Shepard.

What is it to me?!

I dont see how this isn't "acting their age". Even if it wasn't EA doing things like the following justifies it.

www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2012-04-04-ea-defends-itself-against-thousands-of-anti-gay-letters
This was posted the same day EA was voted the worst company in America. I'm sure it's just a coincidence though.

I must say: EA defending the inclusion of LGBT is about the only good thing that can be said about them. Even if it is only for PR, as some claim.

Those retake guys lost credibility when they didn't show up at PAX. (Don't tell me that evil EA would capture and torture them, all they would risk is to be asked to leave the room).

Now I think they are just trolls.

This isn't about personal insults. This is about the future of gaming, something that's kind of an important part of my life. I know that's pretty deep, but honestly, you're threatening not only the future of this series (which has been given a chance to make all the Retaker's happy again) but the future of gaming in general, as well as the label of a "gamer", and I refuse to sit down and watch as I'm associated with a group of childish, ignorant, unlogical money wasters that would rather spend time crapping on their own money than move the hell on to other things.

Its "Illogical."

Hey, thanks for pointing out one single misspelled word in one paragraph of a decent argument and nothing else. You win the intrawebs.

But seriously, thanks, I'll keep that in mind.

Right, because gamers are held in such high esteem. This makes not difference to how the general public views gaming.

That is changing, well at least in my country anyway.*shrugs*.

That's why I care.

And you are better in anyway shape or form? spew insults left, right and center ... ? And you are a so called "true fan" ?

anyway .. here have a cookie and a mug of coffee to sit down and relax ... :wizard:

[/quote]

Spew insults left, right and center...I'm trolling in otherwords. I'm a 12 year old gamer with the mentality of Tourrettes Guy and feels like I'm right about everything. Is that what you think?

I never said I was better than anyone. I'm making what I and many other people seem to think is a legitimate argument about an issue that has gotten out of hand. You all keep saying that I could just ignore it, but is it wrong to believe that this could have huge consequences that could even effect gamers not even involved?

And btw, if you feel even the slightest offended for what I said, even though I wasn't talking about everyone in the Retake movement, then maybe you are childish...ignorant...illogical (there, I corrected that word), a money waster? One of the above? Maybe?

Do you have any evidence that retake mass effect supporters did? And no a article with nothing to back up its claim is not evidence.

Not trying to offend but you seem to describe the people I experienced when I did.

The thing about capitalism is that not only does everyone have the RIGHT to waste his money, but that wasting money is even a requirement for the economy to work. We should be grateful to those who do, for they keep our economical system working.

Which could of course be seen as a reason to hate them, but I digress. This is not the place to discuss the failings of capitalism.

*I'm re-posting from another thread. And you'll see it in others.*

BioWare isn't going to give one inch more on the ending. I've been an ardent supporter of the Retake movement, but it's over. Any more concessions on BioWare's part will be an admission that Casey Hudson and Mac Walters failed, and it's clear that Hudson and Walters are so ego-involved in this self-created debacle they simply aren't capable of giving more. Witness their cowardly absence at PAX East.

So while it sticks in my craw, I'm moving on...and I'm done with BioWare. I'll watch the Extended Cut endings that most closely match my choices on YouTube, even though the ExCut DLC is free. But I won't spend another thin dime on any BioWare or EA product. That's it.

Isn't this vaugely old news?

Honestly, I don't see this having some horrible impact on the future of gaming. While I agree that those of us unhappy with the ending should cool it down some until we see if the Extended Edition solves enough of our problems, this really isn't that big a deal.

But IMHO people can spend their own money on whatever harebrained scheme they want to.

Eg. billboards, cupcakes, doctors without borders, junkfood, modeltrains, computergames, vinyl collections and what not.

People who thought that were delusional or trolling at best. When I finished the game I felt that they were going to do it. It is becoming a fine trend in gaming from what I have seen.

This is no mere article but a blog post from one of the actual founders of the charity, Jerry Holkins AKA "Tycho Brahe". It was Penny Arcade who actually founded the charity so if their word isnt good enough then what is?

For using them as a flameshield to promote their own nefarious purposes?

Oh, so it's bad to use Child's Play for ulterior motives?

What if EA does it? Without telling Child's Play?

www.cinemablend.com/games/Child-Play-Responds-EA-DLC-They-Did-Have-Our-Permission-Run-Promotion-41190.html

Or what if

  • Blizzard
  • Rad Game Tools
  • Ventrilo
  • HardOCP
  • Cerulean Studios
  • Microsoft
  • Smugmug
  • CheapAssGamer
  • BAWLS Guarana
  • eDimensional
  • CCP Games
  • SOE
  • THQ
And several others

also use Child's Play?
The PAX said nothing about that.
donottrustpennyarcade.blogspot.com.au/2012/04/before-you-go-to-pax.html

Oh, so I guess, in your words, all these companies need to

TheProfessor234 wrote...
Really should just do another donation drive, don't ask for any publicity, give it to Child's Play as an apology

Or do you only have a problem when the Retakers do it?

As far as I know those companies diddnt ask for their money back. Besides it is different, those companies diddnt use the charity as a crowbar to apply pressure and enforce their own will on someone else's company and their product which they have little control over.

those companies did it for publicity, do you really think most people donate to charity just to be nice? because if you do you are pretty naive my friend

Uh, I'm sorry...

Are you saying that EA defending the inclusion of same-sex relationships in their games is a bad thing?

All I can say is, when Kaiden tried to suduce me, I threw up in my mouth.

Yea, but I dont think this one is.

Seeing how homophobes are sadly still in the majority even in the western world (and it is even worse elsewhere), excluding LGBT content (except maybe an option to shoot some homosexuals) would have been better PR overall.

Are you serious? Is a ****ing videogame ending! The world wont change to a better place to live if the ending sucks... or if the endings dont. STOP complaining!
I have spent a lot of time in this videogame, invested hundreds of dollars too! (and i have plans to buy mass effect 2 DLCs now)... but im not dissapointed at all. They did their best, they failed? perhaps. But im not going to make drama out of it. Thats just silly.

The billboard idea was dumb, money spent on something like that isn't the best business plan.

Light hearted things such as the cake campaign was a good idea, donating to child's play was a good idea. Billboard advertising against the ending? Nope, not a good idea.

Paint a labyrinth on biowares parking lot.

You know I actually find myself interested in what exactly they are going put on this billboard, have they drawn up designs yet? If anything comes out of this it should make for a good laugh.
